Except Christ said the time was too long and no flesh would be saved so he told his disciples the time was shortened so it is no longer 7 years. We can read in Rev 13 that the tribulation lasts only 42 months or basically half of 7 years.

It just means those days will be "limited", shortened from all flesh being destroyed. It will be shortened to 7 years, not longer.

Jesus did not change Daniel 9, the 70th week. It will be 7 years long.

The 42 months are basically half of the 7 years, agreed. All of the 42 months will be in the great tribulation. The great tribulation though will be 1335 days long.

The 42 months is the time portion of the great tribulation that the beast will rule without being impeded by the two witnesses.

Except the bible never states the trib was to be longer than 7 years. It starts with 7 years then Christ says it will be shortened so it's not shortened to 7 years but shortened FROM 7 years...down to 42 months which is 3 and a half years.

Where are you reading the great tribulation starts with 7 years in Matthew 24?

It is actually the 70th week that is 7 years. I thought about going back and editing my post, before you replied.

The great tribulation begins when the AoD is setup to be worshiped. Jesus referenced Daniel the prophet. So what Daniel said in Daniel 12 is the basis for how long the great tribulation is.

I never mentioned Mathew 24 in regard to the 7 year trib. That comes from a verse in Daniel.

But you are indicating Jesus Himself started with 7 years when he said except those days will be shortened - and made it shorter. But Jesus did not start with any timeframe, or end with any timeframe when he made that statement.

Jesus said the tribulation would be shortened from what it had been. The tribulation is first mentioned in the OT as well as how long it was going to be but God decided to make it shorter than it was originally meant to be.

Jesus said great tribulation. Not tribulation.

Matthew 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

The tribulation is first mentioned in the OT as well as how long it was going to be but God decided to make it shorter than it was originally meant to be.
Where in the OT are you reading the term "the tribulation". I don't know what you are talking about.

God decided to made it shorter from what to what? God just changed His mind since the time He first gave the timeframe in the OT ?

ewq1938 - nothing was changed. Jesus was saying that the times of the great tribulation would be so bad, that unless limited no flesh would survive.

Gee, thanks .
It makes a difference because them who hold the pre-trib position - call the 7 years "the tribulation" when what they mean is the 7 years of the 70th week. The bible though doesn't label the 7 year of the 70th week - "the tribulation".

For example, in this video, right at the start David Regan presumes that the 7 years is the "the tribulation" as he is Pre-trib.

He says "what the bible calls the tribulation". It is not factual what he says, the bible doesn't call the seven years "the tribulation".

While the rapture may happen Pre-70th week, it is misleading to invent a term "the tribulation" and present it at though it is a bible term.

day* is an unknown day on the timeline. This is the day that the Antichrist goes into the temple, sits, claims to have achieved God-hood. This is what triggers the Day of the Lord, which begins like a thief in the night.

Matt 24
15So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), 16then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17Let the one who is on the housetop not go down to take what is in his house, 18and let the one who is in the field not turn back to take his cloak. 19And alas for women who are pregnant and for those who are nursing infants in those days! 20Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath. 21For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be. 22And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.

23Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24 For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. 25See, I have told you beforehand.

29Immediately after the tribulation of those days
the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

[This is the 6th Seal & also the first 4 Trumpets]
30Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

1) Abomination
2) Great tribulation
3) Immediately after this 'great tribulation' is the Sign of the son of man in heaven, & gathering the elect
3) then false christs arise. Why? because the false messiah has to save people from the great tribulation. That is why it is 'cut short'. The false messiah cuts short the great tribulation. Christians who don't accept the false messiah are gathered together by the messengers. (Revelation 7 before the 1st Trumpet)
4) People (except for Christians) think they are living in the messianic age, but in reality they are living under Gog. The locusts of the 5th Trumpet are the locusts of Gog. Amos 7:1 - LXX - Thus has the Lord God shewed me; and, behold, a...
5) Immediately after the tribulation of these 'Gog' days will come another 'sign of the son of man' which is the Revelation 12:1-2 passage at the 3rd woe/ 7th Trumpet. So, people have been gathered at the 1st Trumpet (immediately after the great tribulation of the Seals) and after the 6th Trumpet (the 'come up here' gathering which is after the great tribulation of Gog which ended 1290 days after the destruction of Mystery Babylon, which people took to be the destruction of Gog, but in reality was Gog becoming the false messiah.)

I guess you need tell Jesus to stop inventing a non-biblical term and how misleading it is.

Mat_24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

Mar_13:24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,

The tribulation talked about in those two passages was the great tribulation - that starts with the abomination of desolation in the middle part of the week - not the beginning.

Pre-trib have come up with their own definition of the 7 year 70th week - as "the tribulation". But the bible doesn't call the 7 years as "the tribulation".

God changed all of that so now the trib is half of it's original length and the AoD/AC occurs at the beginning which is basically the old mid-way point leaving only 3.5 years for the AoD/AC to exist.

The length of the trib went from 7 years to 3.5. The NT doesn't speak of a covenant being made but if there is one, it cannot be more than 3.5 years as far as the AoD/Ac goes because he and his global government cannot last longer than 42 months.

The great tribulation is based upon the Abomination of Desolation standing where it shouldn't be Matthew 24:15.

In Daniel 12:11-12, the length of time given is 1335 days long. So the great tribulation never was 7 years to start with.

Daniel 12:
11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.

Same place you do.

Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

It is well understood that a week here means 7 years not 7 days but Christ said this length of time would be shortened else no flash would be saved so it's no longer 7 years.

The 70 weeks are no longer 70 weeks, but 69.5 weeks ?

Daniel 9 the 70 weeks prophecy was given to Daniel around 600 BC. So you are telling me that 630 years later as Jesus was speaking in Matthew 24 to the disciples - that God changed his mind, to shorten the 70 weeks to 69.5 weeks? i.e the last week of 7 years, were shortened to 3.5 years.
