From when I joined here and couldn't start a thread in some forum of which I don't recall now. Someone told me what I just said to Ashlyn. However, I do have recall like many 68yo people and can withstand correction if wrong.

I agree mostly.
I think this is about two things.
1) Labels
2) Context
Really, the "I believe in God, but..." is the dangerous part.
As you have noted, the "... but I'm not religious." part is not.
We shouldn't be "religious" for religion's sake.

I listen to someone say, "But I do believe in God...", realizing full well that they did not. They had no idea what it meant to believe in God. Really just the positive side of agnosticism. As in, "There might be a God."
