Some people despise the truth, but truth that is sugar-coated isnt truth, and most people accept that kind of truth because even though they can really see with thier eyes and the truth is really not deaf to thier ears, they overlook and reject the real truth and accept the "truth" that is only sweet to thier eyes and ears.. but the truth is without accepting real truth people will always remain blind and never free...

Most people despise the truth...as it relates to Jesus Christ...as it relates to objective truth apart from their personal relative truth tastes. I cannot say I like all that is truth, but truth is truth whether I believe it or want to believe it, whether one person believes it, whether hundreds of millions believe it. The heart of the problem is in giving God all the glory, acknowledging Him as the source of all truth, the Creator of all knowable facts, having known them exhaustively before we came into existence.

For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. (2 Timothy 4:3-4, 1984 NIV)

@Jenniferdiana, I agree, but be careful to discern the difference between sugar-coated truth and truth given at the proper time in a palatable way.

Like apples of gold in settings of silver Is a word spoken in right circumstances. (Proverbs 25:11, 1995 NASB)

i agree but i dont think truth relates to Jesus because Jesus is the truth. and Jesus is a witness to and for this evil world. Jesus is the way so only with Jesus is a way out. And Jesus just doesnt set people free for the heck of it, he brings truth with him and that truth or those truths becomes the results and cause of out freedom..

Sugar-coating is not taking the truth seriously, withholding part of the truth for that situation, or twisting the truth to make it easier for a person to like what the truth is. (Satan does this frequently.)

Explaining the truth without sugar-coating is to be honest in your heart (and convey) what you believe God wants the person to know at that time, whether it is palatable or not. What the listener's faith is like must be considered when explaining the truth. Truth given at the wrong time can be destructive (e.g., Romans 12:15), so wisdom must be exercised. Imagine all the truths one could explain to a new Christian, when in fact, what is best for them to hear is a very narrow slice of all Truth (their next steps, answers to specific questions, encourgement).

yeah i think those example of analogies of those truths you made sums up part of it but it doesnt sums it up in whole truth what sugarcoating the truth is.. i honestly think sugarcoating the truth means just telling a certain truth that people want to hear and hiding the real truth behind it. They make that truth sound good when in reality the real truth behind isnt so good. But what i just said doesnt make that the whole truth either, what makes it the whole truth is the fact all this stuff is true..haha i think truth is also just an eternal thing that swims around us and can not be drowned and even though people try to keep it held down, it will always float back up..lol

The truth not spoken in love and humility is just a tool for bashing people over the head with. A fruitless one.
Its not so fruitless if it moves someone to respond to my thread lol. Besides
if i get offended and let myself feel offended by your post it will create a small bitterness in my heart which would cause me to bring negativity on your statement which will make my actions untrue because in my heart i know darn well what you posted above is true..so like i said me bringing negativity.on your post just for a small feeling you give me would only make me a liar and untrue..and i rather stay true and acknowledge what you said is true because it is true..what you said the bible speaks of it and if something is said in the bible its true, why would i let myself go against it and your posts?.whether you think i spoke in love or not wasnt my intention for people to point across me and its not something i already dont know about or dont understand...my only intention was i was just trying make a point across while be blunt here..:)

I was adding to your post. I think the truth is often used as an excuse to speak ones mind and comes out of pride.

God's truth when spoken from us is spoken out of humility and love. We do not speak it in anger, or condemnation. We speak it out of love and concern.

We don't speak it out of pride or arrogance, we speak it humbly submitted to Him most High. We know we are just as guilty as the greatest sinner, but redeemed through what Christ has done.

We know it isn't about us, but about Him who loves us and He loves whoever we feel called to minister too.

A gentle answer turns away wrath but a harsh word stirs up anger. No one will see Christ through us speaking out of our own wisdom when our actions are contradicting what we say by how we say it.

So I wasn't meaning to detract from your post. Just hoped to add what I felt you hadn't included.

I think I would always advise speaking truth tactfully. I would not, however, withhold any truth from anyone. It is IMO prideful to assume that I know what truth another is strong enough to handle. I would also advise against confusing love for others with convenience for myself. Avoiding an unpleasant conversation because I dislike such things is not really loving my neighbor. It is more loving to be truthful , especially when telling truth causes me personal discomfort, than to withhold truth in order to avoid unpleasantness.

Of course, and it should be done with a mind towards who we are in Christ. I am not perfect in this. I mess up by speaking too harshly, I neglect to say what I ought. I then need to trust and pray that the Lord will use my illspoken words in some way, or pray for the other person, wondering if it wasn't for me to have spoken. He does promise to give us words to speak in the hour that we need them.

It should be done out of compassion and concern, rather than as us being judges and indignant. There are a wealth of verses warning us of this.
