Rev 21:24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
Rev 21:25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
Rev 21:26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.

The gates are always open because there are people coming through the gates to enter the city.

Rev 22:2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

Every month means an eternity of time. 12 dif fruits a month means 12 dif fruits every year. 30 days in a month, 12 months in a year.

Not to mention leave the city. I doubt we will spend our entire eternities in the New Jerusalem. I also doubt the New Jerusalem will be the ONLY city because Isaiah says in Isaiah 65:21 that we will build houses and plant vineyards on the New Earth. How can we do that when the New Jerusalem was built by God? So there must be other cities on the New Earth built by man and we must spend our eternities outside the New Jerusalem as well.

no need to walk, just will to rise more or less above the earth and flow along . . . like a drone to get different views and heights, but preferably along with others for companionship and love :)

So we will float to our destinations? o_O.

In the space above the new earth, we will be able to flow, or we can walk, and whatever else. Jesus in His resurrection body was able to rise to the cloud which received Him. So, like Jesus we will be able to rise above the earth and move to wherever we go.

There might not be any destinations, by the way. But we will keep on discovering where God takes us.

If people lived on this planet, half would have light all the time and the other half would have none. Do you think hell would be on the other side?

Obviously, the imagery in Revelation is symbolic. Otherwise we end up with these sorts of absurdities.

The overly realized interpretation I have seen among some millenialists reminds me of the chiliastic controversy/heresy in the early church. But it was generally abandoned in favor of Augustine's, and other fathers', spiritual interpretation of Revelation.

The New Jerusalem is the Church.

"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband (Rev 21:2)

Where else does this sort of imagery appear in Scriptures?

In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. (John 14:2-3)

The "many rooms" is a reference to the bridal imagery frequently used in the Scriptures, and the basis for much of the bridal mysticism traditionally found in Christian liturgy and devotion. The "bride" refers to the Church as the bride of Christ.

BTW, the "no more sea" represents the destruction of chaos and evil, since the sea is connected with chaos in semitic and near-eastern religious symbolism.

So we will be able to fly? Awesome! I guess when Jesus said we will become like the angels he meant it. But that would be awesome to be able to fly.
