What if he has confessed toJesus and asked forgiveness?

Jesus would forgive him. The government however doesn't care about that and will make him serve his sentence and Jesus did say "Render unto Caesar....." .

Because publishing pictures of naked women is just like being a serial rapist.

Actually..........................................................it nearly is.

Irrelevant to who? The public? His victims? His family?

IMO Irrelevant to a reasonable person. When has sinned against many I see no relevance to which victim one asks forgiveness of first?

3-10 years. If he wasn't a celebrity, I'd bet he'd get a stiffer sentence.

If he wasn't a celebrity, it is also possible he would never have been prosecuted. That celebrity thing can be a two edged sword.

I thought that the sentence was rather light but after looking at what the law is it's about as harsh as he could get in that state for what he was convicted of.

At his age he could die at any time.

If/when he comes clean with God, thats his business and he can dither around with that as long as he wants. For everyone else involved, including the law, he needs to get a move on.

What if he has confessed toJesus and asked forgiveness?

That would be between him and God; it wouldn't change the temporal consequences of his actions, or the lifetime of pain and harm he caused. As such, spending his time in prison, and the remainder of his years in repentance, and making plain his grief and sorrow over the evil things he did.

Christianity is vertical and horizontal. How we treat others, how we behave and act toward our fellow human beings matters. There are consequences to our actions. There are things we have to do and work toward in making peace with our fellow man. God doesn't need our good works, but our neighbor does. Jesus says to make reconciliation with your brother before giving your offering; St. Paul saying we should be living sacrifices through love and service. Christ has made universal peace between us and God, and so God's mercy is freely given, His forgiveness is there freely and without measure; but there is still a life to be lived in relation to others, in the world, and how we act and live and speak matters. There is no magic get out of jail free card for this life (no pun intended); for this life and our life toward others the Apostle says to work out our salvation in fear and trembling.

If he wasn’t a celebrity, it would not have taken so long either.

Yes, because lots of black men were never charged when 33+ white women accused them of rape/sexual assault over a 40 year period starting in the 60s.

Actually real peace comes through forgiveness. It is funny how people do not seem to get away with anything in life. We hear about people late in life getting caught and being held accountable for what they did in life. If we want to go to Heaven then our punishment has to be here in this life because there is no punishment for us in the next Other than maybe the loss of rewards that we could have had.

Forgiveness doesn't mean not wanting justice, Joshua. Whether or not these women who were violated by Cosby forgive him, that is up for them, but they are reasonable to want justice. I hope that gives them peace.
