Good morning my friends in Christ!

That Hanani, one of my brethren, came, he and certain men of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, which were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.” - Nehemiah 1:2

Hanani was no ordinary person for a couple of reasons. First, he was the blood brother of Nehemiah, and secondly, he was forthright. It was his words of the condition of Jerusalem that smote Nehemiah’s heart, just a few words, not a lengthy message or lecture…just a few honest words.

As a husband and wife were riding together down the highway, they noticed a mule on the side of the road. The husband said to the wife, “Look! One of your relatives!” She replied...

i had never heard of Hanani, nor did i know that he was Nehemiah's brother. Yet he was instrumental in prompting Nehemiah to pray that pivotal prayer to an extraordinary and mighty and merciful God Who would use Nehemiah, also an ordinary man, as he pleaded for Israel in its rubble of a condition (men and the remnant left and the conquered defeated city) for extraordinary things for His glory.

Oh the mighty things that God can do through us, ordinary people, but who believe in an extraordinary God.

Reminds me of this:

"She believed she could, so she did." ~Anonymous

Now it doesn't mean what one might think at first glance, that this WOMAN can do anything in her "own" strength". No, it means that she can, THROUGH a mighty God, when He calls her to do something that might seem impossible, to DO what she is called to do.

Just like with Nehemiah, she is granted the strength she needs through the living God, Who strengthens her.

"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." ~Ph 4:13

Good morning brother, and thank you for this edifying study and meditation.

God bless you.
