The Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling, which legalized abortion nationwide, has been great for the economy, says Chelsea Clinton.

The number of women entering the workforce has exploded since the early 1970s, she explained this weekend. These women are responsible for adding about $3.5 trillion to the U.S. economy.

Roe v. Wade was also decided in the early 1970s. You do the math.

"Whether you fundamentally care about reproductive rights and access right, because these are not the same thing, if you care about social justice or economic justice, agency – you have to care about this,” Clinton said Saturday at a “Rise Up for Roe” event.

She added,

"It is not a disconnected fact … that American women entering the labor force from 1973 to 2009 added three and a half trillion dollars to our economy. Right? The net, new entrance of women – that is not disconnected from the fact that Roe became the law of the land in January of 1973."​

From what I've read and listened to, if we nearly put an end to illegal immigration, and nearly an end to abortion (with maybe a couple of exceptions), the US population would be about the same. In other words the statistics I've looked into, the number of illegal immigrants per year and the number of abortions performed per year are close in numbers. Instead of replacing the population with future generations born and raised here, the population is being replaced with people from other countries. Over time, I think increasingly the effect will be a loss of American identity, and worse.

What stood out to me is that this is rather fallacious. Simply put, anyone with an education understands that correlation does not mean causation.

She provides no actual support for the number of abortions being the cause of women entering the workforce. None.

And even if the increase number of women in the workforce was directly related to the number of abortions performed in America, what exactly is the story? Is the story that it's more important for a woman to have a job than for a human being to have a chance at life?

It's odd to connect women in the workforce to the Roe v Wade decision, because there's a more obvious event that happened in the 1960s: The availability of legal, reliable contraception. The birth control pill was approved by the FDA in 1960, and the 1965 decision Griswold v Connecticut said that states could no longer make birth control illegal for married couples. To my knowledge, most married women aren't using abortion to limit their family size; they're using contraception.

I'll try to go hunt down Chelsea Clinton's actual speech, to see if she really did credit Roe v Wade with allowing women the freedom to enter the work force in large numbers. If that's what she said, she's in error.

I think she had to say something about Roe given the event was something like “Roe rocks” or something.

Her argument also justified Roe as something which fueled the economy. Completely sickening.

Even if her claim of a 3.5 trillion economic boost were true (which it isn't...) it still pales in comparison with the 60-200 trillion net drag on the U.S. economy from abortion. [And that's not even to get to the moral considerations...]

Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Somewhere along the way they need to repent because that child will be waiting for them in Heaven.

I knew a girl that was raped and decided to have the baby. She use to take her daughter to the prison so she would see her father. Last I heard the daughter was doing pretty good in school.

Even if her claim of a 3.5 trillion economic boost were true

How many years does it take to raise a baby and how many years would the child grow up and work and add to the economy? People use to have a lot of babies because there was a very good return on your investment. Her logic and reason sounds like snake talk. Also if they do not want to raise the child there are plenty of people willing to adopt.

I use to protest at Abortion Clinics. I would carry my sign and ask them not to kill their baby. Most of the girls were very young. To young to work. Before abortion they would send them to a home for unwed mothers and the child would be adopted out. Now they are sent to a foster home. If the girl decides to keep her baby then often the parents end up taking on a lot of the responsibility.

We can talk about sin but a lot of those girl are just to young to know what they are doing. The abortion clinic has the attitude that those poor girls need help and they are there to help them with their problem.

We had five churches and 300 people that surrounded the block and held hands and prayed for God to put an end to abortion. He did not close the clinic down. At least not right away because we are to choose between life and death.

If they want to go to heaven they are going to need to repent because that baby is going to be there waiting for them.
