I don't think there is anything wrong with beer if it is not overdone.
As for smoking, yes I think it absolutely defiles one's body/Temple. How could it not? It smells bad, and it pollutes the air. It leads to...death....sometimes in horrible ways. If anyone wants to argue about that, sorry I don't. Sometimes only the Holy Spirit can help us see the obvious.
Also, my training is as speech/language pathologist and while in school our director, an audiologist, drilled it into our heads that for a baby or small child to have even a very minor hearing loss, that can mean learning disabilities down the road. While the child's is developing, the hearing needs to be virtually perfect for the brain to develop the language areas properly. He told us that is why parents have to monitor their children for ear infections so carefully. Guess what is maybe the biggest culprit for giving children ear infections? Second hand smoke! Of course second hand smoke is bad for adults too, sometimes even deadly.
Once I got an awful case of bronchitis. It happened after I passed through a group of smokers hanging around a conference door I had to go through.
If anyone wants to argue about any of that, either, well, this isn't a debate forum and, again, only the Holy Spirit can open our eyes to the obvious - so I won't respond.
But please, if you smoke, keep your fumes away from little children.
