Excellent!
Interesting and excellent point.
In John 10 they threatened to stone Jesus for supposedly blaspheming:
John 10:
31 At this,
the Jews again picked up stones to stone Him
32 But Jesus responded, “I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone Me?”
33 “
We are not stoning You for any good work,” said the Jews, “
but for blasphemy,
because You, who are a man, declare Yourself to be God.”
At the trial of Jesus, he is charged as being a criminal:
John 18:
29 So Pilate went out to them and asked, “What
accusation are you bringing against this man?”
30 “If He were not
a criminal,” they replied, “we would not have handed Him over to you.”
31 “You take Him and judge Him by your own law,” Pilate told them.
“We are not permitted to execute anyone,” the Jews replied.
Stephen is stoned because he claimed he saw the heaven opened up and
Jesus standing [usually He is shown sitting?]
Acts 7:
1 Then the
high priest asked
Stephen, “Are these charges true?”
54 On hearing this, the members of the
Sanhedrin were enraged, and they gnashed their teeth at him.
55 But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked intently into heaven and saw the
glory of God and
Jesus standing at the right hand of God.
56 “Look,” he said, “
I see the heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”
58 They dragged him out of the city and
began to stone him. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.
8:1
And
Saul was there, giving approval to Stephen’s death.
[Reve 19:11 And I perceived
the heaven being opened and behold!
A white horse and
the One sitting on it being called Faithful and True. And in justice He is judging and battling.]
Paul's calls the
religious rulers blasphemers.
Like Jesus and Stephen, Paul wasn't afraid to tell it like it was:
Romans 2: [
Psalm 74:10/Reve 16:21]
17 Now you, if you call yourself a Jew; if you rely on the Law and boast in God;
23 Who in
law are boasting through
the transgression of the Law, the God thou are dishonoring
24 '
For the name of the God, because of ye, is being blasphemed in the nations' according as it has been written.'
Live by the stones, die by the stones:
Reve 16:21
And
great Hail as a talent-weight is descending out of the Heaven upon the men.
And the men blaspheme the God out of the blow of the Hail, that great is the blow of it/her, tremendous.
The Destruction of Jerusalem - George Peter Holford, 1805AD
The day on which
Titus encompassed Jerusalem, was the feast of the Passover...................
As a consequence, the legions were able to build their redoubts almost without any trouble;
soon, their catapults started to throw
heavy stones into the city.
Under cover of this artillery fire, the Roman soldiers could start to bash the northern wall with their battering-rams.
