I think Romans 13:9 is in line that Jesus is not a license to continue to sin unlike the sabbath ordinance. or religious celebrations. Morality issues vs religious ordinances in regard to celebrations and scarifies.
Its clear to me Paul saw all the law as law as I do. And considered the law in judgments made.

Just if you asked me in light of Christ is the death penalty lawful for capital murder.
I would answer by the governing authorities "yes" on the testimony of two or more witnesses. Personal revenge "no".
I am considering the law in my judgment.
Is it mandatory for our nation. I would answer "no"
Does the penalty of a crime cause a trial to be unfair. I would answer "no"

So I see the law as law.

Needless to state if you preach sanctification is through faith in Jesus not works of the law you are teaching the correct gospel message.
Faith without works is a dead faith.

Matthew 5:19
Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

My read of the scripture is that the covenant is not to be amended.
Ga 3:15 Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto. Even the sinai covenant is not to be amended.
And yet an amended covenant is extended to the non-Jewish Greek gentiles (Acts 15:20,29). Isn't it an amended covenant for just non-Jewish Greek gentiles at Antioch in that Peter admits their fathers weren't able to bear the yoke of 613 commandments (Acts 15:7-11). James says, "If you break even one commandment your guilty of breaking them all" (James 2:10). Yeshua said, "Anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery" (Matthew 5:28).
De 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
The Torah (e.g. De 4:2) was written to God's chosen Hebrews not pagan gentiles that worshiped idols whose women seduced many of God's chosen Hebrews to do the same.
The new covenant is based upon the Abrahamic promises which were made in two covenants with Abraham. Fulfillment, not amendment. God fulfills his promises, he is faithful.
So, do you call it a "New Covenant" because it is a New Covenant to the non-Jewish Greek believers. I agree that the Mt. Sinai covenant is not to be amended. So how do you explain that the Jerusalem Council were so lenient (merciful) to the Christians at Antioch. The male Greek Believers didn't even have to be circumcised. Is that an amended covenant or an entirely "new" covenant for both Jew and non-Jew or just non-Jewish Believers (Greek disciples)?

And what about the amendments that Christians have made to the Ten Commandments?

Randy777s amended version ...
1. You shall have no other gods before me.
2. You shall not make idols.
3. You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.
4. Honor your father and your mother.
5. You shall not murder.
6. You shall not commit adultery.
7. You shall not steal.
8. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
9. You shall not covet.

Added by the Apostles with approval from the Holy Spirit
10. Abstain from sexual immorality

How do explain Catholicism's most recent amended version of the Ten Commandments? The original 2nd Commandment has been removed with the original 10th Commandment divided into two parts (9&10) to come up with their amended Ten Commandments.

RCCs traditional Catechism presentation of the Commandments for memorization are:
1. I am the Lord your God: You shall not have strange Gods before me.
2. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
3. Remember to keep holy the Lord’s Day (Sunday).
4. Honor your father and mother.
5. You shall not kill.
6. You shall not commit adultery.
7. You shall not steal.
8. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
9. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife.
10. You shall not covet your neighbor’s goods.

Has Christianity amended what is referred to as a New Covenant that Messianic Judaism may view with some scepticism with what appears to be Christianity's amendments.

James is great. It is awful how so many churches just seem to ignore this epistle.

Just doing a Bible Study for the Church on James - lots of good teaching there!

In the OT, correct?
Are you getting nervous?(smile)

There are numerous warnings in the NT that the sexual immoral do not enter the kingdom of God. The only lawful relations that I am aware of are between husband and wife.

Indeed, but it doesn't define all sexual immorality, so we have to look elsewhere, the OT.

How do you read Hebews 8:13?

The author of Hebrews makes it clear that, on earth, Jesus is not eligible to be a priest in the Temple because he was not descended from Levi. His priesthood is in the heavenly temple. Notice that even after he ascended, the Temple on earth continued to operate.

If you read the details of the New Covenant in Jeremiah chapters 31 thru 33, you will see that the difference between the OC and the NC is the hearts of the people.

Those chapters contain the better promises. Please read them.

From the beginning, God desired that His laws would be on the people's hearts.

Perhaps you can make that list.

A man is not allowed to have sexual relations with a woman - including his wife - during and after her menstrual period(Leviticus 18:19), until after she undergoes the proper cleansing procedures in a mikveh. Such a woman is referred to as niddah.

Sexual relation with certain close relations are forbidden. Though they are generally called incestuous relations, the biblical list does not necessarily correspond to those prohibited under state laws. The prohibited relations are:

In the first Passover if a wise Egyptian truly believed God and brushed blood on their door frames by their faith they would have kept the death angel out of their homes. Likewise if a Hebrew thought that they didn't need to apply blood to their door frames as that was stupid their unbelief would have allowed the death angel to enter their homes.

Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute?
Judah got Tamar pregnant and she had the proof otherwise Judah would have had her burned to death for prostitution.
