D&C 129 presents a way of discerning spirits by a hand-shake request:

"
Section 129
Instructions given by Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Nauvoo, Illinois, February 9, 1843, making known three grand keys by which the correct nature of ministering angels and spirits may be distinguished.
----------------------
1 There are two kinds of beings in heaven, namely: Angels, who are resurrected personages, having bodies of flesh and bones—

2 For instance, Jesus said: Handle me and see, for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.

3 Secondly: the spirits of just men made perfect, they who are not resurrected, but inherit the same glory.

4 When a messenger comes saying he has a message from God, offer him your hand and request him to shake hands with you.

5 If he be an angel he will do so, and you will feel his hand.

6 If he be the spirit of a just man made perfect he will come in his glory; for that is the only way he can appear—

7 Ask him to shake hands with you, but he will not move, because it is contrary to the order of heaven for a just man to deceive; but he will still deliver his message.

8 If it be the devil as an angel of light, when you ask him to shake hands he will offer you his hand, and you will not feel anything; you may therefore detect him.

9 These are three grand keys whereby you may know whether any administration is from God.
-----------
QUESTION: Has this test EVER been used by Mormons. If so cite examples. If not, why? It seems to be quite important ("three grand keys").

Man's knowledge laid over and on top of God's word then taught to man will never amount to anything.

But to the wicked God says:
“What right have you to recite my statutes
or take my covenant on your lips?
For you hate discipline,
and you cast my words behind you.

~Psalm 50:16-17

I have never heard of anyone using this but then this kind of encounter would be considered sacred, so a person might not share it publicly.

Why. D&C does not have this prohibition? Is it not strange that NOT ONE example can be sited yet this is a grand key! Certainly many claim a burning of the bosom in verifying the truth of the BOM, is that NON Sacred?

Go back to the above bit about how people tend to hold visitations sacred, and thus not for public amusement.

I have a friend whose husband was in a serious farm accident, he broke his neck but still managed to walk a half mile to get help. Some thing happened to him, something spiritual and sacred. She alluded to it but would never talk about it.

The LDS seem to make this angelic "visitation" known....

Shake hands with the devil? What if he has read D&C 129 and refuse to offer his hand? Is everyone who refuses a handshake to be viewed as the devil avoiding the D&C 129 test?

They're made known because that's what started everything.

Kinda like how the visits and visitations in the Bible are in the Bible...
Name one visit in the Bible that included a handshake test.

In all seriousness.

If you or people you knew had other-worldly visitations, how'd you handle them?

That is off topic.
