Why is it a sin to be in an interracial relationship?

Just something I’ve been wondering, I’ve heard it many times it’s a sin to be in one, but have never really heard any reason or purpose why.
It is not a sin, but it makes compatibility more difficult. When I was in my 30's I wanted to find a woman in her 20's so I could have children. There was one woman I pursued but she did not accept my pursuit. Later I met the woman who became my wife who was 2 years my junior. A few years later this younger woman contacted me out of the blue and wanted to build a relationship. I was already married and told her to never call me again. I had nothing in common with her whereas with my wife we have shared memories of childhood, even though we did not know each other because we are of the same generation and culture.

Ethnic groups are also different cultures. Finding common ground is harder with someone of different background than with one of your own experience. Of course it can be done and there are happy inter-ethnic -- I do not say racial since we are all from Adam and Eve and race is a Darwinian concept -- marriages. But the work to make it work is harder. This is similar to blended families when two divorcees with children try to combine the families. It can work but many find the challenge too hard and divorces in blended families is high, too.

Getting back to my own marriage. I did not choose my wife. The Lord did. He told me to marry her. When He first told me, I said I did not love her. He responded by saying that I would grow to love her just as Isaac grew to love Rebeka. And I did because she is my soul mate, the woman God intended for me all along.

I'm sorry, but truth is TRUTH. They ABSOLUTELY ATE DECEIVED BY SATAN!

View attachment 229597
i will defend the TRUTH until I die and call all racists to repent!
Did you ask Satan if he deceived those people? How did Satan respond to your inquiry?

I agree that those cultural issues are important. Nowadays, at least in my world, I think sharing common religious beliefs would be a much more important factor than ethnicity. I have dated Catholics of a different ethnicity and gotten along much better than dating women in my own ethnic group, but from a different religious background.

The only thing "sinful" that I see in interracial relationships is on those who judge the couple by the color of their skin, not by the fruit, or the content of their character.

All I know is that God caused the people at the Babel tower to disperse and to have different nations and tongues. We were not intended to be 1 culture with many different races but rather many different homogeneous cultures.

That being said, I don't think it is scriptural that it is actually a sin to race mix. Just not the optimal route to go.

Please hear me, I am not saying it is right or wrong. That it is a sin is because it is pronounced by God to be so. During the time of the Tower of Babylon God separated us because mankind had become so arrogant and it riled Him that we thought we could build a tower to heaven and be like the High Most God. So, God took measures to stop us (human kind) by confounding our language and spreading us around the world to prevent us from ever coming together again. (But because of our sin nature we are doing it anyway).

Pragmatically speaking you never ever just marry the person. You marry their family, their culture, their diseases, their ways, their lifestyle, their country, and especially their religion. So, the answer to "why" it is a problem is that God repeatedly warned against being betrothed or wed to a person who does not share the same trust and belief in Jehovah or Yahweh (depending on where you are in your study). In marriage God wants us to be equally yoked, to be alike in our beliefs and practices, and marrying a person with so many difference is not getting us there. Furthermore, when you raise children born out of this union you heap problems on them whether you like it or not because they are not of either race nor of either culture.

Christ reverses the curse of Babel for those who are in Him:

There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:28

Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all. Colossians 3:11

That's not talking about marriage, culture, or how we should govern our country. That is talking about salvation. Don't twist verses to suit your agenda.

This thread is about sin, which is about salvation.

What are you talking about?

Read post #146 again.
According to that statement, Spaniards shouldn't marry British people, and Germans shouldn't marry Italians because they are from a different culture. However, you imply that two Americans who share the same language, probably same culture, and same beliefs shouldn't be married because they have a different color of skin. Which one is the one who is more likely to be like Babel's Tower?

There is not a bible verse that states this. Moses apparently married woman of color seeing she was a Cushite (cush is the word for black) and his brother and sister took issue and were rebuked by God. Solomon had a wife from Ethiopia... and again, I know of no verse that states anything about race beyond it needing to be humans. :) It does speak of not marrying one who isn't part of God's people if you are.

Their argument is Acts 17:26 "From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands."
They say that God put people in different nations, so marrying someone of a different culture is against God's plan.

Except many people with different skin color typically come from different neighborhoods and often have different religions, moral values, and culture.

Also if you look at white cultures, even though the languages are very different, often their cultures share a lot of similarities as if they came from the same originating area. Same with Asians, Africans, and etc.

Right now you're just trying to rationalize in a way that makes it appear "not racist" but racism is actually a modern trigger word that is rarely ever mentioned in the Bible. Jesus didn't come to earth to "damn the racists"! In fact I believe a lot of His own disciples displayed racism and ignorance which was corrected by Jesus but never heavily condemned. In fact Jesus barely spoke about racism at all because that is not the most important issue like the liberal society today would have you think. It's only a distraction.

My parents came from similar backgrounds and my mother was very much like my paternal grandmother in some ways. Neither one of my parents was raised in a Christian home. They divorced when I was eight years and eleven months old. They should never have married. They both felt rejected by their own mothers. Both of them had difficulty in relationships even with their children. Life isn't perfect. We don't choose our parents and we have difficulty choosing spouses especially when people don't know the Lord. Race is not the problem.

America is a melting pot. The people in New England have a slightly different culture than those in Texas. So what? The northern midwest has some who came from colonial Connecticut and Massachusetts as well as a lot of Lutheran Germans, Protestant/Reformed Dutch, and Catholic Polish and Hungarian. New England typically didn't have that mix. There are a lot people with Scotch-Irish backgrounds in the South. My Irish ancestors originally came from Scotland. Should couples have their DNA tested before they marry?
