Hebrews 4:5 KJB - And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

rest” = [G2663] “καταπαυσιν”, “katapausin”
Hebrews 4:5 KJB, is again, quoting from Psalms 95:11 KJB, which directly connects to Hebrews 3:11,18, 4:1,3,4,5,8,9,10,11 KJB, and shows that the 7th day the Sabbath of the LORD is what Psalms 95 speaks of when it mentions "my rest" [Genesis 2:1-3; Exodus 20:8-11, 31:12-18 KJB]:

Citing:

Psalms 95:11 KJB - Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.
Paul in saying, "And in this place again ...", this refers back to Hebrews 4:3-4 KJB's language of referenceing Genesis, wherein the "rest" of God, the Sabbath of the 7th Day, takes place:

Hebrews 4:3 KJB - For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

Hebrews 4:4 KJB - For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

Hebrews 4:6 KJB - Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

Citing:

Psalms 95:11 KJB - Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.
"Enter": Hebrews 3:11,18, 4:1,3,4,5,8,9,10,11

"remaineth" = [G620]
, "απολειπεται", "apoleipetai"

Total KJB Occurrences: 6

left, 3

2 Timothy 4:13,20; Jude 1:6

remaineth, 3

Hebrews 4:6 (2),9, 10:26

From [G575], "ἀπο", "apo" & [G3007], "λείπω", "leipw".

See also the so-called LXX* - Kata Biblon Wiki Lexicon - ἀπολείπω - to leave/remain (v.)

Hebrews 4:6, ties back into Hebrews 4:1 KJB "promise being left", because of the language of "it remaineth", and "to whom it was first preached":

Hebrews 4:1 KJB - Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
Hebrews 4:6 KJB will also connect to Hebrews 4:9-11 KJB:

Hebrews 4:9 KJB - There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

Hebrews 4:10 KJB - For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

Hebrews 4:11 KJB - Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
Please take notice, that this "rest" of God is not new to the pages of the New Testament writings, but is already known of Paul from Psalms & Genesis, etc, and is referring to that which already existed "from the foundation of the world", and even now today "remaineth" to be "enter[ed]" into by those persons of faith, belief and trust in God as Creator and Redeemer.

This "my rest" of God is not abandoned, abrogated, unknown, or even new, but it simply "remaineth", existing from the beginning of the Creation, that some must enter into it, even within the New Testament church, even down to the last days upon this earth.

Hello, the following verse is an erroneous translation.

Hebrews 4:8 KJB - For if [ Jesus ]had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

Almost every other translation has Joshua instead of Jesus.
This was partially addressed here - Hebrews 3-4 [KJB], the 7th Day the Sabbath of the LORD JEHOVAH - "my rest" "remaineth" to My people.

The King James Bible is the perfectly preserved word of God in English [Psalms 12:6,7; Matthew 24:35; Mark 13:31; Luke 21:33; Matthew 4:4, 5:18; Luke 4:4 KJB, etc].

Thank you for your participation.

Hebrews 3-4 [KJB], the 7th Day the Sabbath of the LORD JEHOVAH - "my rest" "remaineth" to My people.

The book of Hebrews is built upon the ladder of learning system, beginning with the foundation, and building upon each precisely measured truth, in its “therefore”, “wherefore” and “for” statements. For instance:

Hebrews 1, lays the foundation in the eternal unchanging Deity and Co-Creatorship of Jesus Christ, who has a more excellent name than that of the created angelic hosts.

Hebrews 2, then begins with the connecting link to the previous foundation, with its “therefore”, and builds upon the other nature of Jesus Christ, namely that of the likeness of his fallen sinful flesh nature of humanity that He had taken upon Himself.

Hebrews 3, then continues to build upon those two things further, and connects to the past truth, with its “wherefore”, and delves straight into the peoples Israel [sons of natural Jacob] of the past, with Moses as a type of Christ; thus showing that Christ is the greater Moses, and in vs 7, another link “wherefore”, pointing to the failure in faith, and the rebellion of action as the result, drawing a parallel between they of old, and the we of then in Paul's day and so also now.

Hebrews 4, then continues the building exhortation, by its “Let us therefore”, and moves right into an an expanded comparison of the past with the present situation, in matters of living faith, granting the victory over sin. Paul, under inspiration of the Holy Ghost, draws from several passages of scripture, and draws a conclusion, with another link in vs 6, a “therefore” and further throughout with additional conclusions and places to step higher, in vs 14, “Seeing then”, and vs 16, “Let us therefore”. Living faith may therefore climb up Jacob's ladder [Christ Jesus] and reach the Throne of Grace, even “boldly”, to find pardon and cleansing for sin.

Hebrews 5, then takes this point on faith, grace, forgiveness, and cleansing, and takes the next step, pointing out the temporary changing Highpriests of old, and the eternal Highpriesthood of Jesus Christ, who is now, with its “For”.

Hebrews 6, then takes this another step higher, with its link of “Therefore”, and moves into the eternal promises of God and eternal covenant made with Abraham [etc], in Christ Jesus, and that true living and abiding faith in contrast with that which is mere 'fool's gold faith' [I believe, I believe, and no corresponding result, thus draw back into doubt, masking as 'faith'].

Hebrews 7, then going further into detail about how Jesus Christ can be a real Highpriest, is linked to the previous, with its “For this”, demonstrating that Jesus is after a higher order, a more ancient order of priest, the Melchizedek priesthood, to which even Abraham, the father of the faithful, acknowledges by tithe. Paul draws out a conclusion in vs 11, “If therefore” and continues.

Hebrews 8, reaches a midway peak, and summarizes all that has been stated before, with its “Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum”, and continues by contrasting the shadows of the Levitical with the reality of Jesus' Melchizedical, along with the old and new covenants.

Hebrews 9, begins with the summarized truth, “Then verily”, and shows the contrast of the earthly sanctuary and its recurring animal sacrifices with that of the true Heavenly, with Christ as the real Mediator between God and man, and the one true sacrifice that was foretold from the beginning, which parallels the language of Colossians 2 and Ephesians 2.

Hebrews 10, continues the thought of Hebrews 9, with is “For”, and shows that the Levitical written laws had types, figures and shadows all pointing to their substance, their body, their reality, Christ Jesus, and because we now have the real sacrifice, sins can truly be cleansed, whereas the blood of goats and calves do not do so, and that everyone taking hold of this sacrifice may enter into God's presence through faith in it.

Hebrews 11, then takes us back to the beginning with “Now faith” and “by faith ...” in the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world, and unites the peoples of faith gone before, with those present, and all those yet to come in the redemption and resurrection provided in Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 12, takes this great 'hall of faith', and links to it with “wherefore”, for the now present persons looking at the significance of the death, burial, resurrection and ascension of the Messiah, and continues with the striking difference between the judgments gone before because of transgression/sin, and the great Judgment to come, but not to grow weary and cling to the blessed Hope, which is Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 13, one can hear the echoed “wherefore” of Hebrews 12:28, in that also in vs 29 God is a consuming fire, who is love, and so “Let brotherly love continue.”, and like as Jesus so loved, in Hebrews 13:12, “wherefore” we ought also to follow such an example of love, and thus, chapters 11, 12 and 13, might appropriately be called the chapters of “Faith, Hope & Love”, and the greatest of these is Love.
Hebrews 4, the short of it:

Hebrews 4:1 KJB - Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

Hebrews 4:2 KJB - For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

Hebrews 4:5 KJB - And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

Hebrews 4:6 KJB - Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

Hebrews 4:7 KJB - Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

Hebrews 4:8 KJB - For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

Your posts are in error and futile.

Please read Acts 15, the Gentiles are not under the law of Moses.
Hence, Gentiles are not required to obey the Sabbath day commandment.

Hebrews 4:7 KJB - Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

See also:

Hebrews 3:7 KJB - Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,

Citing:

Psalms 95:7 KJB - For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice,
Hebrews 4:7 KJB is connected to Hebrews 4:1-2 KJB, by the word "Again", "he limiteth a certain day", and "after so long a time":

Hebrews 4:1 KJB - Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

Hebrews 4:2 KJB - For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
Just as the peoples Israel in the days of Moses/Joshua and Caleb could have entered into the "my rest" of God, which was since the "foundation of the world", and failed through unbelief [as exhibited in the various texts of Exodus, Numbers, Nehemiah, Ezekiel KJB already cited]], yet all the way down in the time of the King and Psalmist David, there was another calling to repentance by God, another calling to faith by God, through the Holy Ghost to "enter" into God's Sabbath, and this promise and time of grace is still available in the days of the Apostles, such as Paul, all the way down even unto our days, as seen in Psalms 95 KJB and Isaiah 56:1-8 KJB.

The Good Shepherd is still calling, His voice is still going out, even heart door to heart door:

Revelation 3:20 KJB - Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Revelation 3:22 KJB - He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Paul understood this call, personally:

Acts 22:14 KJB - And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.
Jesus sounded this call over and over, that none might be lost, except those who refused and heardened their hearts in rebellion to His commandments [John 14:15; Exodus 20:6 KJB]:

John 5:25 KJB - Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

John 10:3 KJB - To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.

John 10:16 KJB - And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

[Side note - John 10:16 ties to Isaiah 56:1-8 KJB]
John 10:27 KJB - My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
Paul followed the Good Shepherd when He heard His voice ...

Acts 9:4 KJB - And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

Acts 22:7 KJB - And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

Acts 26:14 KJB - And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
Paul got the message, and repented, and preached it:

Acts 14:15 KJB - And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:

Acts 14:16 KJB - Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.

Just as at Pentecost with Peter and the other Apostles:

Acts 4:24 KJB - And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:
Which is directly citing Exodus 20:11 KJB:

Exodus 20:11 KJB - For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
They could indeed enter into the "my rest" of God, now being "spiritual", no longer "carnal", desiring to worship God in spirit and in truth, and no longer by the dead and evil works of the old man of sin. Paul was knocked to the ground, lay in the dust, and arose up in the newness of life ... repentant, humble, God-fearing, obedient even unto death, the death of a martyr, like as Peter, and so many others. John the Apostle was exiled for this truth, and was given the vision, even on the very day of God's "my rest" [Revelation 1:10 KJB].

Hebrews 4:8 KJB - For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

rest” = [G2664] “κατεπαυσεν”, “katepausen”

The KJB translators were faithful to the underlying GNT TR, which reads:

Hebrews 4:8 GNT TR - ει γαρ αυτους ιησους κατεπαυσεν ουκ αν περι αλλης ελαλει μετα ταυτα ημερας

Hebrews 4:8 HNT - כי אלו הניח להם יהושע לא־היה מדבר אחרי כן על־יום אחר׃

See also:

Acts 7:45 KJB - Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David;

Acts 7:45 HNT - ואבותינו לקחהו וגם־הביאהו אתם הם ויהושע ברשתם את־ארצות הגוים
אשר גרש אתם אלהים מפני אבותינו עד־ימי דוד׃
There are even Concordances these days, such as the latest Strong's which no longer list these two verses under "Jesus".

These two texts [Hebrews 4:8; Acts 7:45 KJB] are dualistic, in that it refers to both:

Jesus” [ie. Joshua, the son of Nun] and,

For instance:

Joshua 5:13 HOT - ויהי בהיות יהושׁע ביריחו וישׂא עיניו וירא והנה־אישׁ עמד לנגדו וחרבו שׁלופה בידו וילך יהושׁע אליו ויאמר לו הלנו אתה אם־לצרינו׃

Joshua 5:13 HOT Translit. - way'hiy Bih'yôt y'hôshuª Biyriychô waYiSä ëynäyw waYar' w'hiNëh-iysh omëd l'neg'Dô w'char'Bô sh'lûfäh B'yädô waYëlekh' y'hôshuª ëläyw waYomer lô hálänû aTäh im-l'tzärëynû

Joshua 5:13 so-called LXX* - Καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἦν Ἰησοῦς ἐν Ιεριχω, καὶ ἀναβλέψας τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς εἶδεν ἄνθρωπον ἑστηκότα ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἡ ῥομφαία ἐσπασμένη ἐν τῇ χειρὶ αὐτοῦ. καὶ προσελθὼν Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ἡμέτερος εἶ ἢ τῶν ὑπεναντίων;
Remember that Joshua was the human leader, but Christ Jesus was the non-human leader at the time before Joshua, in the pillar of cloud and fire:

Joshua 5:13 KJB - And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?

Joshua 5:14 KJB - And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?

Joshua 5:15 KJB - And the captain of the LORD'S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.
Thus we see Joshua [son of Nun] and Jesus [Son of God] together.
Jesus” [ie. Jesus, the Son of God], who was with them in the cloudy pillar and in the pillar of fire, leading them into the Promised Land of earthly Canaan:

Exodus 14:24 KJB - And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,

Exodus 23:21 KJB - Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him.

Exodus 23:23 KJB - For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off.

Exodus 33:2 KJB - And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite:

Exodus 32:34 KJB - Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them.

Numbers 12:5 KJB - And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth.

Numbers 14:14 KJB - And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou LORD art among this people, that thou LORD art seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by day time in a pillar of a cloud, and in a pillar of fire by night.

Deuteronomy 31:15 KJB - And the LORD appeared in the tabernacle in a pillar of a cloud: and the pillar of the cloud stood over the door of the tabernacle.

Nehemiah 9:12 KJB - Moreover thou leddest them in the day by a cloudy pillar; and in the night by a pillar of fire, to give them light in the way wherein they should go.

Isaiah 63:9 KJB - In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.
The Holy Ghost speaking of "another day" of grace offered in Psalms 95 KJB, etc shows that Joshua the son of Nun did not bring the peoples Israel into the "my rest" of God, because of their ultimate unbelief, and as seen in the scriptures, as in Nehemiah etc., the Sabbath of the LORD, the "my rest" of God, was still not entered into because of the lack of faith.

However, even Jesus Himself, though giving the peoples Israel the conditional [upon living faith] promise, did not give them the "my rest" [though it was His pleasure to do so [see Luke 12:32 JB], even from the "foundation of the world"], because they refused it from Him through their stiff necks and hard hearts of rebellion and unbelief, and so as it is stated in Hebrews, He swore in His wrath that - "They shall not enter into my rest":

Psalms 95:10 KJB - Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:

Psalms 95:11 KJB - Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.

Hebrews 3:11 KJB - So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)

Hebrews 3:18 KJB - And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?

Hebrews 3:19 KJB - So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

Hebrews 4:6 KJB - Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
Therefore, let us beware also, for Jesus calleth again to repentance, to faith:

Luke 12:32 KJB - Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Micah 4:8 KJB - And thou, O tower of the flock, the strong hold of the daughter of Zion, unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem.

Exodus 33:14 KJB - And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

Matthew 11:28 KJB - Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Do we "to day" believe this? How do we show our faith? Mere words? No. Through the living abiding faith comes the good deeds, the obedience unto God, as worked out in us by God [Ephesians 2:8-10; 2 Timothy 3:12-17 KJB], to then Sabbath with God in the 7th day, His Holy Day, trusting in the Creator and Redeemer to provide through every day, as in the wilderness, as at Creation, and even moreso to sustain most especially upon the 7th Day, when our reliance upon Him exceeds every other day's requirements, for in that day we cannot work for ourselves, cannot 'make a living', but must trust in the Living God, "JEHOVAH-Jireh - the God who [sees/knows our needs and] provides" [as Abraham had to know; Genesis 22:8-14; John 8:56; John 1:29,36 KJB], as a faithful and good and ever-loving Father.

The day of God's calling to repentance is still open, and He is calling all to come back to Living Creator, the LORD of the Sabbath, for many have been ignorant of His righteousness [Psalms 119:142,151,172 KJB], and go about attempting to establish their own righteousness, their own way [Romans 10:3 KJB]:

Acts 17:30 KJB - And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
As it was in the days of Noah, people are buying and selling upon God's holy Day, and they plant and build upon His holy Day, and yet, God still has a door of mercy open to all who will hearken unto the Holy Spirit, but to those who blaspheme the Holy Ghost, calling it the work of the devil, are grieving away their only and last chances to enter into the ARK of God:

Revelation 11:19 KJB - And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

Revelation 15:5 And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened:
In the middle of that ARK, is God's Law of Light, and in the middle of the Law is His Rest ... O sinner, o backslidden peoples, will you not enter into His "rest", His seventh day the Sabbath, before the door of probation closes? It is soon, so very soon, and then the "drops" of God's wrath will fall, and turn into cataracts of sorrow and woe, without mercy ... unmingle wrath, for God will sware again, "They [who have turned away from my final pleadings] will not ever enter into my rest" ...

O let us humble ourselves before the great and awesome Creator and Redeeming God before it is too late, everlastingly too late. There is still time. Even if the heart is hard in unbelief, Jesus can heal it, He can forgive it, Jesus can cleanse it, Jesus can show you more as needed, but we must all take the first step toward Him!, but He cannot forgive, nor heal, the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost ...

Hebrews 4:9 KJB - There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

rest” = [G4520] “σαββατισμος”, “sabbatismos” [literally a 'sabbath-keeping']

Total KJB Occurrences: 1

From [G4521], “σάββατον”, “sabbaton”,

which is from [H7676], “שַׁבָּת”, “shabbâth”

The word "remaineth" [[G620], "απολειπεται", "apoleipetai"] is key, since it ties into all the pervious verses of Hebrews 3-4 KJB, which refer to Genesis 1:1-2:3, Psalms 95:1-11, Exodus 20:8-11; 31:12-18 KJB. It has remained from "the foundation of the world", and still offered to us by the gracious and loving Creator/Redeemer to enter into it with Him, the 7th day, which culminates the entire week, the sign of God's creative, redeeming and sanctifiying power. God is no respecter of persons, and since God is love, He offers this love to all freely, even if others have spurned this love in the past. He truly is the Author and Finisher of our Faith [Hebrews 12:2 KJB], for by faith, we take hold upon the naked word/promise of God, and the believing person says, "By the grace of God, there go I, and enter in ..."

It is directly connected to Hebrews 4:10-11 KJB:

Hebrews 4:10 KJB - For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

Hebrews 4:11 KJB - Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

The Sabbath, when entered into in spirit and in truth [that is heart and deed], reveals that we are truly ceased from our own dead and evil works, and having taken up the good and living works and that good rest of God, and we are turned from rebellion, doubt, faithlessness, and enmity with Him to love, trust, faith in and obedience to Him.

The word for "rest" in Hebrews 4:9 KJB, is:

Sabbatis-mos [Sabbath - keeping] is a specialized word [from Sabbatizo, verb - Exodus 16:30; Leviticus 23:32, 26:34; 2 Chronicles 36:21, see also the LXX in all its uses; like as is the word Baptis-mos [G909], utilized [Mark 7:9, etc "βαπτισμους", literally thoroughly or totally washing] from Baptizo].

"Σαββα^τ-ισμός , ὁ,
A.a keeping of days of rest, Ep. Hebr.4.9, cf. Plu.2.166a (codd., βαπτισμούς Bentley)."
- Perseus-Tufts-Edu; LSJ - http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/morph?l=%CF%83%CE%B1%CE%B2%CE%B2%CE%B1%CF%84%CE%B9%CF%83%CE%BC%E1%BD%B8%CF%82&la=greek#Perseus:text:1999.04.0057:entry=*sabbatismo/s-contents

"Σαββατισμός 1
a keeping of days of rest, NTest.
1 Σαββα^τισμός, οῦ, ὁ,"
- Perseus-Tufts-Edu; Middel Liddell - http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/morph?l=%CF%83%CE%B1%CE%B2%CE%B2%CE%B1%CF%84%CE%B9%CF%83%CE%BC%E1%BD%B8%CF%82&la=greek#Perseus:text:1999.04.0058:entry=*sabbatismo/s-contents

... in the further extant Greek literature, always, in every single case, means the keeping of the Sabbath Day:

Plutarch, De Superstitione 3 (Moralia 166A)

Justin, Dialogue with Trypho 23:3

Epiphanius, Adversus Haereses 30:2:2

Martyrium Petri et Pauli 1

Apostolic Constitutions 2:36:2

Neither Christ Jesus, nor Paul, etc, anywhere give 'rest' from the keeping of the Ten Commandments, the Moral/Spiritual, Holy, Just and Good and Perfect Law of God, which would include the 7th Day Sabbath of the Lord thy God, for if these are not kept by the powerful grace of God, then we shall never enter into Heaven, for nothing defiling shall enter there, and Lucifer was cast out from there for his transgressions, even as Adam and Eve were cast out of the Garden on earth for theirs...

... therefore "Labour" [by overcoming even as He overcame] to enter into it ...

For as Christ Jesus obeyed God even unto death, the death of the cross, and entered into the "rest". The sign and memorial of the Redemption offerd in Christ Jesus. Does not His self-sacrifice Create within you the love to honour His rest? If this does not, what will? what will ...

Let us now look at these extant Greek sources, and see more ...

Plutarch, Moralia, Volume II, de Superstitione

Plutarch, De Superstitione 3 (Moralia 166A) [in certain critical editions, reads “βαπτισμούς” [an emendation], but others “σαββατισμούς”]:

“ οὐδὲν κακὸν ἐχούσης ὕπαρ ἐξαπατῶσιν ἑαυτοὺς καὶ δαπανῶσι καὶ ταράττουσιν, εἰς ἀγύρτας καὶ γόητας ἐμπεσόντες λέγοντας

One version [Goodwin. (English)] of this in English gives:

“...[p. 171] as tumbling in mire, rolling themselves in dunghills, keeping of Sabbaths, monstrous prostrations, long and obstinate sittings in a place, and vile and abject adorations, and all for vain superstition! ...” - Plutarch, De superstitione, section 3

Others, unsatisfied with the Greek, point to the Latin, yet the Latin is subject to the Greek:

Notice:

"Noun:

sabbatismum

accusative singular of sabbatismus" - sabbatismum - Wiktionary
Thus we look for "sabbatismus", and we find:

"Etymology

From Ancient Greek σαββατισμός (sabbastismós, “Sabbath observance", "Sabbath-keeping”), from σαββατίζω (sabbastízō, “I Sabbatize, I keep the Sabbath, I observe the Sabbath”), from σάββατον (sábbaton, “Sabbath”), from Hebrew שַׁבָּת (shabát, “Sabbath”)

Noun

sabbatismus m (genitive sabbatismī); second declension

Sabbath observance, observance of the Sabbath, Sabbathkeeping, keeping of the Sabbath." - sabbatismus - Wiktionary
See also:

Exodus 33:14 KJB - And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

Matthew 11:28 KJB - Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:29 KJB - Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Matthew 11:30 KJB - For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Is there not the song, Would you be free from the Burden of Sin [1 John 3:4]?

This was why there was to be no Burdens borne upon the 7th Day Sabbath day of God, for the Day is the Sign of freedom from the burden of Sin! All who do not forsake their sins, shall never enter New Jerusalem, our heavenly home above:

Nehemiah 13:19 KJB - And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and some of my servants set I at the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the sabbath day.

Jeremiah 17:21 KJB - Thus saith the LORD; Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem;

There are two yokes,

[1] the Yoke of Jesus Christ, and His ways, or

[2] the yoke of the devil, and his.

Those which laboured, laboured under the burden, the "laden" of several things,

[1] Sin -

Isaiah 1:4 KJB - Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.

Psalms 33:8 KJB - There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.

Psalms 38:4 KJB - For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.

Isaiah 58:6 KJB - Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

Acts 8:23 KJB - For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.

John 8:31 KJB - Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

John 8:32 KJB - And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

John 8:33 KJB - They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?

John 8:34 KJB - Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

...and because of their iniquities, corrupt men came in and ladened even further with false practices and ways to overcome sin, rules, regulations of worthlessness, which further nullified the commandments of God.

[2] Pharisaical, Lawyers, etc rules of works, traditions which negated the Law of God, and the Salvation of God, separating them from the pure and simple faith of Scripture -

Matthew 23:4 KJB - For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.

Luke 11:46 KJB - And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.

[3] Fear of Eternal Death, because of sin, which is transgression of His Holy, Just and Good Law -

Hebrews 2:15 KJB - And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

Romans 6:23 KJB - For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 6:16 KJB - Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

God/Jesus delivers from these, and gives Rest, which is the bringing us back into harmony with Himself, and His Ways and His Law, thus no longer at enmity, no longer in bondage, no longer servants of satan, but chilren of the Living God:

Exodus 20:2 KJB - I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

Exodus 20:6 KJB - And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Exodus 20:8 KJB - Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Exodus 20:9 KJB - Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

Exodus 20:10 KJB - But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

Exodus 20:11 KJB - For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

For True Rest, is found in God's empowering grace to obey God in His Law, not rebelling against Him in His Law. It is fully trusting in His saving Grace and Power to deliver from Sin/Selfishness, that we put away our own works for deliverance, put away sins, which are transgressions of His Holy Law, by that same Grace, but Rest with Him in His Rest, For He Delivers. The 7th Day Sabbath is the Sign of the Finished Work of Jesus, not only in Creation, but also in Salvation, Redemption in His death, He Rested. Who will trust and belive in His Finished Work with us?

Lucifer in Heaven, brought discord, strife and unrest when he rebelled and sinned in Heaven. And he again brought the same to our first parents, Adam/Eve. He [satan] brings the same to all who will refuse God, and refuse rest with Him [God/Jesus] in the 7th Day of His own choosing.

[4] The Burden of serving wicked Kings in rigorous bondage, because of their rebellions against God, and therefore their needs of chastizing Leviticus 26:13; Deuteronomy 28:48; Isaiah 9:4, 10:27, 14:25; Jeremiah 27:8; 1 Kings 12:11; Psalms 81:6 KJB, etc. For Israel in the time of Jesus was under the bondage of the Roman yoke, for their many transgressions.

Transgression and yoke of Bondage are linked:

Jeremiah 2:20 KJB - For of old time I have broken thy yoke, and burst thy bands; and thou saidst, I will not transgress; when upon every high hill and under every green tree thou wanderest, playing the harlot.

Lamentations 1:4 KJB - The yoke of my transgressions is bound by his hand: they are wreathed, and come up upon my neck: he hath made my strength to fall, the Lord hath delivered me into their hands, from whom I am not able to rise up.
The Devil is the Master Bondsman, enslaving all into sin and selfishness. He says get back to work, do not rest as God says, and do not listen to vain and idle words [of His Commandments], even as he said through Pharoah. The devil says the same through the world today... get back to work! Do not listen to God's requirements.

Yet Jesus came to set us free from the bondage of the Cruel Taskmaster, and brings us safely back into Harmony with Himself:

Isaiah 14:3 KJB - And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve,

Exodus 33:14 KJB - And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

The Commandments of God are not burdensome, not grievious, but a joy and delight:

1 John 5:2 KJB - By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

1 John 5:3 KJB - For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

Love to God and man, is the keeping of the Ten Commandments of God, by the powerful Grace and Love of God.

Hosea 11:4 KJB - I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them.
Those who worship the Beast, have no rest:

Revelation 14:11 KJB - And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
As God said to Israel of Old, so it is to be said unto us, Israel of "Today":

Deuteronomy 12:9 KJB - For ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD your God giveth you.
"Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest ..."

Yep nice to see the scriptures. You will probably be about to write a book of scripture on HEBREWS 3-4 by the time your complete. Looking forward to reading it as I get some time. :)
Yes brother, as you and I, along with a few faithful others on this whole forum, know what real Bible study is like, where the time is taken to prayerfully go through the texts of the word of God, considering the words, the evidences, and following the Lamb throughout each line upon line, and precept upon precept, here a little and there a little, building upon the foundation laid therein, believing each thing that is shown unto us by the Holy Ghost, heeding the council of Heaven.

Jesus has much, much more to share with us, if only we would take the time to consider, believe, and practice what He says therein, otherwise, how can we advance to the deeper understanding:

Jesus told us:

John 16:12 KJB - I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

Paul told those of carnal minds, who cannot think deeply upon the things of God, because they did not want to:

Hebrews 5:11 KJB - Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.

So they uttered their excuses, and complain of long studies and fall alseep, and fall out of the church, fall out of the upper room [by faith, Heavens Most Holy Place] unto death:

Acts 20:9 KJB - And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.
Yet, I thank God, as Jesus:

Luke 10:21 KJB - In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.

Luke 19:42 KJB - Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.

All those that did not want to understand, shall never understand. All those that did not want to enter into the rest of God, shall never enter in. Their request will be granted them.

Hebrews 4:10 KJB - For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

rest” = [G2663] “καταπαυσιν”, “katapausin”

“ceased from” = [G2664] “κατεπαυσεν”, “katepausen”

We have seen that the "his rest" is God's rest, as He calls it "my rest", the Sabbath of the LORD in the 7th day, which was "from the foundation of the world", and even in the very context of the verse reveals the same, "his rest ... ceased from ... works, as God did from his." When did God cease from His work? Genesis 2:1-3 KJB:

Genesis 2:1 KJB - Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

Genesis 2:2 KJB - And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

Genesis 2:3 KJB - And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Exodus 31:17 KJB - It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
Therefore, the putting away of the evil works of unbelief, of the devil, sin and selfishness which is rebellion and enmity against God, and instead in the repentace offered turn to trusting and believing in the "finished" work of God "from the foundation of the world", having been born again of God, taking hold of the grace of God offered through the promise in His Son, Christ Jesus, we can enter into the "rest" of God's Sabbath truly in spirit and in truth, understandning the depths of the spiritual example and command:

1 John 3:8 KJB - He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Therefore, as Paul understood, that to be crucified with Christ Jesus, and so to be dead unto selfishness, we may enter into the "rest" with Christ Jesus, even as He rested the 7th day in the tomb, dead to the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life, dead to all temptation, the work of God being "finished", the foundation laid in the perfect character:

Galatians 2:20 KJB - I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Galatians 5:24 KJB - And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
God rested satisfied with His "finished" work at Creation, Jesus rested satisfied with His "finished" work in Salvation, and there is yet another work that must be "finished" in us, the perfecting of love, and so we may still enter into God's rest through faith, keeping His Sabbath holy, Remembering what God has done in Christ Jesus in giving us life, and life again through Himself.
As it is written:

In the Scripture, it is an abomination and forbidden for God's people to use Necromancy or themselves to be Necromancers: Beginning in Deuteronomy 18:9:

Deuteronomy 18:9 KJB - When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.

Deuteronomy 18:10 KJB - There shall not be found among you [any one] that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, [or] that useth divination, [or] an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,

Deuteronomy 18:11 KJB - Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

Deuteronomy 18:12 KJB - For all that do these things [are] an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

Deuteronomy 18:13 KJB - Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.

What is Necromancy, who knows?

Necro- : muwth – means Death

-mancy/er : darash – means speaker/seeker/consulter

In a more fully defined fashion, Necromancy/er means who one speaks to, or converses with the dead, or consults the dead, or seeks to gain something, such as information, from the dead.

Why is this forbidden? What do we know about the Dead from the Bible?

Ecclesiastes 9:5 KJB - For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

Ecclesiastes 9:6 KJB - Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any [thing] that is done under the sun.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 KJB - Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do [it] with thy might; for [there is] no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

How much does a Dead person know? According to Ecclesiastes, They “know not anything”, right? And that person is then “in the grave” right? This would include then, all “their love, their hatred, and their envy”, because it too is now “perished”, right?

Even as it is according to Psalms 146:4, indeed, “... in that very day his thoughts perish,” right?

According to Psalms 115:17, we read, “... The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.”

According to Isaiah 38:18, we read, “For the grave cannot praise thee, death can [not] celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth.”

According to Isaiah 8:19, it is written, “... should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?”

Question. Should we as God's people ever practice Necromancy, be as a Necromancer? No.

Question. I am going to ask again. Are you sure?

Since it is the case, and all are agreed, based upon the foundation of Scripture, the King James Bible, that God's own people are not to be practicing Necromancy, or be a Necromancer, what then are God's people doing by practicing just those very things?

That's outrageous! Surely not, God's own people?

Yes. Even God's own people. And it is not what you are thinking right now.

There may be even some in this room having done or are doing this. Maybe even everyone in this room ... at one time or another.

The problem is, those that are doing it, do not know what they are doing.

Please allow me to share in this matter, by making a few statements, and then asking a few questions, and then you'll see what I mean. Four words:

OLD MAN OF SIN.

You see. All of us, at one point or another, have been in conversation with the Old Man of Sin. What we didn't realize, in so doing, is that we were attempting communication, a conversation, with a person who is [or should be] Dead. While it might not be the image you were thinking of, in a séance type scenario with cloaked figure, like King Saul and the mysterious Witch of En Dor and a summoning, but it is none-the-less, Necromancy, by very definition. Plain as day. And do you know who uses it to get to us? Satan...

Question. What are the wages for sin, according to Romans 6:23?

Romans 6:23 KJB - For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Ephesians 2:1 KJB - And you [hath he quickened], who were dead in trespasses and sins;

Colossians 2:13 KJB - And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

Romans 6:1 KJB - What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

Romans 6:2 KJB - God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Romans 6:3 KJB - Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

Romans 6:4 KJB - Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Romans 6:5 KJB - For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also [in the likeness] of [his] resurrection:

Romans 6:6 KJB - Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with [him], that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Romans 6:7 KJB - For he that is dead is freed from sin.

Romans 6:8 KJB - Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

Romans 6:9 KJB - Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.

Romans 6:10 KJB - For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

Romans 6:11 KJB - Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 6:12 KJB - Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

Romans 6:13 KJB - Neither yield ye your members [as] instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members [as] instruments of righteousness unto God.

Do we not know that the Scriptures tells us in Ephesians 4:22, “That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;”

Did you catch that phrase about “conversation”? I love it! That's the King James way of saying 'conduct', 'lifestyle', or 'walk', which includes even thought and speech. The Old Man of Sin, the world-loving man, should be Dead, and not a little dead, not mostly dead, not even sleeping dead, but all-together dead.

Lifestyle. Dead.

Dress. Dead.

Hunger. Dead.

Tastes. Dead.

Speech. Dead.

Thinking. Dead.

The Lust of the Flesh, Lust of the Eyes and the Pride of Life. Dead, Dead, DEAD.

Hebrews 4:10 KJB - For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

... continued ...

Yet there may be some of us still clinging to the life in the Old Man, whom can never enter Heaven, and who will not be allowed to live much longer. We should have nothing to do with that Old Man. It is to be completely dead. And since it is to be dead, it is unclean. Let it be severed - cut loose forever and separated from us!

Romans 7:24 KJB - O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

Rev 3:17 KJB - Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

How? By Jesus Christ, the Ever-Living Man!, even as He says of Himself, “... I am alive for evermore, Amen ...” Revelation 1:18

And so, as it is written in Romans 7:25, 2 Corinthians 1:9,10:

Romans 7:25 KJB - “I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. ...”

2 Corinthians 1:9 KJB - But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:

2 Corinthians 1:10 KJB - Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver [us];

How does the Old Man of Sin die? By Crucifixion! How do we get to that Gethsemane experience of ours to drink the cup and be baptised with the baptism, and finally on to our Golgotha, our Calvary, unto the death and beyond?

Galatians 2:20 KJB - I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

For it is only then, can the sin be purged.

Isaiah 22:14 KJB - And it was revealed in mine ears by the LORD of hosts, Surely this iniquity shall not be purged from you till ye die, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

Must be born again, born from above, born by the Holy Spirit.

Christ Himself, born of the Holy Spirit.

Luke 1:35 KJB - And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

John 3:3 KJB - Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

John 3:7 KJB - Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

1 Peter 1:23 KJB - Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

Not Nationality, not Gender, not Rank, Not Status, not Church Office, not Paygrade, not even the Generation.

Luke 9:23 KJB - And he said to [them] all, If any [man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

1 Corinthians 15:36 KJB - [Thou] fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:

Early Writings, Chapter Mark of the Beast, Pages 64-65:

“... In a view given June 27, 1850, my accompanying angel said, “Time is almost finished. Do you reflect the lovely image of Jesus as you should?” Then I was pointed to the earth and saw that there would have to be a getting ready among those who have of late embraced the third angel’s message. Said the angel, “Get ready, get ready, get ready. Ye will have to die a greater death to the world than ye have ever yet died.” I saw that there was a great work to do for them and but little time in which to do it.

Then I saw that the seven last plagues were soon to be poured out upon those who have no shelter; yet the world regarded them no more than they would so many drops of water that were about to fall. I was then made capable of enduring the awful sight of the seven last plagues, the wrath of God. I saw that His anger was dreadful and terrible, and if He should stretch forth His hand, or lift it in anger, the inhabitants of the world would be as though they had never been, or would suffer from incurable sores and withering [Page 64-65] plagues that would come upon them, and they would find no deliverance, but be destroyed by them. Terror seized me, and I fell upon my face before the angel and begged of him to cause the sight to be removed, to hide it from me, for it was too dreadful. Then I realized, as never before, the importance of searching the Word of God carefully, to know how to escape the plagues which that Word declares shall come on all the ungodly who shall worship the beast and his image and receive his mark in their foreheads or in their hands. It was a great wonder for me that any could transgress the law of God and tread down His holy Sabbath, when such awful threatenings and denunciations were against them. ...”

Remember what I said about “conversation”? We should not be in “conversation” with the Old Man, but we cannot live without being in conversation with Jesus Christ.

Philippians 3:20 KJB - For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

1 Peter 1:15 KJB - But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

2 Peter 3:11 KJB - [Seeing] then [that] all these things shall be dissolved, what manner [of persons] ought ye to be in [all] holy conversation and godliness,

Hebrews 13:5 KJB - [Let your] conversation [be] without covetousness; [and be] content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Given Christ John 3:16

“... Why are we so slow to give up our interest in the things of this world, and take Christ for our only portion? ...” - Spiritual Gifts, vol. 4b, p. 150.1 (1)

“... I would ask the youth of today who profess to believe present truth, wherein they deny self for the truth’s sake. When they really desire an article of dress, or some ornament or convenience, do they lay the matter before the Lord in prayer to know if His Spirit would sanction this expenditure of means? In the preparation of their clothing, are they careful not to dishonor their profession of faith? Can they seek the Lord’s blessing upon the time thus employed? It is one thing to join the church, and quite another thing to be united to Christ. Unconsecrated, world-loving professors of religion are one of the most serious causes of weakness in the church of Christ. ...” - Messages to Young People, p. 357.1 (1)

The Old Man of Sin...

Proverbs 21:16 KJB - The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.

Christ Jesus...

Luke 22:42 KJB - “... not my will, but thine, be done. ...”

In Christ's death, where was He when finally the sun was set? He was in the tomb. Dead. Yes, dead to world, the flesh and the devil, but alive unto God...

Hebrews 9:14 KJB - How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

2 Corinthians 5:17 KJB - Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

If it is passed away, it is dead and gone.

This Jesus, even in Gethsemane...

“... His decision is made. He will save man at any cost to Himself. He accepts His baptism of blood, that through Him perishing millions may gain everlasting life. He has left the courts of heaven, where all is purity, happiness, and glory, to save the one lost sheep, the one world that has fallen by transgression. And He will not turn from His mission. He will become the propitiation of a race that has willed to sin. His prayer now breathes only submission: “If this cup may not pass away from Me, except I drink it, Thy will be done.”

Having made the decision, He fell dying to the ground from which He had partially risen. Where now were His disciples, to place their hands tenderly beneath the head of their fainting Master, and bathe that brow, marred indeed more than the sons of men? The Saviour trod the wine press alone, and of the people there was none with Him.

But God suffered with His Son. Angels beheld the Saviour’s agony. They saw their Lord enclosed by legions of satanic forces, His nature weighed down with a shuddering, mysterious dread. There was silence in heaven. No harp was touched. Could mortals have viewed the amazement of the angelic host as in silent grief they watched the Father separating His beams of light, love, and glory from His beloved Son, they would better understand how offensive in His sight is sin. ...

No way of escape was found for the Son of God… ” - The Desire of Ages, Page 693 -- Ellen G. White Writings

There was no escape for Him, how shall we think the Old Man of Sin will escape the judgment of God?

Psalm 48:14 KJB - For this God [is] our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide [even] unto death.

Philippians 2:8 KJB - And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

“... Why seek ye the living among the dead? ...” Christ Jesus cannot be found in anything the Old Man of Sin desires. We ought to seek the Living, among the Living.

Want to see the entire plan of redemption in one verse, ready? Read slowly and prayerfully, and lt this really sink in:

John 1:29 KJB - The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Go to His great love in Heaven, His great condescension, His lowly birth, how he lived as a child subject to Joseph and Mary, lived as a brother, refused the evil, chose the good, lived as a youth, turned away from the folly of the world, loved His Father in Heaven, did good, worked with His hands, lived as an adult, worshiped with the congregation, loved the nature that was created, taught the right, rebuked the wrong in love, uplifted the fallen, healed the sick, cleansed the lepers, cast out the devils, raised the dead, brought light, weeping in the garden, alone and forsaken, was faithful unto death, even the death of the cross, was raised and ascended on High, and lives as the Mediator, that He may finish the work in you. Don't you yet see? BEHOLD [take it into the heart and DO NOT LET HIM GO] this life, and when temptation comes, BEHOLD Jesus in the perfect LIFE, in the perfect WAY, the perfect TRUTH, in how HE lived according to the word, spake the word in all seassons, and this, this, is that "WHICH" will indeed take away the sin of the world, for who can trangress when such an example, such a propitation has been sent before your eyes, mind and heart.

Awake, awake, awake from the dust of the earth. Shake off the sleep of death. Breathe in the Holy Spirit. Take in the life of Jesus. BEHOLD Him in the Word of God [KJB]. My son, my daughter, my child ... it's time to LIVE. So, Live ...

Want to test to see if you are truly Dead unto this world, and alive unto God?

Hebrews 4:10 KJB - For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

... continued ...

God's rest is spiritual [Romans 7:14 KJB], for we know God was not "tired":

The word "refreshed" as already indicated from Exodus [pointing to Genesis], is due to God ceasing to Speak Creation. Everything was provided in His Word,a nd nothing was lacking.

For in the Beginning was the Word [even 'Jesus']. In other words He ceased speaking the Word of Creation at the end of the 6th Day, and from forming anything further with his hands.

So, no, God did not become tired. He did however Stop Creating, by His Word. Thus "rested", and was "refreshed". Resting satisfied.

Isaiah 40:28 KJB - Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

He did however ceased from speaking, and saying, "Let there be...", thus pausing in 'breath' as you might say.

Genesis 1:1 KJB - In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Genesis 1:2 KJB - And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Genesis 1:3 KJB - And God said, Let ...

Genesis 1:6 KJB - And God said, Let ...

Genesis 1:7 KJB - And God made ...

Genesis 1:9 KJB - And God said, Let ...

Genesis 1:11 KJB - And God said, Let ...

Genesis 1:14 KJB - And God said, Let ...

Genesis 1:16 KJB - And God made ...

Genesis 1:20 KJB - And God said, Let ...

Genesis 1:21 KJB - And God created ...

Genesis 1:24 KJB - And God said, Let ...

Genesis 1:25 KJB - And God made ...

Genesis 1:26 KJB - And God said, Let ...

Genesis 1:27 KJB - So God created ...

Genesis 1:29 KJB - And God said, Behold ...

Psalms 8:3 KJB - When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

Psalms 33:6 KJB - By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

Psalms 33:9 KJB - For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.

Job 38:4-7 KJB - [4] Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. [5] Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? [6] Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; [7] When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
God was "finished" speaking Creation. It is a "memorial" ["remember" - pointing to the past perfect Earth without sin, because He is without sin], see Exodus 20:8-11 KJB.

Then it is also a "memorial" ["remember" - pointing to the past resting in it of Jesus in the grave for our salvation, because He is without sin, and took upon Himself our sins, and paid the penalty for sin].

In the New Heavens and New Earth, is will again be a "memorial" ["remember" - pointing to the past act of the finishing the plan of Redemption].

It is the "perpetual [eternal] sign" of perfection and completion, by Faith in the Creator and Redeemer. Those who knowingly separate themselves from this "sign", state that they did not believe that Jesus can bring them to perfect love [John 14:15; Exodus 20:6; Deuteronomy 6:5; Leviticus 19:17-18 KJB].

The Sabbath commandment is eternal Light and Spiritual, never temporary Shadow, never Carnal.

Jesus is the word of God. Therefore, in his death, he too then stopped speaking, entered into the 7th Day the Sabbath of Jesus [the LORD thy God, the Son]., magnifying God's [His Father's] Law above everything, making it honourable. He is both the Just and Justifier ...

Those knowingly transgressing it, willingly "forget" what Jesus paid for their sins [1 John 3:4 KJB], and make excuses ... they choose not to "remember" ...

... for such desire to remain dead in tresspasses and in sins, and thus, as it is written, the dead know not anything, and cannot remember ...

... but we who believe in what God has provided in His grace, in His Word, do enter into His rest, and so we cease from our works, as God did from His, and enter the Sabbath of God, with God, and can thus rest satisfied, no longer trusting to ourselves, or relying upon our selves or our own efforts and works, but take up His works every day:

John 6:28 KJB - Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

John 6:29 KJB - Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

and thus obeying God through faith, we cease from those things which God asks us to [Exodus 20:8-11 KJB], and meet with Him in the 7th day, totally reliant upon the Creator/Redeemer for all things, resting in God, the LORD of the Sabbath:

Matthew 6:25 KJB - Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

Matthew 6:26 KJB - Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Matthew 6:27 KJB - Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

Matthew 6:28 KJB - And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

Matthew 6:29 KJB - And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Matthew 6:30 KJB - Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

Matthew 6:31 KJB - Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

Matthew 6:32 KJB - (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

Matthew 6:33 KJB - But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Matthew 6:34 KJB - Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Luke 12:22 KJB - And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.

Luke 12:23 KJB - The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.

Luke 12:24 KJB - Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?

Luke 12:25 KJB - And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?

Luke 12:26 KJB - If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?

Luke 12:27 KJB - Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Luke 12:28 KJB - If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?

Luke 12:29 KJB - And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.

Luke 12:30 KJB - For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.

Luke 12:31 KJB - But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Luke 12:32 KJB - Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Luke 12:33 KJB - Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.

Luke 12:34 KJB - For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

The matter comes down to "faith". For without faith, which is spiritual, it is impossible to please God, and impossible to enter into His rest, His Sabbath, which is spiritual, and so those of the past without faith outwardly manifested their disbelief by not resting as God did, but continued to rebel against God as the devil does, and therefore, the same today.

As the Holy Ghost entreats us through Paul in Hebrews, let us 'earnestly' strive with all our faith, to enter into that rest, that Sabbath, of God, for it is the Father's good pleasure to give us the Kingdom, even the first dominion, as it is written:

Psalms 84:11 KJB - For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Ecclesiastes 7:29 KJB - Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.
God made man perfect in love at the beginning, cannot He not so restore man to that condition? Does not the builder know how to re-make that which was originally made?

Matthew 5:43 KJB - Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

Matthew 5:44 KJB - But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Matthew 5:45 KJB - That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

Matthew 5:46 KJB - For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

Matthew 5:47 KJB - And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

Matthew 5:48 KJB - Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
For God is love [1 John 4:8,16 KJB]. God's love is for all, for God is no repsecter of persons.

Cast out fear, and cast down vain imaginations, and bring everything of doubt into captivity to Christ, trust in Him:

2 Corinthians 10:5 KJB - Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

1 John 4:18 KJB - There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
Overcome doubt [no longer relying upon self, but rely upon God] through the strength provided at Calvary [Romans 5:6; Revelation 12:10 KJB], the faith given as a gift, enter into God's rest:

1 John 5:4 KJB - For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
