I want to believe God can heal me of misophonia. What can i do?

Hi,

I would say get a bible and find scriptures that back up the fact that God heals, and is willing to heal. Quote them to yourself, and also remind God of his word. Not in a commanding way, but God says He is faithful to His word, petition Him based upon that. The bible says "be anxious for nothing, but in all things through prayer and supplication with thanks giving let your request be known to God" - we thank God for what he can do, but we wait for it, through continual petition, with out anxiety.

Have you been diagnosed by a doctor or do you think you have it?

The reason I asked is because sometimes we auto diagnose ourselves placing a label on us.

Problems with senses can be associated with past experiences. In my case I had an issue with people touching me, I still struggle with it sometimes because I can sense fakeness on people through my touch, specially people who hate me but play nice in front of me. A past experience triggered it, it happened when I was about 7 years old and it grew stronger as I grew, which sucks because one of my main two love languages is touch, yet I didn't like having people touching me. It wasn't until I became an adult that I realized there was something wrong and one day Jesus took me back in prayer to that memory and I was able to see what happened.

So, one thing you can try, assuming it is caused because of a past experience, is ask Jesus to remind you of when it started and tell Him you want to break free from it. Then start from there. Still, work with your doctors in case it is a physical problem which Jesus can heal too through prayer.

Something important to remember is that if you have the gift of discernment your spiritual ears can be also being developed and it can affect your physical ears making sounds sound louder as you learn to mature the gift. If thats the case, the process can be hard, but you’ll see the fruit.

Find a simple experienced trained nutrional consultant, someone who knows about nutritional effects on the growth of the body, the nerves, the brain, and so on.
(Not necessarily about medical terms and diseases - that is an altogether different category or approach.)

For instance, or for hope, in some health issues, in many related health topics, just taking a good calcium/magnesium product has helped thousands of people if not millions.
Likewise, vitamin c deficiency is often not recognized until after taking it for a few months. Same with the b vitamins.
A hit and miss, trial and error approach might work, but might take a long time also (years), so do a lot of your own research as Yahweh permits, and find others who know about such things ( don't just take their word for it - test everything. and it should make good sense for everybody's health) ....

Sometimes you might get good results with a regular ama diagnostician. That's more expensive, but for a diagnosis (of cause, not just of symptoms) it may be worth it and might only take a few weeks, Yahweh Willing.

If it might be a spiritual problem, simply read the Bible frequently, from start to finish, and as you read things that sound appropriate or helpful, pray about that in particular. This is a good daily habit to always do anyway, for health people also.

Misophonia isn't really something that requires a doctor's diagnosis. Many don't know what it even is.
It would appear to be extreme sensitivity to ordinary sounds. It may not be a physical disorder. But you could benefit from talking to a doctor and seeing what he suggests.

I looked it up after reading the op and before replying.
It is a relatively new disorder, and they 'claim' they don't know what causes it.
For decades they have known that what they prescribe does or can cause hearing voices and pain and other disorders, but they don't like that aspect to be known widely.
The nutritionally trained persons in the health care segment have some simple tests they can do if requested, and this may reveal the underlying cause, or at least some things that will help and "first of all, cause no harm".

He can absolutely do it. But is he willing? And if he is, when is he willing to do it?

I don't believe that there is a technique to budging God's will on that. Prayer is relational and valuable, but it's not a steering wheel for God.

It is absolutely a steering wheel......yet, not all know how to drive.....And not all should know how to drive... Many believe they know how to even though they never stepped foot in a car.....then they teach others.... God will let you drive the car....and he wont stop you from running into a pole, or driving safely to your destination.... He gives you the defensive driving course....and the manuals and yet you decide how you want to use them....

God has a will. We cannot obligate him to say "yes" to any request, especially to one where he made no promises that we can claim.

He promised to give me the desires of my heart. He promised that anything I asked in his name He will give. He told me to try Him and see if he wouldn't open the windows of Heaven.... I tried him and saw. Now I dont doubt it anymore. But I use to think like you so i understand where you are coming from.

In fact...I can ask God to lite fire to a bunch of watered down logs....and He will do it. Then I could ask another to do the same, who serves a false god....and there god wouldn't answer.

If God sometimes say no......how do you distinguish the true from the false?

Many people are bothered by certain sounds: fingernails scratching on a blackboard, nervous tapping of pencils, hands or feet, smacking lips while eating, sirens going by, loud raunchy rap or heavy metal music, etc. Our minds focus like a laser on those sounds and we can't think of anything else but those sounds. It disturbs our concentration. I guess you overreact to certain sounds.
I understand that the right therapy can rid 80% of these cases of misophonia.
Another poster asked, what sounds bother you?
God can heal any condition and so pray and ask Him to. The miracle of prayers being answered is that you must believe that He will answer your prayer and when you ask, it is already a done deal. The other thing is, He also answers prayers gradually and through others who help us with the problem, hence therapy. We are given doctors to heal us even though God can do it instantly, He equips others to help heal us.
I would say stop focusing on that sound like a laser. Try listening to enjoyable music while that sound is present. You ignore the sound and focus on the music - You disconnect from that sound. Our minds can do this with practice. Construction is going on outside and we turn the TV on and ignore - and it stops bothering us. So whenever this happens, turn your focus on something else. Again, a professional therapist and prayers will help, if you believe. When we doubt, or fear, that is the opposite of faith.

In that case, I will ask you to pray for one of my unbelieving coworkers. Pray for his toes to grow back and for him to believe in Christ. When God says "yes" to that, I'll know.

I will pray the prayer, when you stop praying that his toes remain missing and he remains and believer. Deal? Those that doubt and laugh must be out, before the dead is brought back to life.
