Peace to you.
When the Lord opens His mouth (the open door of utterance) and He teaches us by opening up the Scriptures to our hearing ears in the Spirit of Truth, we are to be found of Him in our response with few words….being “poor in spirit”…that is, found of Him being poor in BREATH (spirit = breath). Theirs is the kingdom of heaven as they shall be able to enter in to understand the mysteries of the kingdom. Outside that understanding are those who will not hold their tongues.
Matthew 5:2-3 KJV
(2) And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
(3) Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
We are to take heed on how we hear and those who do hear, more heavenly knowledge (the opening up of the Scriptures to our understanding) shall be given to them. Hearing is not speaking. We actively hear by ceasing the words coming out of our mouths.
Luke 8:
(18) Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.
Those who will come to Him and hear His voice shall be found hearing the Word of God and DOING it…being found of Him doing His will to have love for one another. Such people will hear and not speak.
Yet, some cannot come to Him as they will not hear as they speak out a multitude of hasty words (the “press” ) in their wrath of what little they will hear.
The “press” (multitude) keeps them out of the hearing of His heavenly knowledge. Let us be quick to hear and SLOW TO SPEAK. Sin is not absent when we speak a multitude of words…the “press”…the throng that comes out of our mouths.
(19) Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come at him for the press.
Those who will speak a multitude of words at the hearing of His voice will be found “without”…outside the understanding…even though they will desire to see Him. Outside the understanding are those who will not cease speaking their own words.
(20) And it was told him by certain which said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee.
(21) And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.
If any man have ears to hear, let him HEAR. Hearing is NOT SPEAKING.
Mark 4:23-25 KJV
(23) If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
(24) And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.
(25) For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.
The ear of the wise seek knowledge when they shall hear the Spirit and not speak. Those who have ears are to hear what the Spirit is saying. They won’t be speaking. Even a fool is considered "wise" if he will cease speaking and hear.
Proverbs 18:15 KJV
(15) The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.
Yet, the foolish will go on to speak before actually hearing the matter. They hear the headline just assume the rest and go ahead and speak exposing their folly and shame before all who do hear.
Proverbs 18:13 KJV
(13) He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.
Of His own will does He beget us with the Word of Truth….and we are to be found of Him SWIFT to hear and SLOW to speak and SLOW to wrath.
Many seeming “religious” men will hear what the Spirit is saying and yet will NOT BRIDLE their tongues showing us that their religion is indeed empty. They will speak out in their wrath of what they hear….and the wrath of man does not work the righteousness of God.
James 1:18-26 KJV
(18) Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
(19) Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
(20) For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
We must lay apart all filthiness and “superfluity” of evil that wants to come out of our mouths at the hearing of the Word of Truth.
(21) Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
(22) But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
We must be found of Him (at the hearing of His voice especially) being DOERS of the Word….to have love for one another…and not be found speaking evil of those whom He sends out to speak His words of life and spirit to our hearing ears. We must not be found being contentious and proud….but being of “little strength” in our meekness…doing His Word.
(23) For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
(24) For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
(25) But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
(26) If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
Some will be found speaking out in wrath defending their own denominational thinking and ways at the hearing of the Word of Truth. They will be quick to speak….hasty of spirit (breath).
But he that is SLOW to wrath is of great understanding as they will hear and more knowledge shall be given to them.
Proverbs 14:29 KJV
(29) He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
Proverbs 29:20 KJV
(20) Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
We are to keep our “foot”….the tongue from walking in a multiple amount of words….when we go to the house of God when we hear the Spirit speaking the Scripture of Truth. We are to be MORE READY TO HEAR than give the sacrifice of fools…their multiple words that come out of their mouths at the hearing of the Spirit of Truth. They speak out many words and do not consider what they do as evil….yet their religion is found to be empty when they do.
Ecclesiastes 5:1-7 KJV
(1) Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.
We are to let our words be FEW….of “little strength”.
(2) Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.
(3) For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words.
We are to hear and DO His Word…fulfilling the vow to DO His Word as we profess to be His followers.
(4) When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.
(5) Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.
Are we going to speak before the messenger sent by God to speak His words of life and spirit and say it is an error in our contention of what we hear?
(6) Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands?
We are to fear God and keep silent and do His Word….His commandments…and LIVE.
(7) For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear thou God.
The words of our mouth are to be considered a sacrifice to the Lord. The words that come out of our mouths shall be as a humble “prayer” to God always. Our speech is a “prayer” to the Lord always when we continue to speak our words with grace and seasoned with salt (peaceful words).
Colossians 4:2-8 KJV
(2) Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
When we watch what we speak always…continuing in “prayer” and watching (continuing to stay “awake” doing it) in the same with thanksgiving, then we shall be able to understand the mystery of Christ that comes out of the opened “door of utterance”…the mouth that speaks His heavenly knowledge. We shall be able to enter in to understand the mysteries of His kingdom. Outside are those who will not be found in continuous “prayer” as they will speak a multitude of words in their haste.
(3) Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:
If we keep our words as a “prayer” to God always, then the Scriptures….the words of the apostles and the prophets shall be made manifest to our minds.
(4) That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.
(5) Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.
(6) Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
When we hear His words come out of the opened mouth of those whom He sends, we are to be found of God being quick to hear and slow to speak and slow to wrath. We are to be found of Him of “little strength”.
(7) All my state shall Tychicus declare unto you, who is a beloved brother, and a faithful minister and fellowservant in the Lord:
What shall be found of our “estate”? will be found by Him “asleep” to His righteousness and being hasty to speak against what we hear and mistreating His servant or will be found of Him being humble and of few words….the “prayer” to the Lord in our thanksgiving of what we hear….the Word of Truth…the “meat” of the Word? those who will hear will be comforted in their hearts by what they hear.
(8) Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that he might know your estate, and comfort your hearts;
