What will happen in the future (according to 2 Thessalonians) is that a renegade Jew -- the Antichrist -- will work many dazzling miracles to convince the Jews and the world that he is both Christ and God. He will blaspheme them, and call himself God. Then he will cause the whole world to worship his image, take his mark, and be eternally damned. Some will refuse to take that mark and will be beheaded. All of this is clearly revealed in Scripture.

How does this happen in such a short period ( I assume 3.5 years) if the lies are not already believed?

Powerful miracles presented on television can convince people overnight. Here's an imaginary scenario. The Antichrist books a time slot where the whole world is watching. He causes his minions to wheel in a dozen genuine corpses. Then he raises them from the dead, and they walk around testifying about their deaths. Of course these are counterfeit miracles ("lying wonders") but the world is deluded enough to believe that they are genuine.

Matthew 25:11-13 King James Version (KJV)
11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

They are those who professes to be Christians on the outside but are whitewashed tombs

What is this “strong delusion” that most Christians believe today?

Your thoughts please.

Most? If they are deluded, are they truly Christian?

But to answer the question in spite of that... One is that OSAS/Faith only, and act any way we please will get us to heaven.

What is the DELUSION that most Christians today believe, as the Bible says few will find the straight path. Because we are living in the end of time the DELUSION has to be with us now cultivating Christians for satan’s grand finally.

What is this “strong delusion” that most Christians believe today?

Your thoughts please.

The "strong delusion" Apostle Paul spoke of is right there in 2 Thessalonians 2 where he said it. Surely you can read? Paul wasn't giving some magical mystery tour idea. What it is is being described in that same chapter. (I'll put it in red for you.)

2 Thess 2:3-11
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

KJV

It's about the coming Antichrist to Jerusalem (where that "temple of God" will be), playing God, doing miracles, signs and wonders, and the whole world (except Christ's elect) believing it. It's not just about any flesh Antichrist figure. It's about a supernatural Antichrist, one with power to do great signs and wonders to deceived the world with.

In Matt.24:23-26, Jesus showed that false one will work great signs and wonders so powerful in deception that, IF possible, it would deceive even His own very elect. They will not be deceived though. So where does that leave everyone else?

Will he look like Jesus? probably even more handsome than our Lord Jesus likely.

Will he join all religions of the world together into a one-world religion? yes, for Paul said there he would exalt himself above all that is worshiped, or that is called God.

Will he be the Jew's Messiah? Yes... for a little while, as God is going to allow the orthodox unbelieving Jews to be deceived. Didn't Jesus tell them they would receive one who came in his own name?

Will he be the philosopher/king of the secret societies whom they're looking for? Yes. They may even be the very ones behind getting him setup as the king of the world (remember, our Lord Jesus is the True King. So the coming Antichrist is going to try and mimic our Lord Jesus' Role as King and Messiah, i.e., the Religious/King concept).

Most people , including members of most churches, are deceived.
This is clear from all Scripture.

Delusions:
Isaiah 66:4 I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, no one answered; when I spoke, they did not hear: but they did evil before My eyes, and chose what displeased Me. Ezekiel 20:25

The prevalent error is in thinking that the Israel visible today is still the chosen of God. Wrong; they un-chose themselves, Matthew 27:25 and now it is every born again Christian, who belongs to the new nation of God's people. Matthew 21:43

With the rapture cult, the initial error is that of separating Israel and the Church, so they could still look for salvation to come to ethnic Israel, as a major tenet of their doctrine: Israel on earth, the Church in heaven. The pre-Trib rapture teaches removal to ensure survival from tribulation, but salvation and trust in God has always been stated to redeem us from our fallen sinful state, in our earthly situation.

Acts 20:21 I know that when I am gone, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. 2 Peter 2:1-3, 2 Timothy 4:3-4

The rapture idea is that God will “save us” from that which must occur – thus equating this supposed removal with salvation. After so many Christians saw the inadequacy and misappropriation of the verses used to promote Pre-Trib, the Post-Trib alternative was then built around surviving the tribulation – thus sustaining the illusion that survival is somehow related to salvation.

A strong delusion is mentioned in the New Testament: 2 Thessalonians 2:11 And for this reason God shall send them a strong delusion, that they should believe a lie.

This delusion has people looking forward to the 2nd Coming (in the so called rapture to heaven, Pre, Mid, or Post) believing in a rapture removal from the earth. The reality is, we experience His glorious salvation when we enter in to the blessed assurance that Christ’s Death means the penalty for our sin has been paid because of His sacrifice on the Cross. Ever since then, believers must trust in Jesus for their salvation and for their protection during the testing times to come. Isaiah 43:2, Psalms 31:23-24

And if the Lord does not save them, just as has happened to the millions of martyrs in the last 2 centuries, then we must die trusting in His promise of resurrection. Revelation 12:11, Revelation 13:10 Our souls will be kept under the heavenly Altar, Revelation 6:9-11, and Jesus will bring them with Him at His Return, then bring us to life again, to reign with Him for 1000 years. Revelation 20:4

Jesus said: take care that you be not deceived..... Seems that many have been rather careless!

Paul was absolutely right, the delusion has been working since the Garden of Eden.
That is NOT what Paul said. He said that "the mystery of iniquity" is already at work -- "For the mystery of iniquity doth already work". What is this mystery of iniquity? It is the fact that God allows Satan and his evil angels to attack and seduce humanity. Thus we have a worldwide system of idolatrous religions and earning salvation through good works. This is the same as Mystery Babylon, which began with the worship of the heavenly host at the tower of Babel, and has continued to this day.

The culmination of this mystery will be the Abomination of Desolation set up in the Holy Place in a future temple at Jerusalem, with the Antichrist proclaiming from within the temple that he is God and Christ, not the Lord Jesus Christ. This image of the Antichrist will become the focus of idolatrous worship for 3 1/2 years under the reign of Satan and the Antichrist. This image was prefigured by Nebuchadnezzar, who compelled his subjects to worship an image of a man upon pain of death.

You contradict yourself here, apparently.
It is EXACTLY what Paul said, and it began in the beginning in the garden,
and continued all along as you expanded upon "to this day" and
of course will continue until Jesus returns. (and even after that for some, at some point, but that's another point actually)

Not really. There is coming a time in the future when the whole world be be allowed to be in TOTAL AND ABSOLUTE CONTROL by Satan and the Antichrist. That has not happened as yet. Yes, Satan is the god of this world, but Christianity and Christ are also very real in this world. That will all change as noted in Revelation 13.

This is the same as Mystery Babylon, which began with the worship of the heavenly host at the tower of Babel, and has continued to this day.

The host were not worshiped at Babel though. That was an altar to the pride of man, thinking they could get to heaven by their own doing. This was indeed the beginning of Mystery Babylon, but it was the Humanist worship of human ability not the worship of angels.

The culmination of this mystery will be the Abomination of Desolation set up in the Holy Place in a future temple at Jerusalem, with the Antichrist proclaiming from within the temple that he is God and Christ, not the Lord Jesus Christ.

Actually, the third temple is already built (Mark 14:58), which is the temple of the new covenant, and the Abomination of Desolation will then probably be Apostasy within the Church - with the Church twisted to Humanism as we are seeing today with the Social Gospel, Prosperity Gospel, etc.

Israel is bent on building a new temple now - so in THEIR eyes the temple needs to be built
The Man of Lawlessness will have a temple where he will sit in a throne and proclaim to the world that he is God
