But Rome is not surrounded by ocean and ships as @Inkfingers notes. And @Inkfingers claims Babylon refers to America.
If you actually read the Bible, it says that the 'great harlot' sits on many waters (Rev 17:1), and this is symbolic for a great city sitting on multitudes of people, nations, and languages. (Rev 17:15) Rome has for centuries being ruling over many peoples, and even today many people are influenced by it and have kept it through tradition.
Though I disagree with @Inkfingers that America is spiritual Babylon, Revelation 18:11-13, Rev 18:22 is admittedly a strong resemblance to America, as America is the biggest buyer of consumer goods in the world by a long margin, and the most influential in the music industry. My thoughts ultimately are inconclusive at this time on Revelation 18.

The point is, that it is possible to identify spiritual Babylon through identification markers if you believe the Bible is the word of God and 1/4th (maybe more) of it is prophetic in nature, which I assume you haven't the foggiest due to your church doesn't teach it because it's not important?

In other words, it's not possible to know where it is, only that it's not Babylon.
No one but God knows WHERE it lies.

By definition, God alone is Judge (Romans 2:1-3), and the role of any Judge is to apply/interpret the Law.

Therefore, the Judge's role also includes the "correct" interpretation of Revelation chapter 18, which provides a detailed account of the "Fall of Babylon the Great".

Now, God's exegesis of Chapter 18 is no better than anybody else's interpretation, except that God alone has the power/authority to make his own interpretation count more than anybody else's.

Now, Judges can only create case law because they have the power of the State behind them, but that's not to say that their interpretation of the Law is "better" than other Judges, nor better than the opinion of lay people.

So, in the final analysis, God alone has the power/authority to make his own exegesis count more than anybody else's interpretation of Chapter 18.

Therefore, if God says that "America is Babylon", then this should be taken as the One and only "correct" interpretation, since God alone has the power/authority to make a difference, as regarding the future destruction of the United States.

Since no nation on earth has the power/authority to destroy America; but, God's exegesis of "Babylon" is the only one which is significant, since only God has the power/authority to destroy the United States.

Since we all know that "Might is right", and the One with the Stick hand is always right.

But since God is the only One with the Stick hand, then God is the only One who could ever make a difference, as concerning the "correct" interpretation of "Babylon".

Therefore, if God says that "America is Babylon" then we have no right to challenge/question his interpretation of "Babylon".

No more so than the members of public have any "right" to challenge/question the Judge's Ruling.

Daniel 8:9-13 concerns the end-times while the four beasts and the 10 horns + the little horn concern ancient history. The beast with 10 horns that comes up out of the sea in Revelation 13 cannot be the same 10 horns that Daniel saw. The primer here was the characteristics for the 'little horn.' The key context from the very next verse from Daniel 7:7 shows that a little horn arose among the other horns and it uprooted 3 horns revealing to us a primer to identifying this little horn. From a historical context, the Roman Empire collapsed in 476 AD, and from there the Western Roman Empire was divided up into 10 kingdoms from the roaming barbarians.

GgQQU04.png

Of the 10 tribes, three lost their power and significance on the world stage specifically by the growing power of the Trinitarian doctrine. The Heruli, Ostrogoths and Vandals were religiously Arian Christians who persecuted Trinitarian Christians for centuries; Yet with the growing influence of the trinity doctrine these three tribes were finally subdued, and this made way for the rise of the papacy. This historical fact appears to be in line with what was foretold by Daniel 7:8, 20 & 24, and consistent with the characteristics of the 'little horn.' Interestingly, the smallest country in the world is the Vatican City.

KBqh0vj.png

I would pretty much agree with this. I like it. If you can recognize this, then you should be able to see the composite beast that is rising from the sea. The two little horns that you see are not the same. LH7 and LH8 occupy two different prophetic time periods. Only the LH7 plucked up the three by the roots.

LH8's theocratic government "Babylon" will ultimately be destroyed by ALL ten of the end time kings when they finally turn on their Mother of Harlots and leave her desolate and naked, and will eat her flesh and burn her with fire. Because God has put it in their hearts to do so. For God has put it into their hearts to accomplish his purpose by agreeing to hand over to the beast their royal authority, until God's words are fulfilled.

Can this be why the second beast has two horns like the Lamb, but speaks like the Dragon? Similarly to how Messiah has two separate visitations to earth, the Dragon will also be given two prophetic time periods to visit himself to the peoples of earth. Two times where he will be given authority to exercise. And in each of these times the saints will be given into his hand.

And the Dragon stood on the sands of the sea. And the Dragon shall pitch his tents between the sea and the Glorious Mount Zion. Making himself a line of demarcation that separates the nations from the four corners of the earth who's number is like the sands from the seashore, from God's People, the Beloved city, God's holy Mount Zion.

The United States is not Babylon. The USA is the "earth" who helped the "woman" from Revelation 12 after 1260 years of Pay Pal Persecution came to it's end in 1798. In 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue. There were four blood moons and God was opening up a new continent. This continent would become the "earth" that would open it's mouth to swallow the flood that was spewing forth from the LH7's mouth at the end of the Foxe Book days.

And "a place prepared by God" became a "holy place" where the Abomination now stands.

I say that it could be, not that it is.
Could be, simply means that America's fate hangs in the balance, and its fate is wholly contingent on God, and how he chooses to interpret Revelation Chapter 18.

It's wholly contingent as to whether or not God still wants to destroy the United States.

However, God has demonstrated throughout the OT that he could almost destroy an entire country, not necessarily to protect his own (Deuteronomy 20:16), but he would also do it to separate the good and evil - As he duly demonstrated at the time of Noah (Genesis 6:7, Genesis 7:4, Genesis 7:21-23), and later, when he destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 19:13, Genesis 19:24-25).

Thus, God has consistently demonstrated that he could almost destroy an entire country - Such as the USA - to further his own interests - By separating the good and evil, since God could never tolerate the coexistence of good and evil for indefinite - but not necessarily to protect the interests of those who are called his own (Deuteronomy 20:16).

Note: The fictional allegory of the Count of Monte Cristo (Romans 1:20) has served to highlight the fact that U.S. domestic foes are far more dangerous than external enemies; however, America won't be destroyed by domestic foes overnight, but its eventual decline would happen gradually, and by attrition, and over many centuries, as evidenced by 1 Corinthians 15:24-28.

Then, you accept that the new covenant of Christ is based on the race reality of Christian Israel?

That the Covenant of Christ has race at its very heart? --------> Luke 10:28, Romans 10:9 and 1 Corinthians 15:16-17

The entire Bible is race-based... from Genesis when God chose Abraham, Isaac and Jacob/Israel and his 12 sons [the 12 tribes of Israel] to be God's special people above all the other people of the earth. [Deuteronomy 7:6, Deuteronomy 14:2] who entered into a marriage covenant with God at Mt Sinai [Exodus 24:8]... to the God of Israel incarnate, Jesus Christ, who said He was sent ONLY to the lost sheep of Israel [Matthew 15:24] and paid the bride price [1 Corinthians 6:19-20] of the new marriage covenant with His blood [Luke 22:20]... to Revelation where God's New Jerusalem has 12 gates, one for each of the 12 tribes of Israel [Revelation 21:12.]

The USA's Statue of Liberty has a crown with seven spikes. The spikes are the planet's seven seas and seven continents. This fact used to be on the Statue of Liberty's National Park Service website until it gained so much attention, the reference was removed. This symbolizes the globalist nature of America-Babylon.
.
Assuming that America is indeed Babylon, this implies that the Fall of Babylon is synonymous with the long term decline of the Pax Americana, and the long term destruction of the United States of America.

After WW2 while much of Europe and Asia were in ruins... the unscathed USA arose as the world's global superpower. Americans wasted and abused that inheritance. Instead of becoming the righteous city on the hill, the USA exported evil and degeneracy. Immediately after WW2, the USA itself began its slow decline into depravity. Today America's European racial and Christian moral foundation has been gutted and it is quickly imploding from within.

Dave Watchman said in post #205:

Can this be why the second beast has two horns like the Lamb, but speaks like the Dragon?

The second beast, who comes up out of the earth in Revelation 13:11-16, represents the individual man who will become the future Antichrist's False Prophet (Revelation 19:20, Revelation 16:13). He could be a secretly-apostate pope who at some point during his tenure will make a great push for peace and unity between Christianity and Islam. He could say something like: "Why do we fight each other? Aren't we all the spiritual children of Abraham and of his God, the one God? Cannot we lay aside our foolish, man-made differences of theology, which have done us no good at all, but have only brought us hatred and violence, and unite into one religion of Abraham, one religion of peace, based on love for the one God and love for our fellow man? What is more important than this?"

He could be so skillful in elucidating what the moderate Muslims could call "the true, peaceful, loving nature of Islam", that he could be hailed by them worldwide as (in their words) "a Great Imam, come to rescue our beloved Islam from the bad reputation falsely given to it by the terrorists". In this way, a pope could come to hold high positions of power in two religions at the same time, which could be symbolized by the two horns of the False Prophet lamb (Revelation 13:11). This would be similar to how the seven horns of the true-Jesus lamb in Revelation 5:6 could represent the true Jesus holding seven positions of power at the same time (compare Jesus wearing many crowns at the same time in Revelation 19:12). The False Prophet could even say that he is Jesus returned, via "reincarnation". But he will not that say he is Christ. For the False Prophet, and the Antichrist, will deny that Jesus is the Christ (1 John 2:22), and will deny that Christ is in the flesh (2 John 1:7).

Once the False Prophet by his amazing miracles has brought the world under his spell (Revelation 13:13-18, Revelation 19:20), including many Muslims and Christians who may not care much for scriptural dogma, but could go wild over his signs and wonders, he could begin to (in his words) "restore to the world the real message which was spoken by me (Jesus) at my first coming, and by the great prophet Mohammed, but which message became corrupted by power-hungry men when they copied and changed the early manuscripts of the Bible and the Koran". He could then gradually initiate the world into the Antichrist's Gnostic Luciferianism (1 John 4:3, Revelation 13:4-6), also called Satanism, a religion which could have existed since ancient times in some "mystery" cults, and which still exists today in the highest degree of initiation of a worldwide secret society. The False Prophet could present his miraculously calling fire down from heaven (Revelation 13:13) as purported proof that Lucifer (the dragon, Satan) and the Antichrist are the true God (Revelation 13:4-8, Revelation 12:9), in an inversion of how back in Old Testament times the prophet Elijah miraculously called fire down from heaven to prove that YHWH is the true God (1 Kings 18:37-39).

-

If a secretly-apostate pope does become the future Antichrist's False Prophet (of Revelation 13:11-16, Revelation 19:20, and Revelation 16:13), then adherents of Catholicism will have to decide what their ultimate source of truth is: Is it the pope and the RCC, or God and the Bible? Many adherents of Catholicism who know God and the Bible well, and hold to them as their ultimate source of truth, will no doubt be utterly aghast at the false doctrines of a False Prophet pope. Such adherents of Catholicism could demand that he be removed for heresy, and apostasy, and that the cardinals elect a new pope. But other adherents of Catholicism, including many cardinals, bishops, and priests, could be deceived (along with most of the rest of the world) into believing the False Prophet pope's false doctrines, because of his ability to perform the most amazing miracles (Revelation 13:13-14, Revelation 19:20; cf. Matthew 24:24).

And so a great schism could arise within the RCC. Compare the Akita prophecy: "The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, bishops against bishops". Many adherents of Catholicism could follow the False Prophet pope, while other adherents of Catholicism could reject him, and elect their own, new pope (or reinstate a former pope who is still alive), whom they could declare to be the "True Pope". But this new (or reinstated) "True Pope" could then be murdered, along with many of his followers, by the False Prophet pope's soldiers. Compare the Third Secret of Fatima: "he [the pope] was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows at him, and in the same way there died one after another the other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious, and various lay people of different ranks and positions". Could the soldiers firing "arrows" be the Vatican's Swiss Guards, whose weapons and colorful uniforms hark back to the Middle Ages?

After this slaughter, the False Prophet pope could manage to retain the papacy, and full control of the Vatican, and through his (deceived) cardinals, bishops, and priests, retain full control of all RCC cathedrals, parishes, churches, etc., throughout the world. And when the Antichrist (the individual-man aspect of Revelation's "beast") obtains power over all nations, he and the False Prophet will make war against true, Biblical Christians (whether they are adherents of Catholicism or not) throughout the world, and will physically overcome them and kill them (by beheading) in every nation (Revelation 13:7-10, Revelation 14:12-13, Revelation 20:4-6, Matthew 24:9-13).

It is only when the Antichrist has completely broken the physical power of the true Church (which consists of all true Christians, whether they are adherents of Catholicism or not: Ephesians 4:4-6) that the future Tribulation will end (Daniel 12:7b), and Jesus Christ's Second Coming will immediately occur, at which time He will physically resurrect and rapture (gather together) the Church (Matthew 24:29-31; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-8, Revelation 19:7 to 20:6), of all times. And at His Second Coming, Jesus Christ will tread the winepress of God's wrath alone (Isaiah 63:3, Revelation 19:15-21), and so He/God will get all of the glory for defeating the power of evil on the earth (Deuteronomy 32:39-43). For He/God will not share this glory with the Church (cf. Isaiah 42:8-14, Isaiah 26:18).

Jeremiah 50/51 is the OT prophecy about the fall of ancient Babylon. It also tells Babylon's captives to leave Babylon. Yet, in OT history that did not happen until Cyrus conquered Babylon and liberated God's people to return to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple [Ezra 1.] Cyrus is an OT archetype of Christ.

The symbolic name, Babylon, is used in Revelation for the end of the age globalist empire. No where to physically run when the evil empire is global.

Btw... Rev 16:12... the angel drying up the Euphrates river to make way for the kings of the east... is how Cyrus conquered ancient Babylon... by diverting the water from the Euphrates at Babylon, so his troops could secretly invade the city by going under Babylon's "invincible" wall in a surprise attack.

As in Rev 16:15, Cyrus conquered ancient Babylon, "like a thief."

.

I bumped up this topic because if Cyrus' troops were to invade America-Babylon today, most everyone would be wearing masks "like a thief" !

And, the latest news is... "experts" are also suggesting we wear goggles or eye shields!

That would make historic concealment of Cyrus' troops complete.

Talk about invading like a thief!

Time for Babylon to fall !!

That is crazy talking. Purely speculation without bible support. Stop using world news to interpret God’s prophecies.

Rev 16:15 comes on the heels of Rev 16:12. BOTH verses reference Cyrus' historical stealth conquest of ancient Babylon. As Babylon is symbolically referenced in Revelation... so is Cyrus, God's anointed king who conquered Babylon !

.

Speculation. God doesn’t prophesied America or any nation as Babylon the great. You’re looking at wrong place...and signs.

And God says come out of her my people...
Where the heck could we go?

The Babylon harlot of Revelation is indeed referring to a 'system' ("one world government) over the entire earth ruled by Christ's enemies and prepared for Satan's coming as the Antichrist. This system is ordained for the end of this world, just prior to our Lord Jesus' 2nd coming.

World Government Quotations at QuoteTab

The "world government" system they have been talking about in those quotes is the 1st beast kingdom outlined in the first part of the Revelation 13 chapter. Men's doctrines that try to push that to past history are designs by Satan's hosts to deceive about the coming of that false system for the end, and especially to trick the deceived into believing Jesus/Messiah has come when the pseudo-Christ shows up in Jerusalem.

The orthodox Jews in the world will believe the coming Antichrist is their Messiah they've been waiting for. They rejected the true Messiah Jesus Christ and had Him hung on a cross. So God is going to give them another one, a fake one, and like Jesus said to the deceived Jews, "I am come in My Father's name, and ye receive Me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive." (John 5:43).

And God says come out of her my people...
Where the heck could we go?

Revelation 18:2-5 KJV
[2] And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
[3] For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
[4] And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
[5] For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

Isn't it amazing to watch some members trying to interpret verses with world news? When they believe Babylon the Great is America, World System, or some city in the world, yet they can't explain who is God's people that need to come out of her. What a hoot.

This woman was once a faithful representative of God's kingdom on Earth before she has BECOME a the home of the devil. Once a holy city, now trampled underfoot. America does not qualify. The World does not quality. Rome does not quality. The Middle Eastern city of Jerusalem does not qualify!

She is the New Testament Congregation of Israel, the Church, where God's people, the Christians, dwell, to begin with! But now she (the church) has become unfaithful harlot because she has rejected God's Law and have gone after men with the spirit of antichrist, the false prophets and Christs, with lying signs and wonder that deceives many professed Christians WITHIN! God has called his chosen and sealed Elect to come out of her to avoid the plauges that God pours upon His unfaithful congregation. Do you even know what her plagues are in Revelation? I bet you don't.

So much for finding who Babylon is with world history, world news, whatever flavor city of the month to fit their flawed doctrines.

Remember, it is spiritual discerned to understand what God talks about in the book of Revelation.

The idea of the Babylon harlot is shown in Revelation 17 brethren, and explained there, not in Revelation 18 which is her actual destruction. Some brethren like to just jump to Rev.18 before they have properly studied Rev.17 that defines just what the Babylon harlot woman is.

Per Rev.17:1 and 17:3, the Babylon harlot sits upon "waters" and then points to the 1st beast of Rev.13:1 which has ten horns, seven heads, and ten crowns, representing a kingdom beast like the ones described in Daniel 7.

Rev.17:15 reveals the "waters" the harlot sits over are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues, an idea put for over the whole earth.

In the Rev.17:18 verse, we are told the symbolic woman harlot is a "great city". So the Babylon harlot is NOT the world, nor some mystical idea, nor the Church. It does represent a one-world kingdom simply because the woman sits upon it, meaning she rules over it. That is why in Rev.18:7 she says, "I sit a queen, and am no widow", which is a link to the widowhood metaphor God used for fallen Jerusalem per the Book of Lamentations.

The Babylon harlot thus is... JERUSALEM in an idol worship state for the end in control over a one-world beast kingdom, over ALL nations.

The Babylon harlot thus is... JERUSALEM in an idol worship state for the end in control over a one-world beast kingdom, over ALL nations.

Matthew 5:35
  • "Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King."
Revelation 11:8
  • "And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified."

This could be somewhat understandable, and Revelation is not really a simple book to understand. Since Babylon "was" in a sense Jerusalem before she fell, it is understandable how people might rightly relate Jerusalem to her, or wrongly think she represents the literal great city Jerusalem. Remember, it's only the grace of God that anyone gets this sorted out!

I can understand how one might think it is Babylon because it is Babylon. their problem is in attempting to literalize practically the entire Bible, when it was never meant to be. It is a spiritual problem. To you and people like you, calling the Church Babylon is foolishness, while to us calling the physical city named Babylon, Babylon of the Bible is foolishness.

1st Corinthians 2:9-14
  • "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
  • But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
  • For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
  • Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
  • Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
  • But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."
Boast not against the natural man who cannot understand, for "but by the grace of God go I." It is true that many Christians look upon everyone who professes Christ as Christian, which of course is not the case, and never has been Christ's own words giving witness to this fact! But the wheat grows with the tares until the time of separation. Therefore God says, Watch!

Again, Jerusalem is the New Testament Church and the Kings of the earth are ruled over by her. So actually, that's yet another of many proofs that this Babylon is in fact New Testament Jerusalem. Because the Holy City of Jerusalem from God is the reigning power over the kings of the earth. What kings? As a representation of the city of the great King, the Church is the New Testament Holy City and we, Christians, are kings and merchandise of her merchandises (Gospel). Because Christ came as Priest and reigns as King, the Church is ruled over by Him and reign as kings with Him on Earth. Why? Because Christians are His representatives on earth! So yes, Jerusalem is the reigning power over all the kings of the earth. You have to understand that this body, this great city, is a symbol of Christ who reigns over His kings.

Revelation 5:10
  • "And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth."
Get it?! When will we (as kings) reign on the earth? The unpalatable answer (in some quarters) is that we reign as kings on earth NOW! ...RIGHT NOW and it has been since Pentecost! We (the Church) are the kings of the earth. We are those kings who were ruled over by this great Holy city. Because the Church is the body of Christ on earth. The Church has been given power over the enemy, and that power is not abrogated in the Church until Satan is loosed. As Christ is King of kings. Which means he reigns over the kings of the earth.

Revelation 1:5-6
  • "And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
  • And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen."
We are Christ's Kings of the Earth! Hello?!

There we have our New Testament declaration of who the kings of the earth really are. Christ is the Prince (ruler) of the Kings of the earth, and clearly He has made us (the Church) these kings of the Earth whom He reigns over. So Revelation saying the kings of the earth are those of the Church, should be interpreted "consistently" that way. Not kings of the earth meaning several different things as you believe, like Presidents, Prime Minister, etc. No. It illustrates that they are the Church, and Christ reigns over them as their Prince (Ruler). Prince of the Kings of the earth. In that context of Revelation, Kings of the earth clearly refer to members of the Church, His servants. Nothing new there. The Church is this Great City.

Isaiah 62:12
  • "And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken."
The Church is the extension of Christ on earth, a city not forsaken, and that rules over kings. While by contrast, the world is ruled over by the kingdom of Satan.

Selah!

Again brethren, beware of those who call the Babylon harlot of Revelation anything other than the "great city" like the last verse of Revelation 17:18 does reveal in simplicity.

It is about JERUSALEM, on earth, as we were also shown in Revelation 11 regarding the beast king ascending out of the bottomless pit to kill God's two witnesses in Jerusalem...

Rev 11:8
8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

KJV

Notice in that time (for the end), Jerusalem is spiritually referred to as pagan Sodom and Egypt. Those names are put as descriptors for that future time when God's two witnesses will appear there at the end of this world, and prophesy against the one-world beast system and its beast king for 1260 days.
