BTW
The emboldened is correct, in respect of the Christians righteousness being faith in Christ. All Christians break the law though they do not want to do so. Anyone who happily commits sin without conscience has not been born again, for the law cannot be in their heart.
Your posts on Saturday Sabbath/sunday worship are irrelevant, for as I previously told you in depth, the born again believer MUST have heartfelt conviction they sin when wilfully refusing to follow the law in their mind and heart, something you SHOULD agree with as you keep quoting:
Sin is the transgression of the law.
And
Through the law(within us) we become conscious of sin(rom3:20.
AND YOU CANNOT HIDE FROM THE LAW IN YOUR HEART AND MIND
The wicked heart, which is not submitted to God or His Law, plays hide and seek [as did Adam] and plays pretend with oneself, and thus a person can be self-deceived to think that they are all right with God, when in reality, they are all wrong:

Jeremiah 17:9 KJB - The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Romans 8:7 KJB - Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

Therefore, out of the abundance of that desperately [<-- notice that word!] wicked heart can only come deception:

Jeremiah 9:5 KJB - And they will deceive every one his neighbour, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity.

Matthew 12:34 KJB - O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

The pharisees claimed to have God's law in honour, all the while their hypocrisy was shown in their trasngression of it by their vain traditions, and Jesus especially called them to account for their violation of the Sabbath on numerous occasions.

The Law is Holy, Just and Good and this includes the 4th Commandment, which is the only Commandment of the Ten [symbolizing all, the wholeness of God's Law] with the word Holy in it, see 2 Peter 2:21 KJB. Therefore to teach that it is irrelevant shows your heart.

Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands(what Jesus is teaching) and teaches others accordingly will be called least in(in not out of) the kingdom of heaven Matt5:19

Do you even try and obey each and every command of Christ in the Gospels? Do you not invite friends or family home for a meal, but rather the poor, blind, lame and beggars so you may receive your reward in Heaven? I can quote many more if you wish.

In fifty years of going to various churches I have met NOT ONE person who has even tried to obey each and every literal command of Christ. Will they all go to hell, including you?
You judge what you do not know of me. You did not prove me in error. Your error remains.

Ha! Here's what you originally responded to me with:

COL 2:14-17 The REAL truth from God's Word

How utterly hypocritical [and I mean that from a scriptural definition].
You got the answer didn't you, what are you complaining about?

Is a Christian called to be honest, or may they lie?

Do you even try to obey each and every literal command of Christ in the Gospels?
Thanks in advance for your honest reponse

You got the answer didn't you, what are you complaining about?...
Thanks in advance for your honest reponse
You got your answer also:

COL 2:14-17 The REAL truth from God's Word

Then see also that which was given before it:

If I may ask, since when is the Ten Commandments of God ever "shadow"? The scripture says:

Proverbs 6:23 KJB - For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

Psalms 119:105 KJB - NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Isaiah 8:20 KJB - To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Will you tell me Colossians 2:16-17? See the context, and compare to Ephesians 2 and Hebrews 9-10 KJB. Those are carnal and shadowy things.

God's Ten Commandments are Light and Spiritual things:

Romans 7:14 KJB - For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

See for yourself:

Show me the word "sabbath", "law", "commandment/s", "the 7th day" in the passages of Romans 14 KJB.

Romans 14 KJB, deals with the days that "man esteemeth" among men, see Luke 16:15 KJB. God esteems His Holy day [Job 23:12; Psalms 119:126-128 KJB].

The "day" in Romans 14 is associated with eating and not eating, among "men", which are days set apart for men for fasting/feasting, etc. The Jews had constantly fought with one another over which days were better to do this or that [Matthew 9:14; Mark 2:18; Luke 5:33, 18:12 KJB]. Some Jews decide that any day was fine to do any of those things, while others had specific days picked out for those things [see also the historical source the "Didache"]. Paul stated it didn't matter, and each was fine, so long as either side did it unto the LORD, to the glory of God, not for personal gain/prestige/notice [as the Pharisees had done], but that what mattered was brotherly love within the body, preferring one another.

Connect Romans 14, to 1 Corinthians 8-10 KJB. There were issues with the Gentile believers purchasing food in the shambles [marketplaces] which may have been blessed or offered before idols, and some Jews, and possibly Gentiles believers which took offence at anyone partaking of those things. Paul stated that an Idol is nothing, but the persons for whom Christ Jesus died were of value, and therefore, regard the conscience of another, and cause no one to sin, even if what was eaten was immediately lawful to a person, but such freedom within God's law, not everything is always expedient, or best to do at all times. There were also Jewish beleivers in Christ who still under their vows, even Nazarite vows, and thus things of the vine in matters of eating and drinking would come into play as well. Just because Christ Jesus died on the Cross, doesn't negate their vow - they still had to carry out what they said they would do.

If you Read Romans 1-13, the Law, the Ten Comamndments of God are spoken of and cited throughout, as eternal, as the judge of sin [Romans 7:7 KJB; in fact how did you know you needed as Saviour? What Law was transgressed by yourself? Exodus 20:1-17 KJB], and Romans 15-16 continue and complete this picture. God's Ten Commandments are Eternal [Psalms 89:34 KJB], His Sabbath from Genesis to Revelation, even into the New Heavens and New Earth [Isaiah 66:22-23 KJB].

Colossians 2 KJB, parallels Ephesians 2 KJB, and Hebrews 9-10 KJB. The language is the same. The "ordinances" in Colossians 2 deals with "shadows", such as the daily "meat and drink" offerings of a worldly sanctuary and carnal ordinances, the seasonal "feast days", the monthly "new moons", and the year based "sabbaths", in the singular, every 7 and 50th years, as Paul is citing Psalms 98:1-3; and Ezekiel 45:17 KJB with other texts.

The Sabbath of the LORD thy God is always called "my [as in God's] sabbaths", and the others in Leviticus 23:4 onward are called "your [the peoples] sabbaths" [Leviticus 26:35 KJB] which are "beside [given in addition to] the sabbaths of the LORD" [Leviticus 23:38 KJB]. The Ten Commandments, including the Sabbath of the 4th Commandment, are "light" [Proverbs 6:23, Isaiah 8:20, 51:4 KJB], never a "shadow", are "spiritual" [Romans 7:14 KJB], never "carnal" [Hebrews 9:10 KJB].

Colossians 2:14 - "ordinances"
Ephesians 2:15 - "law of commandments contained in ordinances"
Hebrews 9:1 - "ordinances of divine service"
Hebrews 9:10 - "carnal ordinances"

Colossians 2:16 - "in meat, or in drink" [offerings]
Hebrews 9:10 - "meats and drinks" [offerings]

Colossians 2:12 - "also ye are risen with him"
Ephesians 2:6 - "raised us up together"

Colossians 2:16 - "a shadow of things to come"
Ephesians 2:7 - "in the ages to come"
Hebrews 9:11 - "of good things to come"
Hebrews 10:1 - "the law having a shadow of good things to come", "those sacrifices", "offered year by year"

[ps. none of the Ten Commandments deal with carnal sacrifices]
etc.

It's easy to turn a willingly blind eye to evidence when it doesn't suit our own sins and rebellion to God, even to Jesus commandment to repent [John 14:15; Exodus 20:6 KJB].
I'll wait for you to prove this wrong, instead of just:

Terrible exegesis

Therefore:

Prove my error, or you have proven yours.
I pray you actually think about what was written.

Therefore:

I pray you actually think about what was written.
I see you had to duck answering the question. I can only assume then you have one rule for yourself to enter heaven and a different rule for everyone else.
I have better things to do with my time than continue such a conversation when such an attitude is placed before me.
Bye
BTW
The Pharisees were just the same you know, one rule for themselves, and one rule for everyone else

Easy to run from the actual context when you are in the error, for whatsoever doth make manifest [reveals] is light, and darkness cannot abide the light:

Matthew 5:20 KJB - For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Just as the pharisees fled from the face of Christ's [the Sun/Light of righteousness] exposition.

Well I will just tell you what I told LGW. Its a pity you do not understands the core foundation on which the Christian faith is based. The law is in your mind and heart. You cannot hide from that law, and through the law you become conscious of sin(rom3:20
Therefore, if you are correct, no one can have been born again/a Christian unless they have heartfelt conviction they sin by failing to observe a set Saturday Sabbath. So, if(if) you understand the core foundation of the Christian faith, you must consider you are chatting to a heathen/unsaved person. I assume you joined the website to debate with christians

I see you cannot respond to what is written.

Now I must go to work

What we have in common is we both walk according to the knowledge we have, rather than doing anything our conscience would rather shield us from. We are mature Christians.

I recently posted, maybe even in this thread somewhere that I love SDAs because you cover all the bases to be right with God. You keep the 10C, believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and you love your neighbor. Plus I love Choplets! I don't keep the day, but I do believe strongly that Jesus is my Sabbath rest everyday. He speaks to me, and if ever He wants me to keep His shadow, I certainly will. We seem to have the same heart toward God to be ever pleasing to Him. And according to 1 John 3:21-23 I keep those commandments and He shows me I am pleasing Him by answering all my prayers according to His will in how He directs me to pray. We both have a strong fear of the Lord, so I guess we are pretty wise. LOL I won't even date, even though my husband left me for the wife of his best friend. But God had prophesied to me the week before I found out, that He was releasing me, and that I would forget the past. I didn't know what it meant until the announcement by my husband. It was a long prophecy that came true. He released me from that abusive marriage, but he's still alive, so am not free to remarry. And if it is lawful, He hasn't brought me anyone new. And I'm sure not looking.

Where does it say in God's WORD that Jesus is a Sabbath? God's WORD only says the Sabbath is the Seventh day of the week and Jesus is the creator of it and it is the "Lords Day" and the 4th Commandment in the 10 Commandments. (Genesis 2:1-3; Exodus 20:8-11; Mark 2:27-28; Matthew 12:8).

There is NO scripture anywhere in God's WORD that says Jesus is a Sabbath. This is an invention of those who seek to follow the teachings and traditions of men that changed the day in order to break the commandments of God (Matthew 15:3-9)

................

You know 1stcenturylady, all of the scripture shared here with you and to everyone for that matter is only ever written in LOVE...

................

SIN is the breaking of God's Commandments (James 2:9-11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4)

Those who CONTINUE in UNREPENTANT SIN will NOT enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN because they are still in BONDAGE to SIN and are SERVANTS of SIN and have not been BORN again to be FREE of the SINS they KNOW about.

................

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has led many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's 4th Commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to KEEP Sunday as a Holy day.

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

In times of ignorance God winks at but now ,<when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come> calls all men everywhere to REPENT (FOLLOW) (Acts 17:30-31).

Your quote in James is comparing the punishment for the 10C against the law of liberty.

It is not saying they are one and the same. James is just saying that we who are under the law of liberty need to be even more careful than those who had been under the Law, as they are much stricter as it demands perfection at the very core of our being. Not just murder, but all the way to hate, etc.

As for the Law of Liberty, Romans 14 is one of the best places to show us that those laws are based on our conscience, and are different for each of us. And our conscience is where the Holy Spirit seems to dwell. I make sure I go to bed with a clear conscience every night.

You say the 10C are the Laws of Liberty. No, they are in fact a few other names. The Mosaic Law, according to some, the Law, The Ministry of Death, and the law of Sin and Death, 9 For if the ministry of condemnation had glory,

" But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, (the Ten Commandments)" (2 Cor. 3:5), ministry of condemnation (2 Cor. 3:9), "set me free from the law of sin and death." Romans 8:2

The Law of Liberty is called the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ, (Romans 8:2) and Walking in the Spirit (Romans 8:1), Ministry of the Spirit (2 Cor. 3:8), ministry of righteousness (2 Cor. 3:9)

Galatians 3:22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. 23 But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. 24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.

Romans 7 tells us the law was holy. The problem was SIN. 1 John 3:5 says that Jesus was manifested to take away our sin, and in Him there is no sin. This was the fulfillment of Daniel 9 prophecy.

To finish the transgression,
To make an end of sins,
To make reconciliation for iniquity,
To bring in everlasting righteousness,

It seems you have just simply ignored the post I have sent.

Summarised the post you ignored is showing that the "LAW OF LIBERTY" = OBEDIENCE to GOD'S LAW by FAITH that works by LOVE through WALKING in the SPIRIT.

Or simply put OBEDIENCE to GOD's LAW by FAITH or

RIGHTEOUSNESS BY FAITH...

You cannot separate LIBERTY and RIGHTEOUSNESS from GOD's LAW because it is the KNOWLEDGE of what SIN and RIGHTEOUNESS is. (ROMANS 3:20; PS 119:172; ROMANS 7:7; 1 JOHN 3:4; JAMES 2:11).

Hello The7thColporteur,

Welcome to the thread here and very nice to meet you. Well written and nice to see someone finally talking about the OP here. Sorry at the moment everyone seems to want to talk about anything else except the OP. o_O

I would not worry to much about what some people say. I think people can see who have God's WORD and who does not.

Thanks for sharing and nice to meet you

If you were not someone who only had the ability to see the letter itself you would be able to discern, as would istcenturylady that the Christian is delivered from a lifestyle of sin. That is what they die to and are dead to. The Christian is not sin free. They are a work in progress all their life. I can only assume, as you agree with istcenturylady you must also believe the Corinthian church did not commit sin. Hopeless I'm afraid And, if you could summon up the courage/humility to be honest, you would admit you commit sin also. In my view, it is better to be honest, not just reel the partial letter from the top of our heads that is devoid of the reality of our lives. Neither would you keep quoting 1John 3:9 with your understanding of it to a young teenager would you(well you would be stupid to do it.) This may be an internet debating website, but do try not to separate what you write here from the reality of your life

You are free to BELIEVE God's WORD of not BELIEVE God's WORD. I do not judge you. Did you have any scripture to share Marco? So far you have mainly provided your word over God's WORD that disagrees with you.

................

BTW
The emboldened is correct, in respect of the Christians righteousness being faith in Christ. All Christians break the law though they do not want to do so. Anyone who happily commits sin without conscience has not been born again, for the law cannot be in their heart.
Your posts on Saturday Sabbath/sunday worship are irrelevant, for as I previously told you in depth, the born again believer MUST have heartfelt conviction they sin when wilfully refusing to follow the law in their mind and heart, something you SHOULD agree with as you keep quoting: Sin is the transgression of the law And Through the law(within us) we become conscious of sin(rom3:20. AND YOU CANNOT HIDE FROM THE LAW IN YOUR HEART AND MIND

God's WORD disagrees with you. Do you have any scripture to share for your teaching? It seems not.
