GWU Offering ‘Christian Privilege’ Training For Students And Faculty

“How do Christians in the USA experience life in an easier way than non-Christians? Even with the separation of Church and State, are there places where Christians have built-in advantages over non-Christians? How do we celebrate Christian identities and acknowledge that Christians receive unmerited perks from institutions and systems all across our country?” the event description reads.

In case anyone is confused, Privilege is the Progressive Left's secular version of Original Sin, except there's nothing one can do to be redeemed from it.

Seems to me that the door to public persecution is slowly opening more and more due to things like this. I'd give it 20 years, and then it'll be rampant all over the world, even in the western "Christian" countries. They're going to make it harder and harder to try to live a separated lifestyle from the world.

To be fair, I dislike it when Christians expect to get our way ALL the time. In other words, we are a secular society and quite frankly we want to stay that way, and that means that we cannot expect that everything will "favor" Christianity.

When do Christians ever get their way? Abortion is legal (and even encouraged), homosexuality is perfectly acceptable, we have a military-industrial complex that has its hands all over the world, causing instability and "peace-keeping through intimidation and force." Our President seemingly is Christian, but his fruits speak otherwise, our colleges and universities preach evolution with a nice dose of hatred against the very thought of Creationism, the Bible is not read in schools, public-prayers are frowned upon, and school-prayers are presently attacked. Many churches are labelled as hate-groups by the government because they preach against LGBT, but the churches that are accepted are the ones that do not preach the truth of the Bible, nor preach the true Gospel of Christ. There is a satanic statue erected in Detroit amongst other places, atheism is glorified as the faith of the modern times, with Scientism being its religion where the false prophets such as Neil Degrasse Tyson, Bill Nye, Stephen Hawking, Einstein, Brian Green and all of the other popular "scientists" spew their "theoretical, but mathematically plausible" science falsely so called and tricking millions of people into believing their lies. Crime and terrorist acts, paranoia, and immorality are at an all-time high with the glorification of transgenderism and other abominations all over our national television networks, with Hollywood as its main propaganda arm wherein it makes movies about greek gods and goddesses, and other pagan beliefs. The Law of God is hated and almost considered "obsolete" morality, and most call, what used to be thought of as evil, good and righteous men who preach the truth are hated by the world.

Yeah, we're a secular society and this is what has happened to us. Maybe, if our government favored Christianity more and loved the Law of God, we wouldn't be in this mess.

With all due respect you do not want to NOT live in a secular society. Moreover crime is actually at some of its LOWEST levels in human history.

That is a very good explanation Rion.

A fair view. However, we Christians are in the 'town square' so to speak and as beacons of light for the Lord should be shining that light. People should point in the town square and say "yep that's a Christian."

As Americans and Christians we also have the right to freely exercise our religion without government interference. In our post-modern secular society such is defined as "go ahead as long as you 'do it' in your churches and at home." Public displays are not only frowned upon but in some cases brought up for civil law suits.

I am reminded of the late 19th century and early 20th century tent revivals and town square evangelism which today is resisted by some communities. Christ in Matthew 28 told His disciples to go out to all nations and make disciples and baptize them. We cannot do this holed up in our churches and homes.

A fairly large block of my fellow Christians have what could be called an entitlement mentality. For a great many centuries we Christians have had things our own way and have controlled society to such an extent that we have been able to impose our own agenda without challenge. However, when minority groups started demanding and receiving rights that they had previously been denied, rights that Christians held all along, these same Christians felt threatened and some even claimed that they were being persecuted. Rights and freedoms are not part of a zero-sum game. Expanding them does not thereby reduce them for some other group. For example, extending marriage rights to homosexuals has not reduced the rights of heterosexuals in the slightest way. In reality Christians have lost no rights and are not threatened in any meaningful way. In Canada and the USA Christians are certainly not being persecuted. If this sense of "Privilege" is a sort of original sin in our society then as Christians our redemption from it is obvious --- we reject outright our societal entitlement and privilege in favour of just treatment for all.

But we in the USA and Canada do live in a secular society. There is no reason at all that a secular society cannot also be a moral and an ethical society. We are actually doing a pretty good job of that right now. Some of the most crime ridden nations today are also those that are the most religious.

I did not say it could not be an ethical society but there are certain topics in a secular society where ethics are debated such as homosexuality.

yes, and that is fine, but having LAWS that favor Christians should not be, nor should Christians have issues with people of other religions engaging in the same practices ( such as street preaching.)

I did not say it could not be an ethical society but there are certain topics in a secular society where ethics are debated such as homosexuality.

It is an ethical debate as to whether or not homosexuals are to be treated justly or not. This is different than the moral debate which is entirely personal.

Why is it that morality is so subjective these days? Why is it that our society and generation are so quick to adopt moral relativity? What happened to God's Word and what it says?

Whatever Mankind decides morally or ethically is potatoes when it stands before what God thinks and decides. We call ourselves Christians, so why do we not align ourselves with what God thinks regarding morality, laws, and ethics? The Bible has all the answers, and if we wanted an actually just and righteous society, that's exactly where we would go to for our laws and thoughts regarding certain issues. Even Christians these days are so quick to throw out the wisdom of the Lord, and adhere to the wisdom of the world. However, the world's wisdom is foolishness to God (1 Corinthians 3:19). The current world we live in is FAR from just and righteous.

You're not going to like the Millennial Kingdom of Jesus Christ, then.

Because it won't be a secular society and it will be a monarchy with Jesus Christ as the King. There will be no other religions other than worship of the Lord, and all crime will be punished swiftly and completely. Homosexuality will be punishable by death and God's law will be reinstituted. From what I gather, for most Christians on this website, that sounds like their worst nightmare.
