This is so sad :( He has been in so much agony for a great portion of his life and because he did not believe in God he will not get to experience the joy of having a glorified body or Christ or anything.

Theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking has died at 76

Stephen Hawking now knows that God is real. I am sadden for his soul. He made a statement that said because of gravity the earth can and will create itself. He was pretty sure God was not real. Well, now he knows the truth.

I am not a moral person, so I have no right to take a moral high ground. I know the truth and I continue to sin. If I die my punishment will be worse then his. For Paul said that it would be better for a non-believer to never hear the truth then for a believer to hear the truth and continue to sin.

I'm sad for him too, but I'm more concerned about your confession. Do you need some counseling?

I don't think OP needs counseling. I think OP simply recognizes that it isn't our place to judge another soul. The only soul we can account for is our own. Although "Well, he believes in God now" was my automatic first thought when I read the news, nobody should judge Stephen Hawking or speculate on his eternal destination. We simply don't know. We can never say with any certainty that anyone died unsaved. Reason, we don't know what their dying thought was. If they called out to Jesus at the last possible second, the parable of the eleventh-hour workers tells me that's good enough.

He knows whether he needs it or not. I'll leave it up to him.

Can we not turn this into a thread about how "now he knows the truth" and all that? Let's make it about him and his contributions, not about people using this sad time to promote their own beliefs?

"Now he knows the truth" is part of the OP. Nobody else is "turning" the thread into that. And this is, above all, a Christian forum. Something is wrong if you're not allowed to promote Christianity on a Christian forum.

Oops!!! I should have known that my responses was going to upset people. My point wasn't to make a judgement towards him. My point was to make a judgement towards me. But you are completely right I don't know where he is and I am not God. And believe me I do not want to make any kind of judgment towards him for that is God's job. But either the Bible is true or not.

All I know is that scripture says that it is appointed to man to die once and then a judgement. I am hoping and praying that there is Mercy after death. But from what I read in the Bible if we don't repent here on Earth it doesn't seem like it. But you are right he could have repented before he died. I just thought if he had done this, it would have been in the news.

And those of you who say that I shouldn't focus on my own beliefs, this is a Christian forum. No one here is doing anything to you. No one here is forcing you to believe what I believe.

I am really sorry for upsetting you. I was using his death to make a judgment on my own life but I in turn made a judgement on whether he was truly saved or not. That was not my intention but I understand how it sounded. I really don't know where he is, only God does.

Thanks. We as brothers and sisters in Christ His Church are all pilgrims living in an unholy land. We need each other.

You just never thought this day would ever come given all the odds he defied. Let us all pray for this man that if there is a God he will have mercy on this man and his unbelief in the one and only savior and allow him into the holy kingdom through grace alone.
