What age would you allow your kids watch The walking dead?

I haven't watched it. However, I started letting my kids have some say in their decision making after they were young teenagers and solid in their faith. I'd rather they be exposed to this stuff when I am living with them and can recognize if it is starting to affect them than waiting until they move out as adults and they get bombarded with "real life".

They have freewill and can do what they choose when they grow older and move, Just not in my house that I have dedicated to the Lord.
I believe children need boundaries and we should love them enough to set them some boundaries to give them the best opportunities to succeed as moral, upstanding, decent citizens. Just as though the Father corrects us when we get off tract, so should we correct them. For their good, Out of love :]

Celebrate! LOL

Good for you. My adult kids still come to me for advice and my opinion. I value that more than celebrating that I got them to 18 without the tools they need to manage in the real world or making them completely dependent on me. They are both moral, ethical people who know the Lord.

A seventeen year old isn't any more a "child" than an eighteen year old. The difference is only in legal status, not really in maturity.

16+ if they wanted to......not everyone likes the show.
I like the show. But I never watched it. With kids around. And I haven't got to watch it in awhile. Meaning I cant. Or I value computer and gardening more. But my 9 year old nephew watches it, and plays the walking dead X BOX game all the time. And I'm bugged that my nephew watches it. The parents let him. I watch him during the day. I just don't understand how a parent allows their kids to watch this and other crazy things. I'm not even religious. But I'm bugged by this.

When they get older than me...!

We only set the standard for what is played in our own house (regardless of age). When they are at someone else's house (or their own), it is out of our jurisdiction.

I love playing zombie games with my son's. I can't see anything bad happening from watching the show. I have a son older than 9....haven't considered watching with them......not sure I will. Personal preference......and the show is on too late for them to watch anyway.

You need to get caught up....you don't know what you are missing.

I think in a matter of a few months he's caught up. He's more caught up then me. He pretends to be a walker and goes after his brother, baby sister and me. He even bit me. I was tired of playing his stupid game and thought he would only pretend to bite me. But he bit me hard. He's lucky I can contain myself. And didn't beat him . I'm not understanding why his parents allow him to watch or play these X Box games. Since he has issues. That seem to be ignores. If he was my child. He would be in Christian schools. Personally this has taught me to keep any future kids of mine in a tight bubble.

This changes things....Letting someone with known issues watch these shows or play certain games makes it a little harder.....a maybe unwise. (Be careful with episode 7:1..... even i had a hard time with that one....and cant see a child taking it too well) There are children who bite other children who never watched a zombie movie.

These things were not hidden from me as a child....yet I am successful, have a bit of education and know the Lord. I dont believe that these things can change a person.

I play zombie games with my children....and they have never bit anyone, or pretended to be a zombie.....although I believe Id find it a funny sight to see.

If he was my child. He would be in Christian schools

I've had all my children in "christian schools" until the age limit was reached.......not because I felt it would benefit them spiritually....but because of the convenience and afterschool care. They are high priced and, as a former teacher, I've found the education lacking...... Because they are mostly private, they do not have to adhere to state education standards...which could leave them behind their peers.......as they are not required to have teachers with degrees or experience.

But you can find better luck in your area.

Sheltering your children would be a mistake......It is best they experience things when they are with you to guide them, than to learn things new when they are 17/18 and already feel that they can do without you, and then are more likely to listen to their peers over you.

Take a look at your responses.....do you really want to be like the ones who judge you based on the tv shows you watch or the music you listen to? Do you want your children to grow up and look down on others because they listen to "better music" or dont watch tv? These are not personalities that too many people would want to be around...

My children have not watched this show.....yet I would not feel im a better parent than the people you mentioned simply because of this fact. However....if I was taught, growing up, that good people dont watch this or listen to that.....then maybe I would feel that i was better than they are now.

Pride it not a fruit of the spirit
