1 Corinthians 2:12
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
Romans 8:15
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Binding and Loosing

To bind means to condemn, and to loose means to forgive. Binding satan’s influence over self looses the freedom of forgiveness provided at the cross Matthew 6:10, Revelation 11:15, Matthew 4:17, Romans 16:20 and is the meaning of the power of dominion. ‘For greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.’

Matthew 18:18
Truly I say to you, Whatever you bind on the earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on the earth shall have been loosed in heaven.
John 20:23
Whosever sins you forgive, they are forgiven them; and whosever sins you retain, they are retained.

The Lord's way of condemning allows for one's own words and thoughts to do the condemning. Genesis 38:26, Ezekiel 36:31, Matthew 26:25

The sinless Lord only was fit to condemn the woman caught in adultery and He refused to. John 8:1-11, Jeremiah 17:13. It makes me wonder if the power to bind and lose won't end up being a test upon the church and us as individuals because of being a test of Jesus' authority when He forgave the man lifted down thru the ceiling. The Pharisees sought to condemn Him because "only God can forgive sins" Luke 5:17-26

John 16:8
And when He comes, He will convict the world concerning sin and concerning righteousness and concerning …

In conviction people condemn themselves. But it is God who forgives thru the accepted work of Christ Jesus. The bible says to basically forgive everyone everything or we will not be forgiven ourselves. That includes forgiving oneself for our own safekeeping. On earth as it is in heaven.

1 Corinthians 4:5
So then do not judge anything before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and make manifest the counsels of the hearts, and then there will be praise to each from God.
1 John 3:20
Because if our heart blames us, it is because God is greater than our heart and knows all things.

Directly following the verse of sins forgiven or retained, Jesus made the point of saying ’blessed are they that believe without seeing' referring to Thomas's confession of 'my Lord and my God' John 20:24-29.
Can there be salvation apart from that belief I wonder?
"Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe!” “My Lord and my God!” Thomas exclaimed. Then Jesus told him, “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.”
Belief that leads to a glorious life. Not w/o trials but is of the inheritance 1 Peter 1:4, 7 The spiritual world of the invisible is as real as any material thing. In fact that which is seem is merely a shadow of reality.
1 Peter 1:8
Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,

In the final analysis my stand must be with that which took place outside the camp, where the innocent, the neglected and those silenced by death are gathered together. ..Where Jesus suffered and died. Hebrews 13:12-16, Exodus 33:1-11
Hebrews 13:10
We have an altar from which those who serve at the tabernacle have no right to eat.
Joshua 22:28
And if they will say so, they shall answer them: Behold the altar of the Lord, which our fathers made, not for holocausts, nor for sacrifice, but for a testimony between us and you.
As the red heifer that purified outside the camp so is Christ Jesus. Hebrews 10:12

Moses was not a prophet but he was one to whom God spoke with face to face. Speaking against him brought about a leprose condition for His Holy Name’s sake Ezekiel 36:23 After all prophets merely heard from God in dreams and visions and not in face to face encounters where God shone on him in transformation glory. God dealt with him directly as Moses was beholding and reflecting God. Numbers 12:8, Hebrews 3:5, Revelation 21:11, Revelation 21:23-24, Proverbs 25:12

The first healing performed by Jesus was to heal the leper, “Lord,”he said, “if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.”Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” The unclean outside the camp are willingly brought nigh to Him. Lepers knew that the willing Jesus could cleanse them but the priests wouldn’t have thought so. Them, as professional diagnosers, declaring the leper clean was giving an expert eyewitness account to the authenticity of the miracle. Romans 12:1, 2 Corinthians 5:17
Matthew 10:8
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay.
2 Corinthians 7:1
Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God

With the image of God exercising dominion over the enemy of God, God Himself completes His rest, we find our rest, and the rest is yet to come. Hosea 2:21-23, Matthew 6:33

2 Corinthians 3:18.
"And we all with unveiled face, beholding and reflecting as a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord Spirit."
The Lord Jesus said, "Truly I say to you, There are some of those standing here who shall by no means taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom. And after six days Jesus takes with Him Peter and James and John his brother, and brings them up into a high mountain apart. And He was transfigured before them, and His face shone as the sun, and His garments became white as the light."

Simply, beholding and reflecting ‘as in a mirror’ at the transformative figure of Christ , heaven finds it’s way to earth and death and the grave are swallowed in victory in a new creation’s life.

Great verses.

Actually when I saw the title, I thought it referred to something like Proverbs 4.3: "Thy lips are like a thread of scarlet, and thy speech is comely".

We have to forgive in order to be forgiven. If we do not forgive our fellow servants then God will not forgive us. This is a work of God in us. Sometimes we are not able our own to do what only God can do in and through us.

Matthew 18 33 "The Unforgiving Servant
…32 Then the master summoned him and declared, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave all your debt because you begged me. 33 Should you not have had mercy on your fellow servant, just as I had on you?’ 34 In his anger, his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should repay all that he owed.…"

  • The scarlet thread is the Bloodline of Jesus. This extends to people like Rehab the harlot and Solomon the son of Bathsheba the women David committed adultery with. These people were really not the most worthy, they were the physical bloodline of Jesus - they were the people that needed the Divine Blood of Jesus the most. Mary was pure and clean because of the Divine blood even though she was descended from women like the harlot and the adulterous women.

Rest

Spiritual rest is important for spiritual wellbeing. The Sabbath rest called Today
Hebrews 4:1-10
(The Rest That God Promised)
Therefore, while the promise of entering his rest is still open, let us take care that none of you should seem to have failed to reach it.
For indeed the good news came to us just as to them; but the message they heard did not benefit them, because they were not united by faith with those who listened.
For we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said,
“As in my anger I swore,
‘They shall not enter my rest,’”
though his works were finished at the foundation of the world.
For in one place it speaks about the seventh day as follows, “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works.”
And again in this place it says, “They shall not enter my rest.”
Since therefore it remains open for some to enter it, and those who formerly received the good news failed to enter because of disobedience,
again he sets a certain day—“today”—saying through David much later, in the words already quoted,
“Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts.”
For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not speak later about another day.
So then, a sabbath rest still remains for the people of God;
for those who enter God’s rest also cease from their labors as God did from his.

From the beginning of the book of Hebrews to the end we're aware that no matter what ways God had announced Himself beforehand to human beings the only way that He is now made known is thru Jesus Christ. Iow God had used the things of the Old Testament times to present to His people many pictures of Christ from different angles. In our age of New Testament times God would rather that we look not to the old wine but to look to the new Hebrews 3:1, Hebrews 12:2

Christ's incarnation has enabled Him to take the place of the sinner by paying the required payment to restore him/her to the glory and authority which God gave humankind at creation. Hebrews 1:1-4, Genesis 1:26, John 1:12 In effect the incarnation is the means for Him to become our merciful, faithful high priest because His humiliation and exaltation is the provision of God for our redemption and restoration.

The first generation of wilderness wanderers didn't achieve rest, not even Moses. Only in Christ is that rest accomplished. Christ, the rock that Moses struck to get the water gushing out, needed to merely be spoken to after that. Initial faith followed by ongoing faith. The bible, as God's inspired breath, began with Moses' inspired writings but is finished in Jesus Christ speaking to the church. The life element, God's essence in light, love, power, wisdom, and much else, is contained within His Word. We can go to Him with an open heart and open spirit to touch the divine heart of God striving for the rest based on His high priestly ministry Hebrews 4:12-16 Hear His voice today in obedience and do not harden the heart in sins of the past Psalms 95 failing to enter the rest due to unbelief and disobedience. Hebrews 3:8 300 yrs after the completed writings the Book was affirmed and sealed until a few hundreds years ago, once again we are without excuse. He says, "I am life," and "I am come that you may have life." The whole Bible is a revelation of Christ as life. John 5:39-40, 2 Corinthians 3:6, Luke 24:27, Luke 24:44 Creation itself was for the purpose of glorifying Him Colossians 1:15-19 so that He might come to have first place in everything. He is the alpha and omega. FI: In letting go of cozy firearms ... qvashti,pilgrimage,obsolete ... and allowing that pacifism is what is required of me 1 Corinthians 13:11 growth and God's control are given the lead. The desert wilderness doesn't supply rest but only death to those tested, save possibly two. Numbers 14:24, :Numbers 14:6-9 Then in the good land many demons found within are fought. Judges 5:31 Yahweh’s people entered His rest in the land only after the enemies had been defeated then the inheritance was procured.

NT maturity reveals the spiritual faith of entering the rest called Today and is the at-one-ment sought from a pure heart.

The different phases of growth can be seen as ... Regeneration followed by biblical growth culminating in coming to Christ directly ..another way of saying .. from being a grumbler/complainer to learning to soar above the problems to coming to the aide of others .. or again .. the process of justification and sanctification leading to glory upon glory. Psalms 66:10-12, Luke 11:45-46, Galatians 6:1-3

Today being ready, at His call, to move into greater light.

Hebrews 3:7-8
Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says,
“Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,
as on the day of testing in the wilderness,
Psalms 95:7
For he is our God,
and we are the people of his pasture,
and the sheep of his hand.
O that today you would listen to his voice!

We need maturity to encourage others in their growth.
Hebrews 3:12-13
See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has an evil, unbelieving heart that forsakes the living God. But exhort one another each day, as long as it is called “Today,” that none of you may become hardened by sin’s deception.
Hebrews 10:23-25
Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful.
And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds,
not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

We've been given rest from fighting in the flesh, that Sabbath given from the Lord of the Sabbath to His disciples. Romans 8:1-17, John 15:1-14
As well as God's finished work found in Christ worked into our lives Matthew 11:28-30, Hebrews 13:5
And as His abiding disciples we are with/in Him in all things to be a light to the world that shines straight the way to the Father Hebrews 10:32-39, Philippians 2:4, Philippians 2:15, Daniel 12:3
*****************
Today
Christ has claims on us that Moses never had (being the builder of the house rather than the house itself) so don't incurr disfavor.

.....Hebrews 3:1-7,Hebrews 3:8-11....

Psalms 95:7-11
For He is our God; and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. To day if ye will hear His voice,
Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

When your fathers tempted Me, proved Me, and saw My Work.

Forty years long was I grieved with this generation,

and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known My Ways:
Unto whom I sware in My Wrath that they should not enter into My rest.

......Hebrews 3:12-17......

Hebrews 3:18-19
And to whom sware He that they should not enter into His rest, but to them that believed not?
So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

Psalms 95:7
For He is our God; and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. To day if ye will hear His voice,
Mark 3:5
And when He had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, He saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

........ Mark 3:4-6 ......... Grieve not the Holy Spirit

Something else that's been on my mind for the past while:

When to fast? When outer conditions don't meet the inner condition; old wineskins containing new wine. Legalistic thinking interfering with graces leading to higher levels.
Jesus said the followers of John (old covenant) should fast because the 'bridegroom' isn't with his 'friend'. This typifies the reverse movement from heaven to earth of heart knowledge replacing head knowledge.
The new wine represents the new joyful life in Christ (inner condition) while the old wine (outer condition) still reflects the state of mind of sad pre-occupation of heart and soul not yet accepting anything new given of the Holy Spirit revealed but willfully rejected.
The action of grief in the sight of the bridegroom was causeless and resulted in willful idleness.
The outward act should be made to correspond to inward condition of mind. Things new and unusual need manifold apology to show in all voluntary religious service, and no attempt should be made to force particular acts and habits (or taking away of habitual acts) without reference to that correspondence. That would have been the Lord's argument to validate/vindicate departure from current usage in matters of religion it seems.

The crux of the matter is in believing outwardly the lies of the devil while inwardly accepting the truth of grace. (double-mindedness) It's the flesh not yet in resurrection, and displaying a fear of the divine as seen in Peter " Depart from me, for I am a sinful man" upon seeing the miracle of the indraft of fish in the nets.
The hypocracy is in conforming outwardly to that which there is no inner respect. Dead works are also death producing. "We all do fade as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away"
The disciples of the new wine were more able to come to His rest, displaying physical and spiritual wellbeing from whence came a rare moral courage. Accustomed as they were to years of standing alone, disregarding the fashions of the world, doing right heedless of human criticism, seemingly without effort and almost without thought, they prevailed in the Way of the Lord.

'the bride has made herself ready'?

Ephesians 4:13-14
until we all reach the unity of faith and knowledge of God’s Son. God’s goal is for us to become mature adults—to be fully grown, measured by the standard of the fullness of Christ. As a result, we aren’t supposed to be infants any longer who can be tossed and blown around by every wind that comes from teaching with deceitful scheming and the tricks people play to deliberately mislead others.

We need to pay attention to one thing: the full salvation which God has prepared for us must be received in full and obtained in full. I do not believe in perfection in sinlessness, perfection in eradication of sin; but I believe in the perfection to which God can save me. I believe that the cross is not an eradication of me, but a substitution of me through the Lord's death. God is not uprooting my sin or evil; rather, He is giving me a Christ who lives in me. Formerly, it was Christ who died for me on the cross. Now it is He who lives for me within. Before it was the substitutionary death; now it is the substitutionary living. The extent of my receiving salvation is the extent of God's salvation to me. We do not have to remain in any temper, worry, filthiness, or lust. God can save us and set us free from all of these things. He will deliver us not only from what is bad but also will impart what is good into us. Quote from Watchman Nee ~ The present testimony

As members of one body the Father has bestowed gifts to all for the purpose of edifying one another .. and .. all are to bring their gifts to the table. 1 Corinthians 14:26, Romans 12:5-18
Being confident in His care and love reciprecated, growing from infancy to maturity in moral character, 1 Corinthians 14:20 we're at the same time being fitted together as living stones building up His temple, knowing that our own care for each other spiritually establishes the other great commandment of one heart toward each other Jeremiah 32:38-40, Ezekiel 11:19-20, Acts of the Apostles 4:32-35, Matthew 6:21 in all heart, soul, mind and strength. Romans 15:1, 1 John 2

So vertically and horizontally the cross is doing it's work. Peace becomes established when we don't take on His Name in vain. Exodus 20:7, Isaiah 29, Matthew 15:7-9
In deed that is vanity. Being aware that the battle is not against flesh and blood, flesh and blood needs also be aware that the alternative is fighting against God. John 3:17-19, Jeremiah 7:4-11, Hebrews 3:8, Hebrews 3:15
As people separated to the Lord we reach the unity of faith and knowledge of God’s Son together in making ourselves ready for His return Ephesians 4:13-14, Revelation 19:7, Matthew 5:14-16
while the Savior fights the battle against the world/satan and self for us. 2 Corinthians 2:15-17, John 8:12.

In always keeping His return in sight we can't slack off but be vigilent as keepers of the house that awaits in faith. Luke 18:8, Matthew 5:13, 2 Peter 1:10 “He spoke a parable to them that men ought always to pray and not to faint.” Matthew 25:29, 1 Peter 4:10, Titus 2:11-14

Psalms 2
Why do the nations rant?
Why do the peoples rave uselessly?
The earth’s rulers take their stand;
the leaders scheme together
against the Lord an
against his anointed one.
“Come!” they say.
“We will tear off their ropes
and throw off their chains!”
The one who rules in heaven laughs;
my Lord makes fun of them.
But then God speaks to them angrily;
then he terrifies them with his fury:
“I hereby appoint my king on Zion,
my holy mountain!”
I will announce the Lord’s decision:
He said to me, “You are my son,
today I have become your father.
Just ask me,
and I will make the nations your possession;
the far corners of the earth will be your property.
You will smash them with an iron rod;
you will shatter them like a pottery jar.”
So kings, wise up!
Be warned, you rulers of the earth!
Serve the Lord reverently—
trembling,
kiss his feet (son is in Aramiac, not Hebrew)
or else he will become angry,
and your way will be destroyed
because his anger ignites in an instant.
But all who take refuge in the Lord are truly happy!

1 Peter 1:17-21
And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

There's an attribute of God as to His mercy and justice that is carried thru-out the prophets and psalmists and given a different emphasis of meaning to each as it has related to their own experiences. Nahum 1:2-3 in vindication. Or repentant community Joel 2:13 In fact Jonah used it in a prayer motivated by anger to accuse God! Jonah 4:2 Others used it for hymns such as Psalms 111:4, Psalms 112:4, Psalms 145:8 or a song of thanksgiving Psalms 103:8 and as an individual lament in Psalms 85:5 Psalms 86:15. The same attribute used in prayer Numbers 14:18; Jeremiah 32:18 and in supplication Nehemiah 1:5 and used to sustain even the guilty Nehemiah 9:27-28, 31.

All of which shows forth God’s care for each individual that comes to Him as well as for His inclusive care of His Family.
Exodus 34:6-7; Deuteronomy 5:9-10; Exodus 20:5-6; Deuteronomy 5:3; Deuteronomy 7:9-10
In all it shows a balanced picture that entails scripture itself revealing multiple levels of interpretation of itself that involves a process of understanding.

But I especially love how God Himself drew the picture of His own hermeneutics of Mercy and Justice, offering the interpretative clue within the text, in the form of shelter, shade and wind to bring it into present context. (re: Jonah 4:5-11) In this can be seen (individually) how His ways are so much higher than our own while also (nationally) how the Jews were shaded by the law but tribulation came from the wind of change to those who didn't accept Gentile/Jewish/bond/free/etc inclusiveness of the new covenant as seen in the destruction of temple, sacrifices and priesthood (the book of Hebrews). Jonah would rather have died than see Nineveh saved.

The old covenant only had the shadow of good things to come, protecting them in the land of promise from temporal evil, but emptied out and faded away in captive dispersion. Jonah only enjoyed the shade for one day before the caterpillar came and ate it gone. Then came the heat of the east wind. Jonah’s values were backwards. He cared more for the plant life than he did for the higher forms of life of animals and human beings. He was being fleshly and not of soul or spirit. Thankfully God is nothing like that and cares about all of our life and salvation. So in the final analysis, like Jonah it doesn’t necessarily follow that the church of God can build it’s own little shelter to watch the walls of our own little Nineveh tumble down.

Elijah also had extreme despondency but his was in zeal for the glory of God, Isaiah 33:16 while Jonah mourned the loss of his own glory. Philippians 2:21

God provided both the whale and the worm just as He provides for both the huge and little things in our lives. Our own shelters, built with human hands, do nothing against God's other provisions of wind and scorching sun. Raining fire upon Nineveh isn't always a part of His plan no matter how much we think it should be. Jonah 1:12, Jonah 4:3, Jonah 4:8 Jonah lost the vine for protection but he still had God. And from that picture we can see God and humankind reasoning together to come to the fuller understanding. Ephesians 4:13-14

Once again, in the final analysis, conformity to His Divine Will, by continuing or ceasing from a work, as the Lord’s servant, is compared to the vanity of doing things in vain without His blessing. We can’t all make the sun stand still. Instead we look to the Captain of Salvation and realize (the reality of) where our post did began and on what He says it ends. according to ur posts as ambassadors of Christ with a ministry of reconciliation to show forth His manifold wisdom to the principalities. Ephesians 3:10-11 not to mention the great cloud of witnesses. New occasions teach new duties.

Matthew 26:38
Then said Jesus to His disciples, my soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to the point of death: abide here and watch with Me

To save lives or destroy lives. God’s response is seen in the former and satan’s response in the other.

Christ the way
Ephesians 3:8-12
… the unsearchable riches of Christ;
And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,
According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:
In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.

"I am the Way" says Christ. From Genesis to Revelations there has been only one Way and that Way was and still is, Christ our hope of glory.

Before the incarnation God used patterns of Christ to prefigure the Way. The tabernacle in the wilderness was the most striking pattern of all, which was God's habitat, as are believers today. In the tabernacle we see the Symbolic Presence of any and all things to do with Christ. Jesus tabernacled among us in Physical Presence and now, in Spiritual Presence, Christ continues to abide within as God builds His habitation amongst His own, being fit by the companionship itself.
Symbolically Christ was in the planning of the tabernacle of the desert, physically He was present on earth and spiritually He is with us now. Immersing ourselves in His word is more fulfilling than a sprinkling of interest in who He is. As we immerse ourselves in His Word we become more and more identified with His death, thereby receiving the power of resurrected life that seals us into the ark of His salvation. Many are called but few there are who are willing to enter in.

Having progressed from the sacrificial altar, into the Holy Place and onward thru the veil into the Holy of Holies, … from the dead and lost to the enjoyment of new life, in the Presence of God, the new Way is the new temple; Christ within. Therefore the race is run within.

Pick up the pace and change your walk into a run. Running with eyes on the goal, we shouldn't be distracted. Our walk with Him around the physical temple has given us the time to look at our religious background, to see the strength of the buildings and the beauty of the physical building. But now is the time to focus on Christ, allowing Him to work into our being to make Christ our standard. His banner over us is Love.

Old things are passing away and behold the new! No more shrinking back and letting the enemy distract us from God's Way. Flee to the Holy of Holies where Jesus Christ has opened the new Way for us and has Himself entered within. Seat yourself down with Him in His Present Presence.

Hebrews 12:1-3
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Jesus Christ, who ministers to us heaven, life and strength, will transfuse and infuse us with all that He is to enable us to run the heavenly race and to live the heavenly life on earth. He is trustworthy to carry us thru life's pathway, leading and bringing us onward to glory. Transformation infused is bringing us beyond the wood overlaid with gold and becoming petrified wood of living stones as our old natural elements are daily washed in His blood at the throne of grace and living waters bubble from within, being immersed in His Word, basking in the realization of the transformation from glory to glory.

Wonderful Jesus, enthroned in heaven, crowned with "glory and honour", is the greatest attraction in the universe. Jesus of Nazareth, like an immense magnet, draws seekers unto Him. Attracted by His charming beauty, we find ourselves looking away from all things other than Him. With such a charming object to gaze upon, how could anyone be distracted by things on this earth to be subject unto them?

Instead His attractiveness is what catches the attention, not the facades that are but shadow of His reality. His attributes are absolutely fascinating! He is our new spiritual law of life to be meditated on day and night.

Who is this singer? Never heard of her. Check this one out. Closer to the original and incredible guitar work.
I love Phil Keagy's guitar abilities and the ministry surrounding it. That song had come to mind and I liked her rendition, never having heard it before. Here's Keith Green's original

Great verses.

Actually when I saw the title, I thought it referred to something like Proverbs 4.3: "Thy lips are like a thread of scarlet, and thy speech is comely".
Actually the first bible reference of scarlet thread was to the illegitimate child of Judah who doesn’t have an ancestral line.
Genesis 38:28-30
28 And it came to pass, when she travailed, that the one put out his hand: and the midwife took and bound upon his hand a scarlet thread, saying, This came out first.
29 And it came to pass, as he drew back his hand, that, behold, his brother came out: and she said, How hast thou broken forth? this breach be upon thee: therefore his name was called Pharez.
30 And afterward came out his brother, that had the scarlet thread upon his hand: and his name was called Zarah.

What does Zarah mean? Zarah as a girls' name has its roots in Hebrew and Arabic, and the name Zarah means "princess; radiance". Zarah is a version of Sarah (Hebrew). Biblical: originally called Sarai. Zarah is also a variant of Zara (Arabic): see also Zahara.

Because it also means Sarah, I identified it with Galatians 4 where the mother of the promise is not only categorized as being of grace and not the law, but also in relation to our Mother that is called the New Jerusalem.

But I thought that those of the law would take offence to a thread called ‘Grace’s scarlet thread’ reading into it so much more than implied. So change it I did to ’Thoughts on Grace’ and now, you know mine. :)

Oh I didn't find the previous title offensive! :)

Either way it's a great Biblical theme.

God has given us the definition of Himself when He made humankind in His image ~ male and female made He them. To them was given dominion over nature. For us to tend the garden of our hearts, not to allow the intruder in. Since Christ, the dominion has expanded over satan, the enemy of our hearts. He has given those to whom belong a new heart. We would do well to know the heart of God because therein the image is complete.

In His compassion (rah mim ) connotes simultaneously both a mode of being and the locus of that mode. In it's singular form the noun (rehem) means 'womb' or 'uterus'. In the plural, )rah mim) this concrete meaning expands to the abstraction of compassion, mercy and love. Further these abstractions occur in a verb (rhm) 'to show mercy' and in an adjective (rah hum)'merciful' ... a semantic movement from a physical organ of the female to a spiritual mode of being.

Simultaneously that can be compared to bowels of compassion. Where the rah mim is the mode of operenda the rehem is the organ to accomplish the process. As are the eyes to sight, ears to hearing, the regenerated nous to the dianoia of understanding.

Ephesians 4:17-24
This I say therefore, and testify in [the] Lord, that ye should no longer walk as [the rest of] the nations walk in [the] vanity of their mind, (nous)
being darkened in understanding (dianoia), estranged from the life of God by reason of the ignorance which is in them, by reason of the hardness of their hearts,
who having cast off all feeling, have given themselves up to lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greedy unsatisfied lust.
But *ye* have not thus learnt the Christ,
if ye have heard him and been instructed in him according as [the] truth is in Jesus;
[namely] your having put off according to the former conversation the old man which corrupts itself according to the deceitful lusts;
and being renewed in the spirit of your mind;(nous)
and [your] having put on the new man, which according to God is created in truthful righteousness and holiness.

We are to keep an unveiled spirit to live in communion with God. Where there is a closed nous, there is a closed spirit that God cannot shine light into. Understanding is called dianoia ... having the same root as nous but while nous is a organ the dianoia is the function of the nous.

The Hebrew word for breath in Genesis 2:7 is neshamah, which translated is “human spirit” in Proverbs 20:17. Intuition, heavenly communion and conscience are the mode of operanda of that spirit while the bible clearly tells us that the breath of God has become our human spirit as His lamp to contain God as the oil and light. Zechariah 12:1; Job 32:8; Romans 8:16; 2 Timothy 4:22

The heart of each individuals nous, that part that has body and mind (soul-life) in submission to the human spirit that is in turn connected in submission to the Holy Spirit .... is that which is connected to God in the uniqueness of our walk. Impossible when the soul is not under submission to the spirit. Our human spirit needs to be submissive to the Holy Spirit. It's that part of the human anatomy that suffered death at the fall and that which is renewed at regeneration.

1 Corinthians 14:19
Nevertheless, in church I would rather speak five words with my mind (nous) in order to instruct others, than ten thousand words in a tongue.

An inspired message or revelation from God in the 5 words are good from intuition of the nous while a prepared message is from the intellect and not necessarily inspired.
The intellect and intuition are separate functions. Intellect is of the soulish (soul-life) intellect and intuition is a function of the human spirit.
Ftrom what area of nous one is one working from? Sometimes it could be from direct revelation, other times it could be from those things that have been pondered upon in the heart and other times it could be from a darkened mind. In reflecting upon these things there is no problem in discerning one's actions. The bible's example is to the revelation, followed by the pondering in the heart, giving forth to rightly dividing the Word of God, and speaking forth with knowledge.

According to Aristotle:

Two intellectual virtues which are sometimes translated as "wisdom": sophia and phronesis.

Sophia (sometimes translated as "theoretical wisdom") is a combination of nous, the ability to discern reality, and episteme, a type of knowledge which is logically built up, and teachable, and which is sometimes equated with science. Sophia, in other words, involves reasoning concerning universal truths.

Phronesis also combines a capability of rational thinking, with a type of knowledge. On the one hand it requires the capability to rationally consider actions which can deliver desired effects. Phronesis is not simply a skill (techne), however, as it involves not only the ability to decide how to achieve a certain end, but also the ability to reflect upon and determine good ends consistent with the aim of living well overall. Aristotle points out that although sophia is higher and more serious than phronesis, the highest pursuit of wisdom and happiness requires both, because phronesis facilitates sophia.

Something I've yet to put together about the nous related to phronesis vs sophia wisdom but am sharing a link to a study from 2010 that I'm sure some Christian scientists would be more capable at deeper comprehension than I. FFT

Hosea 2:14-16
Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her.
And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.
And it shall be at that day, saith the Lord, that thou shalt call me Ishi; and shalt call me no more Baali.
For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name.
And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field and with the fowls of heaven, and with the creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the earth, and will make them to lie down safely.
And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.
I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the Lord.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hosea 2:14-20
2:14 However, in the future I will allure her;56
56tn The participle (méfatteha, Piel participle masculine singular + 3rd feminine singular suffix from patah, "to allure") following the deictic particle (hinneh, "Now!") describes an event that will occur in the immediate or near future.
I will lead57
57tn Following the future-time referent participle (méfatteha) there is a string of perfects introduced by vav consecutive that refer to future events.
her back into the wilderness,
and speak tenderly to her.
2:15 From there I will give back her vineyards to her,
and turn the "Valley of Trouble"58
58tn Heb "Valley of Achor," so named because of the unfortunate incident recorded in Josh 7:1-26 (the name is explained in v. 26; the Hebrew term Achor means "disaster" or "trouble"). Cf. TEV, CEV "Trouble Valley."
into an "Opportunity59
59tn Heb "door" or "doorway"; cf. NLT "gateway." Unlike the days of Joshua, when Achan's sin jeopardized Israel's mission and cast a dark shadow over the nation, Israel's future return to the land will be marked by renewed hope.
for Hope."
There she will sing as she did when she was young,60
when61 she came up from the land of Egypt.
2:16 "At that time,"62
60tn Heb "as in the days of her youth" (so NAB, NIV, NRSV).
61tn Heb "as in the day when" (so KJV, NASB).
62tn Heb "And in that day"; NLT "In that coming day."
declares the Lord,
"you will call,63
63tc The MT reads (tiqrÿ'i, "you will call"; Qal imperfect 2nd person feminine singular). The versions (LXX, Syriac, Vulgate) all reflect an alternate Vorlage of (tiqra' li, "she will call me"; Qal imperfect 3rd person feminine singular followed by preposition lamed, + 1st person common singular pronominal suffix). This textual variant undoubtedly arose under the influence of (tiqrÿ'i li) which follows. Most English versions follow the reading of the MT (KJV, ASV, NASB, NIV, NRSV, NLT, CEV), but some follow the ancient versions and read the 3rd person ("she", so NAB, NCV, TEV).
"My husband";64
64tn There are wordplays on the terms ('ish) and (ba'al) here. The term ('ishi, "my man, husband") is a title of affection (Gen 2:23; 3:6, 16) as the counterpart to ('ishah, "woman, wife"). The term (ba'li, "my lord") emphasizes the husband's legal position (Exod 21:3; Deut 22:22; 24:4). The relationship will no longer be conditioned on the outward legal commitment but on a new inward bond of mutual affection and love.
you will never again call me,65
65tc The MT reads (tiqrÿ'i li, "you will call me"; Qal imperfect 2nd person feminine singular followed by preposition lamed, + 1st person common singular pronominal suffix). The versions (LXX, Syriac, Vulgate) all reflect an alternate Vorlage of (tiqrÿ' li, "she will call me"; Qal imperfect 3rd person feminine singular followed by preposition + 1st person common singular pronominal suffix). This textual variant is related to the preceding textual issue
"My master."66
66sn There is a wordplay on the terms(ba'li, "my master") and (habbé'alim, "the Baals") which are derived from the root (ba'al, "master; lord"). This wordplay is especially effective because the term can refer to one's husband and is also the name of the Canaanite storm god Baal. Referring to a spouse the term normally means "husband; master." It was a common, ordinary, nonpejorative term that was frequently used in an interchangeable manner with ('ish, "husband; man"). Due to its similarity in sound to the abhorrent Canaanite fertility god Baal, the repentant Israelites would be so spiritually sensitive that they would refrain from even uttering this neutral term for fear of recalling their former idolatry. The purpose of the exile is to end Israel's worship of Baal and to remove syncretism.
2:17 For67
67tn The vav consecutive prefixed to (vahasiroti) "I will remove" (vav consecutive + Hiphil perfect 1st person common singular) introduces an explanatory clause.
I will remove the names of the Baal idols68
68tn Heb "the Baals." The singular term (ba'al) refers to the Canaanite god Baal himself, while the plural form (habbé'alim) refers to the manifestations of the god (i.e., idols; BDB 127 s.v.1500; II.1).
from your lips,69
69tn Heb "from her mouth." In the translation this is rendered as second person for consistency.
so that you will never again utter their names!"70
70tn Heb "they will no longer be mentioned by their name."
New Covenant Relationship with Repentant Israel
2:18 "At that time71
71tn Heb "And in that day" (so KJV, ASV).
I will make a covenant for them with the wild animals,
the birds of the air, and the creatures that crawl on the ground.
I will abolish72
72tn Heb "I will break"; NAB "I will destroy"; NCV "I will smash"; NLT "I will remove."
the warrior's bow and sword
"that is, every weapon of warfare73"
73tn Heb "bow and sword and warfare." The first two terms in the triad (vÿqeshet vÿkherev umilkhamah, literally, "bow and sword and warfare") are examples of synecdoche of specific (bow and sword) for general (weapons of war, so CEV). However, they might be examples of metonymy (bow and sword) of association (warfare).
from the land,
and I will allow them to live securely."74
74tn Heb "and I will cause them to lie down in safety." The causative nuance ("will make them") is retained in several English versions (e.g., KJV, ASV, NASB, NRSV).
2:19 I will commit myself to you75
75tn Heb "I will betroth you to me" (so NIV) here and in the following lines. Cf. NRSV "I will take you for my wife forever."
forever;
I will commit myself to you in76
76tn The preposition (bet), which is repeated throughout 2:19-20 [21-22], denotes price paid (BDB 90 s.v. III.3; e.g., Ezek 3:14). The text contains an allusion to the payment of bridal gifts. The Lord will impute the moral character to Israel that will be necessary for a successful covenant relationship (contra 4:1).
righteousness and justice,
in steadfast love and tender compassion.
2:20 I will commit myself to you in faithfulness;
then77
77tn The vav consecutive on the suffix conjugation verb (véyada'?at, "then you will know") introduces a result clause (cf. NASB, CEV).
you will acknowledge78 the Lord."79
79tc The MT reads (yÿhvah, "the Lord"); however, many Hebrew mss read (ki 'ani, "that it is I"), as also reflected in the Latin Vulgate (cf. CEV "know who I am").
Obtaining to Jesus' standards. We can't. Be ye perfect as I am perfect. Unobtainable. Jesus expecting people to accept the previously unthinkable and unacceptable as tho they were family. Notta. It can't be done. Jesus tried but all He could get out of Peter was "Lord You know" while Peter stummered with fraternal love having left eros behind.
Agape love was Him, sitting teaching His diciples
Fraternal love was Peter sitting with the other disciples
While eros love was not part of the discussions between the family.
That was the narrative theology that's His standards.
Binding and Loosing
To bind means to condemn, and to loose means to forgive. Binding satan’s influence over self looses the freedom of forgiveness provided at the cross Matthew 6:10, Revelation 11:15, Matthew 4:17, Romans 16:20 and is the meaning of the power of dominion. ‘For greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.’
Matthew 18:18
Truly I say to you, Whatever you bind on the earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on the earth shall have been loosed in heaven.
John 20:23
Whosever sins you forgive, they are forgiven them; and whosever sins you retain, they are retained.
There is a gigantic misconception about that passage amongst certain circles today. Jesus was teaching his disciples according to Jewish custom and Law. "binding and loosing."
There was a principle laid down in the Law called "halakhah". Certain men were to be assigned to deal with local problems and situations that were not directly covered by the Torah. These heads of the community were sought to solve local problems, and to also set up standards for the people to follow which were to be based upon a strong knowledge of God's Word. What they "bound" became the regional law for the community. What they "loosened" was removed from the restrictions placed upon the community.
Up until that moment when Jesus delegating this authority to his disciples? It was being held by the Pharisees.
It had nothing to do with "binding and loosening Satan".. as some sects claim it to mean. It was the delegation of authority from Jesus to his disciples who were soon to become the heads over His Church. They were the ones (apostles) to set up the rules and protocols for the new church to follow.
