I have been suffering Depression for the longest time. I've been praying for God's help all my life. I realize I need more prayers. I know I haven't been right but I try to uphold his word as much as I can. If you are interested in reading about my life story, I will post the link below of the thread I created. I would like to put it on a blog but I need to do "posts" which I guess is replying to 20 threads and get 5 likes or something.

Blessings:
I am sad to hear of your depression being so lengthly. I have had my times with it, but God had mercy on me and has given the reasoning to see that the things of this world are nothing compared to what is in store for those who seek Him in spiritual truth.
Every read the story of the rich man and poor man? The point being that this is all temporary.
May God be merciful to you.

Victor I read your post of your life's experience, depression and abuse by family.

First I want to tell you how moved I was by your compassion and love for others you displayed after being abused and terrorized in your life. You may not see it but I learned about a kind and disciplined man in your story. I say this as a 50 yr old husband and father of two sons.

You have been through hell on earth yet here you stand. I don't know you but am proud of how you actually survived what you did. We can only call your survival God's Grace.

I am reminded of the faithful men of the Bible. They lived hard lives. Poor Joseph was so hated by his brothers most wanted to kill him but settled on selling him in slavery. You know the story.

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ our King wore a crown of thorns for us.

What you have endured and where you stand now I am amazed. My heart goes out to you as well as my prayers.

There is a chaplains section here where you can discuss with a ordained minister what you did in your other post one on one in private if you want. Here's the link and just click on the private area and strike up a conversation with a chaplain. Don't worry we will still be here.

Chaplains Office

God Bless you my brother. I will pray earnestly for you.

I want to add that Christ can take all our broken pieces and put us back together again. He also does not hold us responsible for what others have done harmfully to us.

Even though you hold a heavy burden I recommend praising God for His Son Jesus Christ for paying the ultimate price with His own life. Then raising Him up three days later thus sealing eternal life for all who trust in Him. I had a pastor friend tell me this when I was at my lowest point physically and mentally due to chemotherapy. I could not lift my head, could not eat and could only sip water for almost two weeks. Couldn't read the Bible or even coherently listen to it. My friend said "Just praise Him and think of Christ seated in Glory."

You are shouldering a heavy burden. Do you have a church where the pastoral team can assist?

God Bless and praying.
The church I go to is a very small traditional Pentecostal church. The pastor there knows of my families troubles but he can do only so much. I tried going to a different church called "HOPE" but my church and mother sees that as a rebellious act. If I leave, it will basically mean that I will be disowned.

Though I have this massive burden, I do see Christ in my life. I praise him for being there, for saving my life more than once in the heat of the moments. Even though that might contradict to me wanting to live, I still have this gift that I mean to share to it's fullest potential. And I'm sorry you had to go through chemo and that dreadful era in your life. I'm glad you had your friends and church to pray and look after you.

I am sorry to hear this. My church runs a road to recovery for just about every struggle to include PTSD as we are a military town. Maybe you could find such a Christian program at another church without actually leaving the one you are in now. Just a suggestion.

12+ Years of Severe Depression

Victor,

I read your story with tears in my eyes. You berate yourself but you can write and express yourself so well for one who is young. That is no small thing.

My heart aches for everything you have endured. I'm so sorry for it. Not only am I a mother of two about the same age as you, but I am a teacher of many years. I know that you are not to be blamed for anything you endured. It is not your fault.

You are young and you can reach for joy. You can rely on God and have a wholly different life than your parents'. Redleghunter has given you some wonderful advice.

Know that I will pray for you.

I see a number of posts today that have to do with depression so am cutting and pasting for you what I have passed on to them. God bless you.

I just wrote the following for someone else, but thought it would apply to you, as well. I will put it in quotes and then address you personally.
"Lord, I pray for this one that You will get a hold of them and revolutionize their thinking. I pray that You will lead them into Your Word to where You can speak to them about the requests on this post. I pray that they will invite You to fill them with Your Spirit (yield to Your control) of their thoughts. Philippians 4:6-8. I pray that they will take You as their Friend, Companion, and Confidant, and see loneliness disappear. I pray they might start praying out loud, and learn how to not be lonely, by enjoying Your presence and company. Some might think this is insane (The View's Behar), but we know that Your ways are higher than the thinking of the unsaved, natural man, that is on the way to eternal destruction.
May this one come to relate to Philippians 1:21; Philippians 4:11-13; andPhilippians 4:4. Might they replace the times of feeling lonely, etc. with times of reading, meditating, praying and memorizing in Philippians. May they see this come to revolutionize their life and thinking (Romans 12:2; Psalms 30:11). Amen."

You see, Jessica, it is the written Word of God that you need to be spending time in. Seek the Lord diligently while you are reading His Word. Talk to Him while you are reading His Word. Church attendance is great (Hebrews 10:25), but it is not enough, and even it can be so lacking in fulfilling one's need for the written Word and quiet time alone with God. All three of you need to be faced with God's written Word, either on the need of salvation and how to receive it (Romans 10:9-10; Romans 10:13; John 1:12), or on the need to spend time taking in spiritual food (Hebrews 5:12; 1 Peter 2:2; Matthew 4:4). Prayer outside of spending time in God's Word, will be mostly energized by one's self. Prayer that is in association with spending time in reading the Bible will be more energized by the Spirit of God (Ephesians 6:18). Don't try to operate in your own energy and power. Spend much time in the Word, and allow the Holy Spirit to energize and empower your prayers, and your life!!! Father, I pray that You will give Jessica a great desire to get into Your Word and meet You daily there. Psalms 42:1-2; Psalms 42:11; Psalms 43:5. Amen.

Yes that is right. I know of people that go to more than one church each week.

Yes! I highly recommend it. I also go to several different churches too; reach out and network and build your faith family!

I pray you can see and hear what god is telling your heart to do

I'm sorry that you're struggling with depression. I pray that the Lord will surround you with His loving presence and encourage you during this difficult time. May God help you to experience His never-failing love and care in your life. I hope you’ll be encouraged to read Psalm 34:18 - "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Depression is a very complex issue that deserves personal and in-depth attention. Are seeking help from a Christian therapist?

@Godhelpme1999 thought of you this morning when reading the book of James.

James 5: NKJV
13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. 17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. 18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.
