Actually, there were not exactly 31102 verses in any Bible until 1769, when the 5th Edition of the KJV was published.... the same text as earlier versions. Translated from Masoretic and Text-us Recept-us.

God has revealed himself to us through his written word, and through his Son who IS the Word and who came to show us what his Father is like.
We can read his word in Scripture and the Spirit interprets his word to us; we don't need to do long, complicated sums, or get a maths degree in order to read, learn and love the Bible. God spoke through men and women, prophets and his Son; he did not spend hours numbering verses, making chapter divisions and making sure they all added up and referred to certain sections of Scripture.
Chapters and verses were added later, by men, to make it easier to read, and learn, Scripture.

Nothing is too hard for God. The question is; why would he do this?
The author of Hebrews says that previously God spoke through prophets; in latter days he has spoken to us through his Son. THAT'S how God has communicated with people - through other people. And also by his Spirit who lives, or can live, in us. Then he inspired other people to write all these things down.
We have his written, God inspired, word, his Son and his Spirit living in us; God himself is in us.
Why would he then spend time saying to himself "the fourth word of this book corresponds to this number in pi, so let's put a verse division there."? Then after many centuries, when humans have discovered what pi is, they'll be able to read my word and be amazed at my mathematical ability?

What about people who lived before this "wonderful" discovery was made?
