More struts!

I strutted the heck out of it. The wobbling was still quite impressive right up until three of the boosters broke loose, collided with the main body and the whole thing kerploded. On the other hand, it went a fair distance.

Sideways. It went a fair distance sideways.

All that money spent sending a car into space! Think of all the medices and food that could have been bought with that money!

Sending the car into space wasn't the actual point. The goal was to design, build and successfully launch the Falcon Heavy.

Chucking a car into space was just a goofy way to add a simulated cargo.

Whoa! I just figured it out: Car! Go! Cargo!!

MIND=BLOWN.

I think equally impressive is the outstanding landing, a process that ten years ago people thought was impossible. This is one of my favorite shots from the day:

It's amazing how often and easily the naysayers will proclaim something impossible or impractical...

Imagine if Elon Musk headed NASA since the 80s, imagine where we could be now???

All that money spent sending a car into space! Think of all the medices and food that could have been bought with that money!

The technological advancement made today has a very real chance of saving the entire human race... or at the very least ushering in a new age for mankind that will have ramifications we can't comprehend.

This very well may go down as one of the top 100 iconic moments in all of mankind.

I consider space flight with the analogy of teaching a man to fish; it's a long-term investment in humans that will benefit us all.

Lowering costs for orbital launches is a waste of money? That's what the Falcon Heavy is for; reducing per-kg costs for launching satellites as well as giving expanded capability for interplanetary launches without the need for more expensive custom-designed launch platforms.

All space travel is a waste of money. Millions starving in the world, millions dying of cancer etc. Priorities are all wrong for mankind.

Suffice it to say you're wrong. Space travel and it's related science has benefited the entire world. And it's done it for a minute fraction of the cost of the military budget of most first world countries. You want to argue against wasteful spending, look at defense budgets.

I don’t think that Reagan would have handed NASA over to a teenager…:D

Incredible to watch, definitely a highlight for those of us that were not around in the Saturn 5 era. Watching the boosters land was the best part of the launch, IMO.

The GPS on your phone comes from Satellites in Space.
The "instant" communication to anyone in the world via your computer or phone comes from Satellites in Space.
Many of the materials used in your high tech gadgetry are owed from Space Related R&D efforts
Many materials used in your mundane life (like Teflon and ceramics used in pottery/cooking) are owed from Space Related R&D efforts
The ability to predict weather (an ability that saves millions of lives worldwide per year) comes from Satellites in Space

I could go on listing the bazillion ways you are wrong but hopefully the above will suffice and you have learned and we will never hear you make your erroneous and ignorant argument again.

Your life is impacted a hundred different ways every day based on "space-related" technology.

It amazes me how people so easily complain about all the money spent on space travel when that money is a fraction of a fraction that is spent on the military.

Then there are the obvious benefits that they are too blind to mention.

Back in 1500s I wonder how people were like, "going to the New World is a waste of money, think of all the people you could feed if you used that travelling money for food..."

Space contains infinite resources. Think of it as the ultimate land grab for an entire species

A great achievement.
Love how he sent his car up there - brilliant!
Just picture a group of aliens trying to figure out why a land vehicle with no space faring capability is flying through space with a "Starman" driving it...

I wish you could see video of the car going through space... wait a minute... **google fu**

wow, looks like you can :D
