Amazing. I've waited for this for over two years and it delivered! Elon Musk is the man!

What a time to be alive. I just wish I'd be able to watch its maiden flight in the flesh. It's on my list, though, and I will at some point this or next year.

Massively cool. Something about a launch just tickled my inner astro-child.

On a side note, I tried a 20+ engine rocket in Kerbal Space Program once. It...didn't turn out well. :p

More struts!

Still live on Youtube. Launch was about 7 minutes ago.
EDIT: Actually, they're just rerunning what happened previously.

This was entirely too amazing, my entire dev team tuned into the launch. I think equally impressive is the outstanding landing, a process that ten years ago people thought was impossible. This is one of my favorite shots from the day:

I heard that the core, which was supposed to land like the 2 boosters, failed and ended up in the ocean. But it's still extraordinary that they can land any stages at all the way they are doing so regularly now. I'm surprised they don't use parachutes for their descent so they wouldn't need to carry as much fuel for the descent and landing.

I live maybe 20-25 miles from the Cape in Orlando. I have to say it is amazing to see these beauties in the sky again. I honestly miss watching the shuttles. I can hear, and watch them from my driveway. It is absolutely astounding to watch them live. And with 20x80 binoculars you can see everything.

Those are great for Astronomy too! I had a pair of 11x80s a very long time ago.

Before 9/11 I used to park on a service road by OIA, directly under two flight paths with my kids and watch planes come in. They used to love it. We also like air shows. It's kinda our thing.

I totally understand. It used to be my thing too. I even wanted to become a pilot, but that never panned out. Watching them is the next best thing. Got a Blue Angels airshow coming up this Summer in my town.

I gotta tell you though, Im kind of nerding out watching rockets land. I was awestruck like a child all over again. That, is amazing. I am all for going to mars, exploration, and even going back to the moon. I would go myself if I could.

You're certainly in a good place for that. If I could watch rockets take off (and now land) from my driveway, I would.

Thanks for posting this. I just watched with my grandkids that hadn't seen it yet. They asked all kinds of questions, some I couldn't answer. o_O
