NAMES OF JESUS
THE TITLES OF THE LORD
Little attention seems to be given to the titles used in the Bible scriptures for the names pertaining to Jesus, yet these are as important and are the other things in the scriptures.
First to be considered is the name Jesus.
Luke_1:31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and ` shalt call his name JESUS.
The meaning is: Yahshua .This carriers with it the meaning of the Savior. There are some questions that need to be answered here before moving on to His other titles. First, who was He sent to? He was sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. He was not sent to the entire world as in commonly taught. Jesus had been promised way back in the Old Testament, and after the dispersion of Israel, the northern kingdom, He came into the land of Judeah, to His chosen people; not to the entire world as generally taught. This is a very important thing to understand. How many times today in the man's churches is it hear: Come up here and be saved in Jesus name? Far to many times! This last statement would require a writing in itself and will not be entered into here.
Then is given in Math 1:1 the seed line from which Jesus came through; that is, the physical seed line. This is a deep story in itself.
Mat_1:17 -18 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations. Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.
Notice that Jesus birth came by the way of the Holy Spirit and not Joseph's seed. He was then a spiritual Being coming in the flesh to do His Father's pleasure.
Mat_11:27 All things are delivered unto me of My Father: and no man knows the Son, but the Father; neither knows any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal Him.
It should be clear now that Jesus came through the power of the Holy Spirit to do His Father's will. Hence, the Lord Jesus. He is the Lord of the Jews to whom He was sent by His Father. This is why Jesus made this statement that follows; and tell us that He came only to the Jews and not th entire world.
John_10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
The other sheep were the Gentiles whom Jesus sent the apostle Paul to so that they too, could b brought into the one fold. This in itself should tell the careful reader that Jesus was sent only to the Jews and that His teachings were only the Jews.
Yet man persist on taking what was written to the Jews only and applying it to their Denominational teachings. Woe be unto them; for they shall be judged for that which they teach.
Having said this I also say, there is much to be learned from Jesus teachings. However, leave to Israel what is given to Israel, and take what was given to the apostle Paul for the Gentiles to learn by and live by. Two is the number of division in the Bible scriptures; what divides men today spiritually? Denominations.
Rom_12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Php_2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Php_4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
