As a person who used to work directly in IT support and still have to deal with issues by people using various computer stuff, any time someone is adamant that they know what they are doing and there is no way they messed up, I assume, until shown otherwise, that they don't know what they are doing and they messed something up. I find I'm right 99 times out of 100. A large portion of my work is because users messed something up so now I gotta build in safe guards to prevent it from happening again.

LOL, no my friend I would not. I have thicker skin than that. But you sticking up for grandmas everywhere and taking offense on their behalf is precious.
It's not just precious, it's Christian. I have Christian values and respecting and caring for the elderly is part of that. I suppose you don't share my values. I took care of my two elderly parents as both of them were ill in their old age until they passed away and I know and understand the problems and discrimination that the elderly face. And, with all that in my life, I'm able to make ends meet and then some in "the north" with all the liberals and democrats, not to mention the inbred hillbillies in in Oklahoma taking my money out of my pocket! Imagine that!

So if a person derives a benefit from something wrong that the person didn't personally take part in...

That person should take responsibility for it, and be humble.
Politicians are good at the "plausible deniability" game.

What we know for sure is that Sheila Jackson Lee got a First-Class seat at the last moment on a flight which had no First-class seats available.

We also know that the customer who was bumped denies cancelling her First-Class seat and that it happened on the second segment of her flight ... not the first segment. I've never known anyone to voluntarily cancel a First-Class seat after booking unless they received compensation or a greatly reduced fare. The argument made by the airline is ludicrous.

It's not ludicrous to suggest an application user cancelled her 2nd flight segment by mistake while checking on the flight status.

I second that....20 plus years working in IT....

Is that your new argument?

Would you accept that argument if this situation had involved a Republican Congressman?

It's not a new argument--post #38
....or perhaps a 63 year old woman cancelled her flight by mistake using the United mobile app....

"After thoroughly examining our electronic records, we found that upon receiving a notification that Flight 788 was delayed due to weather, the customer appears to have canceled her flight from Houston to Washington, D.C. within the United mobile app," United said in a statement.

And yes, in my experience user error has not affiliation with party.

Yet, the woman was on that very flight ... which she supposedly cancelled ... and which she denies cancelling.

Yes, and I am siding with the United IT app support -- application logs are a better record than a user's memory.

I guess making an ideological point out weighs taking personal responsibility for one's actions.

Exactly, the congresswoman should take responsibility for her actions

Why do you feel this is the likely scenario?

Because it is her MO. And her colleagues talk about her tactics. The congresswoman is a bully.

not to mention the inbred hillbillies in in Oklahoma taking my money out of my pocket! Imagine that!

Would that be bigotry? You have said it six times now. Seems to be central theme.

nah..... did I mention our state tax is about half of New Jersey and we get the same services. Gotta go jump in my heated pool.

Which we know to be what?

Because it is her MO. And her colleagues talk about her tactics. The congresswoman is a bully.

Which colleagues?

There are people, especially those who fly a lot, who arrive at an airport and ask for upgrades if they're available. My uncle does this all the time.

Imagine this woman cancels her flight in a moment of frustration, and the congresswoman, who asks for an upgrade gets it.

But you still haven't answered: how did the congresswoman bully the airline in your version of the story?

We also know that United Airlines is the only party that can bump people or upgrade people or see what's in the system as to who canceled a flight or who showed up on time or not. No politician or any other person other than an employee of United Airlines has the power to assign seats or bump people in United Airlines' system (other than customers who can do what the system lets them do for their own seats only, such as cancel them).

All of her bullying.
That's so like a bully too, to not take responsibility for all their bullying. These Democrats are getting out of control and someone should do something about it.

You foolishly underestimate the awesome power of a Democrat congresswoman.

Yet she seems to have still managed to bully her way into a First-Class seat.

So the voters didn't do much of anything to stop that.
