Hi there, I haven't been around in a long time- several years probably. I just wanted to stop in and say hi for those who may remember. I checked the blessings exchange but there wasn't anything new there.

The forum has changed owners and the current owner doesn't really seem to care about blessings about the only thing you can buy is a month of site supporter unless you have half a million of them and then you can get a year or so of it essentially blessings are worthless and you can't track how many posts people make in threads either the forum is for the most part making money off arguing and debating in politics and religion. I used to venture into the debate type areas but decided that it just wasn't worth the effort any more. I'm still going to hang out here till either things get better or worse

I haven't watched any Christmas movies this year. I should. Amazon recommended me a movie called By God's Grace. It looks good but it only got a rating of 6.4/10 on IMDb. Maybe I'll watch it anyway.

I've found IMDB ratings aren't what you would normally expect them to be like grading papers. You have to think that 5-6 is just above neutral (not good or bad =5.0) I find 6.0 is good but nowhere near great and 7.0 is very good with 8.0 being great. I have a lot of movies rated around 6.0 on IMDB and most of them are watchable some even enjoyable but most of them aren't unforgettable in that you don't end up wanting to watch them again any time soon. A movie has to get into the 7+ range before you consider wanting to watch it again in the short future and in the 8+ range you may want to watch it again in the very near future.
I rate my movies when I watch them myself and have very few titles that are in the 9+ range only movies and tv series that I literally devour once I start watching them I have a hard time not wanting to do anything else but continue to watch them until I'm done with all the series (or movie).

So in other words a 6.4 for a Christian movie means that it probably is pretty good, and possibly even better than that rating if the movie is newer and doesn't have a lot of ratings sometimes over time the rating will go up/down considerably as more and more people watch it in a different type of setting like the first showing may be in the movie theater and may be a limited showing because Christian movies often don't show on very many screens. The next group of ratings may be on tv or dvd releases and people buying the movie either taking a chance by title and reading the reviews and the box or perhaps even later seeing the movie on tv or renting it either through local retailer or online.
I've had movies change almost a whole point over the period of 5 years or so in the past I think partially because IMDB has had to change the way they calculate rating plus they had a lot of paid ratings that weren't people being honest but profiting from either rating a movie way above average or in some cases derating a movie to try and defame the author/company making the movie, perhaps even taking a stand for or against a certain "social" topic that is covered in the movie. When a movie hits IMDB and first hits the theater in the past there have been movies like Avatar that were rated close to 9.0 and it has been dropping since then now is 7.8. I've rated it about an 8.0 but then I tend to rate animated movies higher than the average person even if the movie plot and voice acting is less than the rating on average.

6.4 to me means it is semi decent. I rated Passion of the Christ 6.3 as I had to overlook a lot of "junk" theology in the movie and irritating inaccuracies plus no English dialogue. Since I got the special edition with a descriptive audio track I can at least get a decent idea what is being "said" but not directly via a dubbing of the voices. I have a lot of movies in the 6.0-6.5 range but very few of them are ones that I look forward to watching based solely on the whole content of the movie but rather only part of the movie itself. I rated Jingle all the way a 6.5 while IMDB rated it a 5.5 but then I grew up watching Arnold and enjoy his irritating accent and campy acting and goofy plot lines in other words the child in me enjoys his movies many adults that watch them don't appreciate the style of his movies and thus they get rated more neutral (5.0) instead of more positive 6.0++.

ive got a Christmas story, National lampoons christmas vacation, the Grinch, elf, the polar express. we try to watch one christmas movie each night if im not too tired from work
I've got a lot of Christmas movies but I watch movies just about in the order that I originally bought them as I have quite a few movies such that picking and choosing a particular movie or movies is a little difficult due to very cramped storage arrangements and having to spend considerable time moving boxes around to get to a particular box and movie.

I haven't had time to watch many Christmas movies. So far, I have watched Frosty the Snowman and a Muppet's Christmas Carol, and there's also a Hallmark Christmas movie called an Ice Sculpture Christmas that I've watched.

Did you know there's a movie about Bart Millard (I Can Only Imagine) coming out in March that I'm looking forward to:
