I keep seeing the fires in California in the news and can't shake the feeling that it is Gods judgement for their liberal left attack on Christian values. From the UK what I have seen makes it look like California and Florida were the leading areas for the anti-Christian views, liberal left agenda and promotion of unrighteous lifestyles and attacking Christians.

Both of these states have suffered natural disasters with the fires in California and hurricanes in Florida. A

Of course not. Florida & Texas got hit hard by hurricanes and they voted for Trump. That wasn't God's punishment. California's wildfires aren't either. I don't know if this is a question asked with any sincerity at all but it comes across as being hateful.

No, California fires are a natural phenomena related to being started by careless people or from the lack of controlled burns that help make natural areas less susceptible to rapid spread of fire. Houston was hit by a hurricane too with severe flooding too and it is a conservative city in the Bible belt.

Amazing how when catastrophe hits a blue state it’s ‘God’s judgement’ but when it’s a red state it’s a ‘natural disaster’.

Hard to tell but, it seems not because,

If judgement was coming to certain States it seems that most all would be judged due to their stance on abortion.

I do not speak for God often but, I believe he hates the killing of babies.

Moses killed a man and buried him in the sand. So Lifestyle doesn't seem to be a central issue. Except for God asking you to honor your neighbors and build them up.

Luke 6:32
"If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.

There was a liberal person who made national news by tweeting that Houston's flood was because they supported Trump and "they deserved it". Ironically, that person lived in Florida and got the same treatment a few weeks later. Natural disasters are simply natural disasters. They are normal weather events of nature. God's wrath will be much bigger and I doubt that we will have to wonder if it is God's wrath.

Are we seeing Gods judgement?

I feel, Scripturally, the answer is "no". (1) In Scripture, God usually tells people what He is going to do before He does it, so that they know--without a doubt--that He did it. (2) Jesus said The Father "makes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends the rain on the just and on the unjust."(Matt 5:45) (3) In Job, what we call "bad" happened to Job, temporarily. satan was allowed to do that by God and the result was Job came to know God on a whole different level (Job 42:5) and his friends--who said it was God's judgment--were told to go to Job because they hadn't spoken what was right and Job had. They were told Job would pray for them and God would accept Job, but the friends had God's wrath kindled against them (Job 42:7-9). And, God says: "The LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for His friends...." (Job 42:10) God, Himself, doesn't say "Job stirred me to judgment", rather God--after again challenging satan to consider "My servant Job..." says to satan: "you moved me against him, to destroy him without cause." (Job 2:3)

What if everything we go through that we classify as "bad" is actually allowed by a truly Sovereign God, because His perspective and judgments and higher purposes are very different from man's parochial perspectives, judgments, and myopic purposes--like He says in Isa 55:8-11.

Unless we are willing to put our own judgment on the line, I think it is very dangerous to assume that when something happens that it is God's judgment on that area. Maybe God wants us to be more concerned about how we respond towards the victims of the "natural disaster" than why it happened. Pronouncing judgment doesn't cost us anything. Showing mercy usually does. "Mercy triumphs over judgment" (James 2:13) And, interestingly in light of "the captivity" of Job: "I was hungry and you gave Me food, I was thirsty and you gave Me drink, I was a stranger and you took Me in; naked and you clothed Me, I was in prison and you came to Me." (Matt 25:35-36)

See a hilarious cartoon in the Onion at this link, about 2/3 of the way down the page, entitled :
Dazed Mike Pence Wakes Up 15 Miles Outside D.C. After Asking God To Deliver Him From Evil

And this heading from the UK Catholic Herald, reads like a heading from an Onion article - though, alas, it is surely true:

'British Government refuses to say whether proclaiming divinity of Christ is a hate crime'

As regards California, is it not the home of the all-powerful, multibillion dollar, US sex industry, America's worst plague? And to some extent the West's, generally? I read something about satanists there too, though it apparently features elsewhere in the US, even in local governments, these days.

Instead of tossing around blame, why not pray for them?
I said it was just a feeling so did a post to ee if anyone closer and with better knowledge thought it was. I was not "tossing around blame". You have also assumed that I am not praying for them. Your post is just as bad or worse than mine for being judgemental and deciding you know what my intention was and you also assume I have not prayed for them. From the way these few words come across you have assumed wrong on both counts.

'Pronouncing judgment doesn't cost us anything.'

What a strange misrepresentation. We are not in a position to pronounce judgment. However, there are sound enough reasons to conjecture that these might well be the last times. But there will be no Rapture, whereby Christians will escape the fate of others, many of good will, whom God cherishes as dearly as He does us.

However, many compelling NDE'rs have confirmed very emphatically that it is only our body that dies - and even then they seemed to be the last to be aware that, according to current, provisional, medical tenets, they are dead.

True, some were taken to view the highest realm of purgatory. Hell, but most were then also taken to see Paradise, which we, Catholics, take to be the highest realm of Purgatory, if I am not mistaken, a place of great joy, where our final cleansing takes place : where the Good Thief went staright away.

However, even immediately after leaving their seemingly dead bodies, ND'rs felt a wonderful sense of peace and love, and had no desire to return to life here below, indeed, many could not help feeling a great deal of bitterness, which they didn't feel they could explain to their relatives at the time. In fact, their plain account of their NDE was often unwelcome and disbelieved by some of their friends, if not their family. And they clammed up about it for years, if not decades, afterwards.

You need to get used to the idea of death and judgment.

(1) Can you please define what ND and NDE means????
(2) I do believe judgment costs us. What I meant in my "misrepresentation" is that it seems easy for some to pronounce--without hearing from God--that someone on the receiving end of a disaster is being judged. In the natural, it doesn't cost us anything to speculate that or to declare that. That is the only thing I meant.
(3) I am not catholic. I am Christian. I do not believe Scripture teaches purgatory.

So, you don't believe the words of scripture ? Well, God did give us free will. 'Purgatory' is only a convenient, kind of self-explanatory name, for a condition in which we shall be 'cleansed, as if by fire'.

You wouldn't believe in NDEs and NDE'rs. NDE is the abbreviation for 'near-death experience', when, according to current, medical opinion, all the signs of life have ceased, and according to the Experiencer, the NDE'r, they had a simple out-of-body experience, whereby they watched the operation on them from the ceiling and listened to the conversations between the medical staff, before eventually being revived; or they were mystically conveyed in a kind of mystical body to heavenly, or rather, paradisial realms, and conversed with angels and a being of light, whom most took to be Jesus. Sometimes they met relatives, even still-born siblings they knew nothing about. But eventually, they returned to their body; almost always very reluctantly.

One thing that is becoming clear, you are quick to assume and jump to conclusions. It makes it difficult to have a conversation with you.

Are we seeing Gods judgment?
I lived in California for 40 years. When I was young, I didn't realize the damage that liberalism does. At the time, I was a liberal, not knowing what that meant either. But I became a Christian about 28 years ago and started to see things differently. As you know, your world view changes. The beaches and climate is great but with 15 million is LA/Orange counties, the smog, traffic, and high cost of living, I had enough. Jerry Brown is ruining the state with his liberal policies.
I believe we are living in the End Times and currently we seeing the beginning of birth pangs. The recent hurricanes in Texas and Florida and up the East coast and fires as well in northern and southern California are just part of it. The Middle East has been on fire and turned upside down since the revolts happened starting seven years ago in Tunisia, then Yemen, Libya, Egypt, Syria, etc. Then ISIS formed. Many Christians in Islamic countries would think they are in the Great Tribulation with millions of refugees fleeing for their lives, heads chopped off, pillaging and plundering their lands by Islamic terrorist movements. Europe has seen an unprecedented infiltration or Islamic refugees who are wrecking havoc, not to mention costing hundreds of billions to support.
The world has seen an evil darkness cover what was once a bright and hopeful horizon.
Back to California, the big earthquake is next, it's overdue. They usually have a big one every 20 years. So this fire that has destroyed hundreds of homes will seen like a pin prick when 100,000 homes are destroyed.
Yes, judgment is just warming up! I'm really sorry to paint such a dreary picture. I would love to live out my years in Texas. I just retired, bought a new home and a dog life is good. My daughter just got married and also moved to Texas. What more do I want, life is better in every way over here. But I'm realistic about reality and the future.
I see all this leading up to the GT as good, because what follows is the Christ will take sin and evil and lock it up for 1,000 years and then we can live in a world with real peace and love like never before. AMEN.
