Yes, I was tired last night and overlooked the "believe" part. The fact is, there are a lot more than two commandments for believers to follow as well (about 1050). Christians are quick to discard the 613 OT commands so they can keep the 1050 NT commands and then they call those who endeavor to keep all commands that are applicable to them "legalists" and "fallen from grace".
If anyone says that you must keep those 613 or 1050 commands in order for YHWH to be pleased with you or to grant you favor or mercy or salvation or ..... then that would that person a legalist.
Because there is nothing we can do to merit His favor except to fall on His mercy and trust Him.

Let us remember this forum's (Messianic Judaism) SOP as this conversation is treading close to violating it:

  • No anti-Torah theology. i.e. No posts accusing or debating that Messianic Jews or Gentiles are under the law, re-erecting the wall of partition, Torah has been made invalid for today, or Messianic Jews or Gentiles should not keep the commandments in Torah that apply to them.

As per the rules I am bowing out of this thread as my beliefs are inconsistent with the intent of this subforum.
I don't see how I can continue without asserting my beliefs about Torah which from my understanding are not allowed here. Shalom

re-erecting the wall of partition,

Do you have any idea what this means? I don't.

I enjoyed our discussion. I pray that you gained at at least something from it.

Because there is nothing we can do to merit His favor except to fall on His mercy and trust Him.
While we don't obey His commandments to obtain His favor or salvation or to please Him, He is well pleased with our obedience and is displeased and grieved by our disobedience. Therefore, we need to make sure we know what commandments He desires us to obey.

So what do you think of a person that desires to obey all the commandments out of love for his Heavenly Father?

I just listened to the introduction to this series twice. I have it downloaded to my hard drive. I'm going to download the whole series, to share with my family again and again. This is going to be a GREAT study!

Thank you!

You're welcome! We also have a lot of other excellent studies posted, such as the ones on Matthew, Romans, Galatians, the Temple, and on Finding Messiah in the Torah, as well as others, plus some articles, so I invite you to also check them out when you've got time. :)

From my understanding the only one of those feasts not fulfilled is the Feast of Trumpets.
Day of Atonement - Jesus fulfilled this when He became our sacrifice.

Feast of Tabernacles - The Holy Spirit fulfilled this when He came to indwell us.
Revelation 21:3

Can we keep these feast as prescribed by YHWH? That would be a lot of lambs.
Lambs,, aka a lot of Yeshua.

I believe that God ended the festivals for good reasons. How would 16 billion people celebrate the Jewish festivals IN JERUSALEM?
And your problem is? We already know that the City of God is larger than the current Jerusalem.

Jerusalem in haven is not the one here on Earth.
Revelation 21:22 I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24 The nations will walk by its light,...

See the problem?

Jewish Festivals being celebrated on earth during the reign of Christ, is a late entry into the bible by the Masorite Hebrews.

Jeremiah 7
21 This is what the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: “Add your burnt offerings to your other sacrifices, and eat the meat yourselves, 22 for when I brought your ancestors out of the land of Egypt, I did not speak with them or command them concerning burnt offering and sacrifice.
26 However, they wouldn’t listen to Me or pay attention, but became obstinate; they did more evil than their ancestors.

God had a problem that they were making sacrifices without being repentant for their sins. It had nothing to do with thinking feasts are prophecies. They aren't.

Pesach was not a prophetic prelude?

And in Malachi he says זכרון Commemorate the receiving of the Torah of Môsʰéʰ (i.e. Shavout) ...for behold I will send you the Prophet Alîyəʰûʷ....

And thus John the Baptist was born on Shavout-Pentecost six months before Meshiach.

We should have a new thread just circling around this verse.

The New Covenant does not include such things.
Zephaniah 3:18
I will remove from you all who mourn over the loss of your appointed festivals, which is a burden and reproach for you.
In Context | Full Chapter | Other Translations

The man in linen with the writing kit is Yahshua. The mark is a single ash mark in memory of Moses pole with serpent. The six men are the Lampsticks; and one Lampstick has been removed. This takes place after the death of the Two Witnesses.
Ezekiel 9 New International Version (NIV)
Judgment on the Idolaters
9 Then I heard him call out in a loud voice, “Bring near those who are appointed to execute judgment on the city, each with a weapon in his hand.” 2 And I saw six men coming from the direction of the upper gate, which faces north, each with a deadly weapon in his hand. With them was a man clothed in linen who had a writing kit at his side. They came in and stood beside the bronze altar.

3 Now the glory of the God of Israel went up from above the cherubim, where it had been, and moved to the threshold of the temple. Then the Lord called to the man clothed in linen who had the writing kit at his side 4 and said to him, “Go throughout the city of Jerusalem and put a mark (singular not plural) on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all the detestable things that are done in it.”

5 As I listened, he said to the others, “Follow him through the city and kill, without showing pity or compassion. 6 Slaughter the old men, the young men and women, the mothers and children, but do not touch anyone who has the mark. Begin at my sanctuary.” So they began with the old men who were in front of the temple.

7 Then he said to them, “Defile the temple and fill the courts with the slain. Go!” So they went out and began killing throughout the city. 8 While they were killing and I was left alone, I fell facedown, crying out, “Alas, Sovereign Lord! Are you going to destroy the entire remnant of Israel in this outpouring of your wrath on Jerusalem?”

9 He answered me, “The sin of the people of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great; the land is full of bloodshed and the city is full of injustice. They say, ‘The Lord has forsaken the land; the Lord does not see.’ 10 So I will not look on them with pity or spare them, but I will bring down on their own heads what they have done.”

11 Then the man in linen with the writing kit at his side brought back word, saying, “I have done as you commanded.”
