I mean - allegations come up about sexual misconduct w/respect to Conyers and Franken. Conyers leaves. Franken has pressure to leave, and very well likely will soon. Both then opening up the chance of losing seats in special elections.

Moore has allegations of being a pedophile that even the GOP establishment agrees are credible, and the Republicans circle the wagon and there's a very good chance he'll win.

I mean, I could understand it if it was a quid pro quo type thing... But that's not what it is - lol.

Shows you that it's not to your advantage to be a party of principle when the opposition is Machiavellian!

Sadly when a citizenry is willing to do bidding of enemy just to claim victory, what else can be done?

I actually find it refreshing that all of a sudden democrats are taking the matter of sexual harassment seriously. Hopefully in the next presidential election they won't pick a candidate with a long, proven history of attacking women for speaking up against their attacker(s).

Well, I think it's an interesting dynamic. Democrats have been positioning themselves for a long time as being the social justice warriors. Like, most of my liberal friends are happy that Franken is leaving, that Conyers resigned, etc...for those allegations.

So, yeah, it is something that the rank and file take seriously. The GOP however seems to still be stuck in the making excuses and justifying any behavior for the sake of political expediency - and I do wonder if it will serve the Democrats to actually be principled in contrast to an unprincipled Machiavellian party.

It also doesn't serve the Democrats well, because it seems that in being strictly the social justice party, they are sacrificing focusing on other things that are more meaningful to the majority of the electorate. Like, for me it's all well and good that they're focusing on sexual harassment, but things like my $1,500 per month health insurance plan with a $5k deductible, $10,000 out of pocket max has far more real impact upon my life. I'd rather they address those types of things.

They are credible only to the credulous. Who would wait
38 years to come forward, and only when he is running
for a federal office? It isn't like Weinstein. Hollywooders
all knew about him, but treated him like the crazy uncle
that they tolerated because he had money. The left knew
about Clinton and Conyers, but didn't care because they
had political power.

There are plenty of reasons why people don’t come forward, to be honest. And why does the fact that they waited until he ran for federal office before coming completely public make a difference?

Like I said before - yeah - it has come to the public attention because those that brought it to the public attention wanted to do his campaign harm. But so what? It’s either true or it isn’t.

90% of the stuff you see on Fox News is investigated solely with the intent to do harm to the dems. But that doesn’t diminish whether it’s true or not.

So yeah - apparently Moore’s proclivities and preferences weren’t exactly a secret. Once he decided to transition from local kook inflicting harm locally to national kook inflicting harm nationally - they decided to delve further into his preferences and besmirch him. Looks like he deserved to be besmirched - at least any good father of a young daughter would probably think lol.

So not exactly sure why “they were out to get him” is somehow an arguing point. Of couse they were. Maybe next time don’t pick someone thats easy to find perverted stuff on

It's not that they were just out to get him. It's that
they've been out to get him for years, and nothing
like this has ever surfaced before. You would think
that in 38 years, some whispers would get around
if there were anything to the charges.

Who's been out to get him? The only awareness I had of the guy before recently is the whole 10 commandments brouhaha. But it wasn't like he was really RUNNING for anything national.

I think people expect a certain amount of backwards wackiness to come from Alabama, and so long as he's only running for Alabama office (like the supreme court of Alabama), he was just ignored and treated as an interesting fringe figure. But once national aspirations came into view, in light of an election, he faced greater scrutiny.

Do you think that my take on how national media outlets like The Washington Post is off base? Like, prior to him running for national election, I'd be curious to do a search for him on there and see just how much attention they actually paid to him.

Democrats are becoming the party of the new moral purity. I'm not sure if that's good or bad, ultimately. I do think maybe their ethic is a bit unrealistic. Competence may be what this nation needs right now, more than moral purity. But I think this is down to the religious culture in the US having deep inroads psychologically, even on secular people. We are basically Puritans at heart, we believe there are good people and bad people and no grey areas.

Agreed. While I may agree with them on many levels - I don’t necessarily think their focus is on the right things.

Sexual harassment is bad and should not be condoned- but I’d argue that things like corruption in the healthcare sector have far bigger impacts upon our country. I’d rather they focus on fixing that.
