Yes, you're right he was planning to put her away secretly. We also know from scripture that mercy triumphs over judgment. However, I am not sure what your argument is here. Are you saying the law is bad? Since God is the one who gave the law, how could it be bad? When Jesus comes back He is going to judge the world according to Gods laws. Paul said the law is holy in Romans 7:12. So, while we are no longer under the law but under grace, that doesn't make the law bad. Also, as Christians we still have to obey Gods commands; Jesus said if you love me you will obey my commands.

And you started your post buy stating I said he "only" wanted...servants, indicating I said no relationship was necessary, when I did not say or even imply that. You have already made it clear to me your "all of the time" notion means something ridiculous like every second of every day, so why would you think I'd even engage you on that mess you keep spouting?

He repented of is "bad" ways, decided to give up his not so good life and come back. No one ever once stated that was not possible but you are either not able to understand that or you are choosing only to see what you think means no good works necessary.

One question, did anyone here so much as indicate we could not stop our evil ways and come back to the father? If so, show me. None of us are expected to be perfect, exactly why Christ died, so please stop trying to put those words in my mouth....you are pretending that is what we expect in order to make our point unreasonable...again, nothing new. The story of the prodigal son is a great story to illustrate the point of the original post, mercy over law.
Luke 15:11-32
The younger son did not honor his father, he just wanted his father's money. No gratitude at all.
Just give me my money and I will be on my way.
So the father divided his living among the two sons. And shortly thereafter away the younger son went.
Now at this point the younger son was not honoring the father and according to Exodus 21 if you curse or strike your parents you are to be stoned. But this Father did no such thing, but had mercy on him and then when the prodigal finally came back with a ready made speech hoping to be made a servant, the Father had more mercy and lavished kisses and other gifts upon him.
The older son he considered himself a servant, and he just wanted his Father's money as evidenced by verses 29-30, but the Father told him in :31 everything the Father had was his.

First and foremost we should consider ourselves to be His children 1 John 3:1
Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God:

Secondly, we are servants to one another as evidenced by what Jesus said "We are to love each other as He loved us".

Once we know how much God loves we will love Him in return and we will love His children as well, our brothers and sisters.
We will spread the Gospel to others so that the family may grow.
