Century lady. Please. Don’t have a heart attack..... I like you too much for that!
I personally don't care for Luther's "Sin boldly" comment.
I know it is not what Luther meant, at least I hope not, but I believe he did mean all our sins are paid for no matter how many or how heinous.

It is like saying, "Jesus paid for all of my sins, so I can just go out and sin all I want".
No one who gets an understanding of the fact that Jesus paid for all of our sin would want to do that.
But, some people see the doctrine that Jesus paid for all our sin and without an understanding of it go to the other extreme and say it can't be true and we have to have good behavior/law keeping.
And then they use Luther's statement as ammunition against the truth that Jesus did pay for all our sins, no matter how great a sinner we are and we still sin even as believers.

Get used to it...... without knowing the cause, we tried for hours several times to get to the source of her lack of peace, and she was never willing to talk about this in a way that would help. Some teacher most likely with false doctrines has apparently held her with 'tickling ears' for quite some time. That's all we could figure out anyway, and as long as she relies on those errors and that teacher or teachers, there doesn't appear to be anything we can do.

Remember he was bringing light out of darkness,(or LIGHT to darkness, and bringing people out of darkness as God's messenger),
truth out of a totally hypocritical system - where when anyone sinned, it was used against them by their rulers, and people were terrified even to let others know the truth about themselves "we are sinners" - ARRRGGGHH! shhhhhhhh...... don't ask, don't tell ???
"Sin boldly" perhaps was simply , confess your faults to one another (not to priests, which is a great error), don't try to hide sins from God, but acknowledge them in order to be healed personally and as an assembly.

Jeff, what lack of peace? What you are describing, never happened to my knowledge.

What is it you think I believe anyway. I would like for you to describe what false doctrine you think I have. It would be my own, so don't describe some other teacher. And then show me the scriptures I've contradicted. I'm always willing to learn.

And I'm sorry, but I don't remember what you or Anabaptists believe. Does the "Ana" part mean against, or anti? So are you against baptism? That may sound ridiculous, but I'm just looking at the name. For some reason I thought you were Messianic - must be your name you've chosen.

Thank you for this huge clue. I've often wondered why there are so many that are lost in the church when we all use the same Bible. It's not the Bible they are reading, it is Luther! Yikes!

Please don’t burn me at the stake quite yet. It’s Buckey football” time Let me just say that I do not worship Luther....he is just a man and I agree with his commentary’s o Romans and Galations.can you grasp that?He said many things that are flat out wrong...but if you go to any type of Protestant Church , it is only because of his rebellion against the catholic church that you will not be paying money to get your loved ones out of the imaginary and blasphemous “Purgatory”—what a damnable way for that “church” to get rich.love him or hate him you are in debt to his insight and courage.he easily could have killed by the Catholics for protesting these damnable teachings.
When he said “sin boldly”, he was not downplaying sin—he was UPLIFTING Christ and the incredible value of His sacrifice and the amazing value of His grace. Can’t you understand that? Have you ever exaggerated something to make a point? That it what he is doing! Do you seriously think he wanted Christians to go out and rape and murder? If you think that is true ......well , I ainT gonna go there.I don’ expect legalists to get it...but is there anybody out there that understands what Luther was trying to get across? There is an amazing amount of wisdom and insight in these forums.I hope and pray others see what Luther was doing.
Finished this just in time to see the Buckey game.... and no,I do not worship a football team.
Hope you have recovered, century lady! Go get some fresh air! Lol. God bless you all

Yes, the Reformation did free us from the Catholic Church's unscriptural "holy traditions," but as I can see on this thread Luther didn't go far enough, and in other ways went too far into perverting the good in the Catholic Church's scriptural doctrines. I don't know if you noticed my post #260. I found the quote on Luther, but also the scripture in Revelation that depicts the age of the Reformation - Sardis - the dead church. And why was it dead? Look at what Luther wrote. Not one word about the power of the Holy Spirit. That is why our human faith alone isn't enough. Why repent, if you don't believe sinning has anything to do with our damnation?

What the Holy Spirit provides is power NOT TO SIN. We are dead to sin. We become new creatures. Luther's way is you stay the same, and Jesus saves you. What I believe is not legalism. It is constant listening. And following what the Spirit tells you.

What Luther told his friend, Philip Melanchthon is basically to do the opposite of dying to the flesh. He's basically saying to feed the flesh, but believe that Jesus will save you even more. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, IF indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

It if one thing to have faith in Jesus Christ, but another all together of having no evidence that He is in you.

"Only the sin of rejecting Christ"?

It seems you don't believe that rejecting Christ is all that serious, as though there are more serious sins than that.
Come on now. That is not what I meant at all. I meant "only" in the sense that other sins, such as murder, adultery, etc. are grievous too. Stuff like this, along with your constant attempts to portray others as attempting to earn their way into heaven, is a form of Phariseeism.

As for your other points, I suppose we have already been down that road already.

God bless.

Because I believe Paul’s Gospel I am Righteous in Gods eyes.i make absolutely NO effort to keep the law..I’ve discovered a paradox in my faith...the less I work at keeping the law,The better I do at it....now that does not make sense! Unless God put the law in my heart.what a joyful life I found when I learned to “ let go and let God””
Yes, you really strike me as a person who has the joy and charity of God in his heart. Especially when you write things such as this:

The îdea of purgatory negates everything Paul preached...he called some people “perverts” and said others were damned for preaching a false gospel...I thought I was pretty mild compared to him....wonder what he would say if he were with us now....I not only have joy and love in my heart....I have enough love to be harsh when the truth needs to come forward to defend Paul’s Gospel.....even a wretched sinner like me can be on the right side every now and thenn....please show me your chapter and verse that proves purgatory is Biblical...God bless you

please show me your chapter and verse that proves purgatory is Biblical

38 Then Judas assembled his army and went to the city of Adul′lam. As the seventh day was coming on, they purified themselves according to the custom, and they kept the sabbath there.

39 On the next day, as by that time it had become necessary, Judas and his men went to take up the bodies of the fallen and to bring them back to lie with their kinsmen in the sepulchres of their fathers. 40 Then under the tunic of every one of the dead they found sacred tokens of the idols of Jam′nia, which the law forbids the Jews to wear. And it became clear to all that this was why these men had fallen. 41 So they all blessed the ways of the Lord, the righteous Judge, who reveals the things that are hidden; 42 and they turned to prayer, beseeching that the sin which had been committed might be wholly blotted out. And the noble Judas exhorted the people to keep themselves free from sin, for they had seen with their own eyes what had happened because of the sin of those who had fallen. 43 He also took up a collection, man by man, to the amount of two thousand drachmas of silver, and sent it to Jerusalem to provide for a sin offering. In doing this he acted very well and honorably, taking account of the resurrection. 44 For if he were not expecting that those who had fallen would rise again, it would have been superfluous and foolish to pray for the dead. 45 But if he was looking to the splendid reward that is laid up for those who fall asleep in godliness, it was a holy and pious thought. Therefore he made atonement for the dead, that they might be delivered from their sin.
