Prominent Liberal Legal Scholar Shunned by Liberal Friends for Telling Truth About Russia Investigation

Alan Dershowitz, proud lifelong liberal, Obama voter, friend and supporter of Bill and Hillary Clinton, has been shunned by liberal friends for proclaiming that President Donald Trump is not guilty of obstruction of justice in the Russia investigation.

“Dershowitz told The Washington Post on Wednesday, he is being shunned by many of his old political allies. His motives are being questioned. And people who used to be his friends just don’t want to hear from him.”

“None of my liberal friends invite me to dinner anymore,” he told the Post. “Thanks to Donald Trump, I’ve lost seven pounds. I call it the Donald Trump diet,” he quipped.
“There's never been a case in history where a president has been charged with obstruction of justice for merely exercising his constitutional authority. That would cause a constitutional crisis in the United States,” Dershowitz continued.

Trump has the constitutional authority — under Article II — to direct the U.S. Department of Justice toward who to investigate and who not to investigate, according to Dershowitz.

“That's what Thomas Jefferson did, that's what Lincoln did, that's what Roosevelt did. We have precedents that clearly establish that.”

If that argument sounds familiar, it’s because it was made last week by Trump’s personal lawyer, John Dowd, who in a statement that shocked many, declared that the “president cannot obstruct justice because he is the chief law enforcement officer under [the Constitution’s Article II].”

That novel interpretation of the law was immediately dubbed the “Dershowitz-Dowd theory.” It was controversial enough that Trump’s White House lawyer, Ty Cobb, hastened to state that it was not a theory adopted by the president and not a defense he would deploy.

Alan Dershowitz’s new reality: Tweeted by Trump, shunned by liberal friends

Seems that Trump's lawyers don't even agree that the theory is all that sound. I'd quote more from the article but it is mainly Dershowitz whining about how his truthfulness it costing him bigly.

If Dershowitz is correct, why is Hillary not on her way to court?

Is it your claim that anyone who supports the democratic party is a liberal?

I quoted a source. Your issue is not with what I said, but what the source stated. You would have to ask the source.

No, I'm asking you because unless it is your contention that all democrats are liberal quoting that he supports democrats does not show he is a liberal.

No, I am quoting multiple sources that identify him as a liberal. Sorry you have problems with that. But that is your issue, not mine.

That's what I'm saying. Your source does not state he is a liberal and I'm pointing out why I think that. If you disagree would you kindly explain why?

Here is another source:

Alan Dershowitz, the famed defense lawyer and Harvard Law School professor emeritus, is a lifelong liberal and proud of it.

Alan Dershowitz’s new reality: Tweeted by Trump, shunned by liberal friends

And another:

How Alan Dershowitz Went From Hillary Donor to Trump’s Attack Dog on Russia

Alan Dershowitz—a liberal Harvard law professor and ardent backer of Hillary Clinton—has emerged as one of the Russia probe’s most vocal critics.

Yes, those claim he is a liberal. I'm asking about this one.

Alan Dershowitz - Wikipedia

Dershowitz is an avowed supporter of the Democratic Party. In 2016, he stated that he would cancel his party membership if Keith Ellison was appointed party chair;[32] Tom Perez was appointed instead. Dershowitz endorsed Hillary Clinton in the 2008 presidential election, and later endorsed the party nominee, Barack Obama.[33]

If you are simply supplying that as supporting evidence that is fine. I'm just trying to get clarification not trap you into anything. Why are you acting like I am being unreasonable by asking?

Questioning is a liberal fallacy.
