Yes, you're right he was planning to put her away secretly. We also know from scripture that mercy triumphs over judgment. However, I am not sure what your argument is here. Are you saying the law is bad? Since God is the one who gave the law, how could it be bad? When Jesus comes back He is going to judge the world according to Gods laws. Paul said the law is holy in Romans 7:12. So, while we are no longer under the law but under grace, that doesn't make the law bad. Also, as Christians we still have to obey Gods commands; Jesus said if you love me you will obey my commands.
