Kirsten Gillibrand, a Senator who has worked for years to hold the military accountable for sexual abuse, said it best:

“We need to draw a line in the sand and say none of it is okay, none of it is acceptable. We as elected leaders should absolutely be held to a higher standard, not a lower standard, and we should fundamentally be valuing women," she said, in a news conference. "That is where this debate has to go.”

Franken apologized for another instance like this --

""The first thing I want to do is apologize. To Leann, to everyone who was part of that tour, to everyone who has worked for me, to everyone I represent, and to everyone who counts on me to be an ally and supporter and champion of women."

I wonder if Franken is a believer.

I think people largely are willing to let go of what Trump did, forcibly kissing, etc., because Trump did not deny it?

I know for me that Trump didn't deny it helped a lot.

Here is my statement.

I’ve never said I’m a perfect person, nor pretended to be someone that I’m not. I’ve said and done things I regret, and the words released today on this more than a decade-old video are one of them. Anyone who knows me, know these words don’t reflect who I am.

I said it, it was wrong, and I apologize.

Frankly, for me, this is what is missing from Judge Moore. Also, why was Moore removed from being a Justice twice?

Twice?.....

Here's one thing I found:
"The Alabama Court of the Judiciary on Sept. 30, 2016 suspended Moore for the remainder of his term as chief justice after finding him guilty of six charges of violation of the canons of judicial ethics. The charges were brought and prosecuted by the Alabama Judicial Inquiry Commission."
Roy Moore's suspension upheld by Alabama Supreme Court; decision next week on Senate race

Another Franken apology later, after that above:

Last Updated Nov 27, 2017 3:52 PM EST

Sen. Al Franken, D-Minnesota, delivered a statement outside of his Capitol Hill office regarding the sexual misconduct allegations against him Monday afternoon.

The senator apologized again to his constituents, staff and the multiple women who have come forward accusing Franken of groping and other inappropriate behavior. He reemphasized that he does not plan to step down.

"I'm going to try and learn from my mistakes," Franken said. "And in doing so I've been doing a lot of reflecting and I want to be someone who adds something to this conversation, and I hope I can do that." ...

Al Franken apologizes for sexual misconduct allegations

So....is Franken a believer?

Franken is acting as a believer should act, at least, in the confession and real apology.

If you don't think it's real, just click the link and see the video.

So, if Moore claims to be "Christian", shouldn't Moore be at least as Christian acting as Franken in this way?

If Franken acts humble....

Isn't that more "Christian" than acting non-humble?

Just no. I really like him and think he's a very effective congressman. I also think he should resign. Just because you like someone doesn't give them special privileges to act inappropriately. Or, it shouldn't. Now I want Farenthold to resign, too, of course. And anyone else that spent my tax money to settle a sexual harassment case in the congress.

...look at post 19.

As I've said since I came back, there is a paradigm shift happening. As for the Democrats, it has little to nothing to do with morals, but the "Listen and believe" culture that they've helped foster eating their own.

Please see post #62 or #63 just above.

Are we going to use a double standard now?

I'd like a "Christian" to act at least as Christian as Franken in Franken's humble apology.

(click the link in #63 and see for yourself if it's humble in the video, if you aren't sure)

I am really concerned. Democrats pledge to force everyone out of office who has "kissed" or "briefly grabbed" a woman in a public setting.

In the meantime, Republicans defend pedophiles and molesters with huge piles of evidence against them (including the president) because they deny involvement.

Democrats have set the bar so high that there could be 100 Congressman and Senators who got loaded one night at an office Christmas party and committed some (relatively) minor offense...

It would be so easy for Alt-Righters like Steve Bannon to beat the bushes, perhaps even offering financial incentives, for women to come forward and go after someone on their "enemies list." After all, isn't that what happened with right-wing media darling LeeAnn Tweeden? And if Democrats stopped raising a fuss, they'd call them "hypocrites."

In the meantime, all over Republican land, pedophiles and molesters walk (or perhaps slither on their bellies) while proclaiming innocence, and Republicans defend them.

I see this going badly. I think Franken should stay and retire from the Senate in 2018. He's confessed, he's reformed, and his offenses were infinitesimal compared to Moore's and Trump's.

Franken was admittedly guilty.

Moore's alleged offenses are neither proven nor admitted ... though we do know, with certainty, they were exposed by a political propaganda machine.

Moore's alleged offenses are neither proven nor admitted ... though we do know, with certainty, they were exposed by a political propaganda machine.
And that's how the press lies ...

You believe that woman after woman has made allegations of underage predation. It's not true. Only one such allegation has been made, and it is denied. The rest of the smoke involves young women who admit to being of legal age ... and of those all but one claim they were treated very decently at the time.

The source for Moore molesting more than one that I was seeing yesterday was from a Fox News viewpoint piece (I don't limit my sources to just 1 or 3 viewpoints or one side), for instance --

I have defended Alabama Senate candidate Judge Roy Moore’s statements about God and law, but his conduct is indefensible. Not only in decades past but in the past week.

Four women have charged that Moore made sexual advances when he was thirty-plus and they were teenagers. One was only 14 when, she claims, Moore undressed and fondled her in his car and tried to force her into a sex act.

A fifth woman, Beverly Young Nelson, charged Moore with assault and attempted rape when she was 16.

There aren’t many options here. Either the women are lying as part of a well-executed conspiracy against the judge, or Moore did what the women accuse him of doing.

Lies aren’t unheard of in political campaigns. Smears happen. Politicians plot, especially in high-stakes elections.

It’s not impossible here. As we’ve learned more about Moore’s young adulthood, though, the conspiracy theory has become increasingly implausible.

Several of the women share Moore’s religious and political convictions. Moore’s preference for teenage girls was common knowledge among his colleagues ...

Roy Moore and the one big question for voters

Do we have a double standard?

We are forgiving Trump, who apologized.

What is an equal standard?
And...he's done. But not without attacking Trump and Moore as the door hits him in the butt on the way out. :D

It's a bad situation, because the non believer Franken appears to be more humble than the "Christian" Moore.

If someone out there doesn't know about what Christian actually is, then looking at Franken and Moore, I'd expect them to think this Christian thing is fake.

That's not good.

So, Franken has apologized.

What is an equal standard?
The problem is that if you look at the accusations regarding all of these guys as automobile citations, they are not all equal, the same, or based on the same quality of evidence. One may be a speeding ticket, another DUI, another failing to stop. One has a photograph, one has a complaint by one person who saw it, and also has it out for the guy, etc.

They each stand on their own merits or lack thereof.

Right.

Trump did worse than Franken, and also admitted it wrong, repented publicly.

Are we using a double standard against Franken?

Not me. I didn't think franken should resign. Apparently his party felt a need to have him fall on his sword - probably to send a message regarding Trump and Moore. :D

You may have a point.

They've been awfully EAGER for Franken to do so.

Yep. He's trying to set a precident that if someone accuses you of doing something, and the accusations have the word, "sex", somewhere, you are obligated to "do the right thing" and step down.

Except that is stupid.

As one female trump voter, interviewed by NPR during the general election, said about trump's "grab 'em" remark: I'm voting for president, not husband."

Yep. People tell you a lot more about their motives with their actions than their words. They want Trump and Moore BAD. That is way bigger than Franken, and they can always replace him with another democrat, and he gets his nice pension, so this is a very low cost gamble by the D's. It will fail, of course.

Exactly.

The bottom line is that they already KNEW about Franken. It's rather glaringly odd that there was not a "peep" before now, and all of a sudden there's a "frenzy" of "outrage".
