A few days ago Mitt Romney criticized Roy Moore on Twitter, saying that voting for Moore wasn't worth the party losing its honor and integrity. The following day, Steve Bannon was stumping for Roy Moore and ripped into Romney, claiming that Romney "hid behind his religion" by becoming a missionary to France to avoid the Vietnam draft. He continued by criticizing Romney for not raising any of his sons to serve in the military.

Bannon quickly brushed aside any comparisons to Trump by saying that "we can debate" the issue of college deferments, and ignoring the fact that none of Trump's children have served in the military, either.

Both Trump and Franken apologized for actions.

What about Moore?

Did he, or not?

Here's why we are able to let go of what Trump did -- a real confession and turning:

Here is my statement.

I’ve never said I’m a perfect person, nor pretended to be someone that I’m not. I’ve said and done things I regret, and the words released today on this more than a decade-old video are one of them. Anyone who knows me, know these words don’t reflect who I am.

I said it, it was wrong, and I apologize....
========================

We can respect that! A real confession and apology.

Did Moore apologize for anything publically?

Hi tom,

I don't know about being the 'master'. He seems to have a lot of competition in the current administration for that title.

God bless you,
In Christ, ted

Sidestepped is more like it, bone spurs make dogging painful.
Haven’t kept him off the links. Feet issues were a common dodge. Not that I blame him. Avoiding the draft was a cottage industry.

They didn’t allow golf carts on patrol in Vietnam.

If the elite had served they would have. He still dodged. I doubt he had anything but a friendly family doctor. Remember his physician during the campaign said he was the healthiest candidate in American history.

Had the president criticized Roy Moore in the same terms as Romney did, you would have a point there. He didn't, so you don't.

So Trump draft dodging is more legit than Romney’s? Oh that’s right, it’s the Mormon thing. Gotcha

I get what you're saying, but if Bannon is charging Romney with dishonor because he dodged Vietnam with a religious deferment and because he didn't raise a platoon of sons, then the same actions should've been just as dishonorable for Trump. Trump dodged Vietnam with deferments no more justified than Romney's, and none of Trump's sons have served in the military. In fact, their kids are all (or mostly) in the same industries: finance and real estate investment.

Romney's charge of dishonor had nothing to do with Moore's military service, and Bannon's response implying that his military service automatically makes him honorable was stupid and shallow. William Calley served in Vietnam, too. Should we hold him up as honorable? Lee Harvey Oswald and Charles Whitman were both Marines; Tim McVeigh and David Berkowitz were in the Army. The Green River Killer did a tour in Vietnam. Are they honorable?

Those individuals showed what one motivated Marine and his rifle can do! And before you ladies leave my island, you will all be able to do the same thing!

Yes, I have seen clips of the speech. Maybe he can keep up his efforts? Maybe he can find another ex-witch out there to challenge an incumbent or maybe he can find another candidate to challenge an incumbent who thinks that a woman's body responds to rape, in such a way to prevent pregnancy? How did this work for you a few years ago GOP Primary voters? Do you want to repeat the mistakes of the past and lose a few more seats like the ones in Delaware, Missouri and Indiana (and probably Nevada as well)?
