O
I am, of course, willing to discuss this over PM with most people.
Except with me, unfortunately, though I tried. Some things could have been avoided if it were otherwise. I've got a constant eye on Forgiveness Sunday, gz.

Haven't heard any more on this thread. I was wondering if Rus is over his, to quote the Clash, "Should I Stay or Should I Go" mode and back to being with us again?

Let me just say this Rus---THE IGNORE BUTTON ROCKS! I haven't heard hardly any socialism or liberalism or other insanity in a long time. It's wonderful! Hit that ignore button, and suddenly people willing to sell their political soul to abortion, LGBTism, and secular humanism evaporate. I highly recommend it.

It is my belief, Rus, that there are a couple of posters who are not truly Orthodox. I will not name them. Since any Tom, Dick, or Harry can come on TAW and pose as Orthodox, and we have no power to call them to the carpet (thought I wish we could!), we have to live around this. What you do is hit the IGNORE BUTTON and their hostile diatribe becomes part of the phantom zone. Evidently someone attacked my character in here. I'm not sure who it was though I could guess. But the beauty is, I don't know what they said nor do I care anymore! I just read whom I want to read. The static noise is gone. Look into it, brother!

Rus,

I hate to see you leave, but I can understand why. I've considered leaving the forum for some time myself. Sadly, I think the only thing keeping me hear is that one inquirer waiting to ask a question needing an answer. The fellowship this site had back when I first joined is going away no matter how much I tried to keep it going. The rules are becoming more and more PC - though I like the comparison of St Nicholas "flaming" Arius ;)

This is some really good, practical advice. No wonder you are always so cheery here. You are like my father-in-law who gradually became hard of hearing and thus no longer heard his wife’s nagging. He became noticeably less bilious as he aged.

Rus, why don’t you consider partially dropping out, ie ignoring those who are causing you distress?

In case I am one of those distress causers and I am already on “ignore”, well, I guess it won’t matter that you don’t receive this.

I can attest that the ignore function is indeed quite helpful. Of course, I generally only read my own comments, anyway.
It’s a good way to avoid being disputatious. I used to get in arguments a lot, but by focusing on my own comments, rather than what anybody else might say, I find myself in much greater agreement with opinions at TAW.

@rusmeister @E.C. @ArmyMatt @gzt and anyone else I may have missed.

As an inquirer, though a very quiet one, I appreciate you all sticking around or having been around. If not for this forum who knows what I would or wouldn't have learned, or if I even would've been as interested in Orthodoxy.

I've learned a lot here, and I feel quite blessed for having come across this forum and you folks.

So, thank you all. You're all in my prayers.

We need to get you, All4Christ, Jesus4Madrid, Jay, Anhelyna, EC, Prodromos, EC, Rob, Anastasia, Rus, and a few others and create our own forum! Nobody turning people in at every turn. No drama. No secular humanism....

yep, this is the main reason I stick around

I was going to say if the rules are becoming too oppressive here then maybe we should start a FB group just for members of this subforum, and we can invite others as we see fit.
I wonder how long we would last before FB decided we were undesirables.

Not long. Trolls abound and they love to report traditionalists. Liberals in real life use Antifa; online they use the report button more than a toilet flusher!!

Well I'm in if y'all are.

I've got several hundred Orthodox friends on there, most pretty solid, but most doing their own thing. Just post good edifying stuff. Which is perfect for me.

If you post in your own group - nobody to see and report it. I get overlooked by FB, as do most of my friends.

Even if you get reported by a troll/mole in the group over being a traditionalist Orthodox Christian Facebook likely wouldn't respond to the report let alone take action.

I am not meaning leave here in protest. People find us here. Shutting away in an enclave makes for a good place to retreat to, and maybe even have discussions that might not be good for public commenting by just anyone.

But I would still be here too. God willing.
