How could the Father of fathers, Who created everything, condone such a savage and unspeakably cruel institution and practice?

I know right?! How could he! But.. that is actually what happens in the bible..

God actually ordered the Moses' people to kill the men of a non believing tribe and take their wives as slaves for themselves. That doesn't sound at all like God being opposed to slavery. Slavery is actually a very common subject in the bible and only in one case (that I know of) God freed the slaves, simply because they were his followers, not merely because they were slaves. There are a lot of other situations where the bible confronts the reader with slavery. In most of those cases God doesn't come to the rescue...

This is of course very easily explained. The men who wrote the bible lived in a time that slavery was normal, even moral. So don't try to exonerate God (like he didn't approve of slavery), because the book that tells God's ways and whims doesn't frown upon it at all.

Even in the 21st century, it is a sad fact the slavery is still happening in the world. Most people find this disgusting practice to be totally repugnant and immoral.

Most people do not listen to the words of eternal life. They just do whatever they want to do.

When people receive eternal life, slavery is nothing in comparison.

If you believe that what is described in the Bible as slavery is comparable to the slavery in Colonial times in America or slavery of today, you do not have a correct understanding of scripture. If you believe that God said that having slaves in the Bible was a righteous act, you do not understand the Bible.

Please enlighten us (with substantive scriptural arguments) how the concept of slavery is different (and maybe even excusable) from slavery in the Colonial times or slavery today?

"Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ."

Yeah, please explain how having slaves is not okay according tot he bible

Slavery the last few hundred years was often brutal, and deadly.
Not at all like the instructions to slave owners in Scripture,
not at all like all the instructions to believers in Scripture.

So now the idea of taking ones freedom for the rest of their life and make them work without pay is okay, just as long as you don't treat your slaves bad?

Do you incidentally have any indication that slavery in the biblical times was not brutal or deadly?
