I'm extremely concerned about the CHIP program that hasn't had funding in about two months. CHIP is healthcare for children from low income working families.
They'd propably turn out poor as well.

Because the Senate and House versions of the tax bill differ considerably, they have to reconciled in committee. Then each chamber must vote again on the final version. Changes will be made, and I'm doubtful than some Senators will support anything that makes insurance more expensive for those who need it the most. Sen Collins already insisted that the Senate bill--unlike the House version--retains a deduction for medical expenses over 7.5% of AGI for the next 2 years. Be assured--there's more horsetrading to come.

Collins: Senate bill will include medical expense deduction amendment

and approved drilling in 2000 acres (that's 1/10000 of the total) of ANWAR as well!

Wow! Did they really? Is that in the new tax bill? That's FANTASTIC! We need so much more oil and clearly the penguins and the polar bears aren't going to use it. And who even goes to the ANWR Park anyway?

I think they shouldn't bother drilling, we should just dig up all the oil with a giant strip oil mine.

Did you know that in other nations such a thing would be voted on seperately instead of it being saddled on completely unrelated legislation to sneak it through?

One more reason why the USA is the best, freest country in the world.

Do you have any idea just how callous that sounds?
You're talking to the "kill all humanity and let the rats take over" guy, here.

Senate GOP repeals ObamaCare mandate

Senate Republicans have approved the repeal of ObamaCare’s individual mandate as part of their tax-cut bill, a major step toward ending an unpopular part of the health-care law.

“Families ought to be able to make decisions about what they want to buy and what works for them — not the government,” Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) said, hailing the accomplishment.

I believe if people don’t want to buy the ObamaCare insurance, they shouldn’t have to pay a tax penalty to the IRS.”

The Senate tax bill must still be reconciled with House legislation that does not include the mandate’s repeal. But that is unlikely to be a major issue, given support in the GOP conference for repealing the mandate.

Yay.
That is the only part of this bill I care about. It's all I've cared about since before the election. Well, at least way ahead of whatever was in second place. ;)

Yep. There is no way they could have passed this on its own with all the RINO's in the republican side of the aisle.

And trust me, there is no "sneaking" going on, except sneaking past the voters that are asleep at the wheel anyway. ;)

What you are saying sounds at least to me like "it's okay because the end justifies the means".

No. What I'm saying is that the only people surprised are those not paying attention. They are surprised by anything CNN and NPR doesn't blare at them all day long.

Protecting our republic involves vigilance and eyes wide open. Nothing was snuck through here. Everybody paying attention saw it and a lot of us have been arguing for it for a long time.

Medicaid is for the very poor working and non-working families.
Meanwhile, I have no health insurance. It's ok, though. Health care is about 70-90% cheaper when you don't have insurance and can pay.

I have been. Since 1/1/2014 I've had no health insurance. I'm not the only one.

I pray that you have no serious accident or illness that affects your employment. A great many Americans in that situation are months away from bankruptcy.

A major problem of the US market is the extreme price of every procedure, thanks to bloated costs, for-profit thinking and unneccessary procedures and tests to make more money and minimise the chance of making a very, very costly mistake.

I think it would be best to save up money and then go to another country if you need any treatment. You can get a lot more bang for your buck (so to speak) in many european, asian or south american countries, and if you don't need any high end surgery or want to be treated by the absolute best chirugeon in the world concerning your specific condition, they offer the same quality.

Yes, some opt for medical tourism.

Guys, this still isn't done yet. They now have to reconcile the 2 bills and then vote on it again. The 2 bills don't line up and any changes are likely to drop a lot of "yea" votes. While its very close, bear in mind that this can get derailed pretty easily and they are running low on time.
