DAY 30 / Deuteronomy 34 / Moses death and burial and the mourning of the Children of Israel. Joshua having served his apprenticeship under Moses takes over the leadership, full of the spirit of wisdom. We are now at the end of Deuteronomy and time to refer back to 'brinny' as to the next book. I am happy to support her in her posts. God bless you.

Thank you. That is very kind of you.

I'm sorry for not keeping up. (Aren't there 34 chapters in Deuteronomy?)

Do you want to go through these other chapters too?

JOSHUA received his call from God to lead the Children of Israel into the Promised Land, after the death of Moses God's faithful servant. He is promised success,"Every place that the sole of your feet will tread,I have given you'. No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life'. 'As I was with Moses,so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you'. 'Be strong and of good courage!' 'For to to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land to which I promised their fathers to give them' 'Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law' 'The Book of the law shall not depart from your minds, but you shall meditate on it day and night that you may observe to do according to all that is wtitten in it for then you will make your way prosperous and then you will have good success. Joshua prepared the Israelites to cross the Jordan. A new leader who had been Assistant to Moses for many years preparing his people to enter a new land. This wss a transitionary period with exciting times ahead!

i love how God was sooo encouraging to Joshua, especially after Moses died. It must've been quite a time for him, with the death of Moses. And interestingly, he is telling Joshua to cross the Jordan, which is akin to Moses leading His people in crossing the Red Sea.

It reminds me of God's encouragement to Gideon.

Precious.

DAY 2 / Joshua 2 / Joshua sent spies to lookout Caanan, especially Jericho. Good to be prepared but obedience is so necessary also. What God commands we must do with faith and courage!

This is when Rahab was found righteous, when she hid the two spies and allowed them to escape. And she did this because she feared the God of Israel. She believed that God was with them, and would overthrow the city, and she was promised safety when this happened.

Wonderful how God uses the most unusual people! The two spies, who went to Jericho came to the house of a harlot called Rahab and lodged there and the King of Jericho was informed that they were there and why! The King sent to Rahab and demanded that the men be brought out,as they were there to spy the land. But Rahab hid the men. She obviously came to faith in the One True God. (Hebrews 11:31) God led the two men to the one person in Jericho that could help them to avoid the enemy. She let them down by ropes by a window of her house that was on the city wall. She was given a line of scarlet cord to put in her window through which they escaped,so that her household would be saved when the city would be under siege. They went to the mountain and waited three days,as she had advised them, until their persuers returned to the city. They returned to Joshua telling him,"Surely the LORD has delivered all the land into our hands for all the people are scared of the people of Israel'.

Yes, God knew Rahab's heart and that she BELIEVED Him. She had heard all about the God of Israel, and she took it all to heart, and He gave her a heart for His people also.

Thank YOU! I love Joshua. God was such a GOOD Shepherd to him, and encouraged him, just like He encouraged Gideon.

Precious.

DAY 3 / Joshua 3 / The Crossing over of the Children of Israel through the Jordan River into Caanan. This is such an exciting event. The Priests with the Ark of the Covenant were to step into the water and the waters stopped and they led the people across. It was a wonderful miracle! Is there a 'Jordan' in your life? Have faith that God will see you through into all that He has prepared for you!

This is precious. God tells Joshua that He will confirm before all the people, that Joshua is now who they will follow, just as they followed and heeded Moses. He will show all the people that He indeed, is with Joshua.

"And the Lord said unto Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee." ~Joshua 3:7

DAY 4 / Joshua 4 / This a good chapter read in connection with Chapter 3. It fills in some more details about the crossing over to the Promised Land. Stones were laid as a memorial to all God had done. We must always remember the goodness of God!

I agree. I would love to visit the place where the stones were laid.
