Five years ago, I remember walking in the city to work. A lot of homeless individuals lay restless at bus stops and edges of sidewalks. Federal government workers with their professonal attire challenging the equality of who people are that isnt dependant on their work class and where they lived.

I saw one gentleman with a brown cardboard with Galations 3:20 which says: Ive been crucified in christ. I no longer live I, but Christ within me. Insofar, I live not for myself but for the son of god.

While this had not brought me to christ but it had let me understand the scriptural view of salvation. I was confirmed 2012 at our local Roman Catholic Church. I was saved by physical sacraments via faith.

Not everyone shares my sentiments for Catholicism in general. The bible didnt "save" me nor did just faith.

I didnt know where to put this since its not debate. My question is, how do you share in some detail how you believed that christ saved you? I challenge you to find words of your own without scripture because faith isnt an abstract mysterous word. If you are saved, in my view, a christian can articulate it especially if the experience is fact. I can share my factual experiences but I dont care to debate the RCC and whether its christian. I disagree with debating with your own peers. But I will only if asked.

How (rather than only why) were you and did you know you are saved? Is it only by scripture and faith or does it go beyond that?

How was I saved?
on my knees, in my bedroom, praying and repenting of my sin
/at 15 years old

How did I know I was saved?
Because I followed the way to Him to be saved. believe and repent

Was a bit later baptized by immersion.

Can i ask was it a feeling of confirmation after praying?

Our family had gone to church since I was very young. We attended a Methodist one, but later Mom started going to a Baptist. Believed in Jesus Christ when I was a little kid. Talked to Him about how pretty things were that He created, such as flowers. Mom started to show something in her life that I had not seen before, and I wanted it. Longed for the type of joy that she was experiencing. She had kept telling me that I needed to be saved, but then I'd say back as to that I was already. I loved Jesus Christ. But, there is a time when you must repent of sin and begin to live for Him. This is what happened that night in my room. Did not want what the world offers, but what He offers/eternal life. There was such a relief and confidence in knowing that I'd done the right thing. Either that night or very soon after, I wanted to do something for Jesus to thank Him. Began to think about how the disciples that were with Him fell asleep before He was betrayed, so I stayed up all night to try to make up some for that. He became my Best Friend and I would soon hear His voice and be called to one day teach Scripture.

Thats a beautiful conviction and experience.

Yes. I am Spiritually equipped to present my salvation experience to anyone, anywhere, anytime. I would never "think beyond scripture" to do that.

Beyond scripture i mean john 5:39. Talking about your experience of how you were saved (if not private).

Expressing your faith with or without the bible. Should be embedded in you right?

I already "did". My sig says I am a confirmed Catholic and former practitioner. I am a Vietnamese Zen Buddhist, I took the precepts at formal ceremony, and very fulfilled in my path so far 4 years. I would never ask you to convert to buddhism. I hope you extend that same curtousy to accept whats best for me.

To quote from another post which I think explains this:

“I met God on the banks of Lake Ontario as a troubled and depressed adolescent, passed the point of being suicidal as I had no energy even for that, wanting to die but not wanting to kill myself. As I sat there in the stillness of the day, under a magnificent oak tree, listening to the lapping of the waves, I heard a voice - from without or within, I am not sure, and since I was alone with nobody in the vicinity, I don't know if others would have heard it, but it was NOT my voice - that said "You are not alone. You are loved", and knew that Jesus was beside me. Both of these were about as far from my beliefs and emotions at that time. With this, came a sense of hope, and a sense of peace, and a newfound appreciation for life.

Unfortunately, as He withdrew from the immediacy of this encounter (not that He ever left, but my experience of Him was dulled), over time I walked away, drifted from the Church, drifted into worldliness and even dabbled with other religion (Buddhism) - all of this slowly over a matter of years. Before that, though , there was an attempt to walk in step with Him, and I don't know how to explain the role for which He used my youth pastor in that process - as a portrait of Himself, as a mirror to reflect Him in me, and in many ways...

And then, in time, He used a young woman co-worker to bring me back, as she invited to a small house group meeting (since I was not yet ready to return to church), and in gentleness, love and friendship, He led me back throughout her, into the church, where, once again He made Himself known very directly to me. During a healing prayer service, where I sought healing for a foot problem, He let me know that "It is not your feet that need healing, but your heart", and soon I was completely enveloped by what I can only describe as a golden warm blanket of love, around me, on top, at the side, underneath, within, beyond, and where there are no words to explain, but that this was all encompassing and, oh, there are no words to describe it. This was my turning point. I was different now, blessed, loved and claimed by Him, and bathed in His Spirit.”

I was baptised catholic as an adult. I remember as a young child walking myself into a Catholic Church and knowing this is God's house.
But I am not a good Catholic. I do not follow all their rituals and rules.
But I am a good Christian.. A!l grace comes from God. I am saved not because of who I am but because of who he is.

I have had many truly remarkable experiences. But they also did not provide my salvation.

God chose to bestow an un- dieing faith into my heart and that is why I am who I am. It all started with knowing his love.

Certainly. In fact there is only one way to do that. That expression is found in how one lives their life.

If someone asks me, I first wonder why. Generally I won't share my personal experience because I'm extremely tired of being ragged on even by people who cal themselves christian.

Its personal preference. I dont care for aguring with people who question my genuine questions only because we are online. It causes unnecessary assumptions. I do know that one of the most powerful tools for sharing scripture is testimony. Think about it though. The disciples gave their testimony, so did the OT people such as Moses and they had personal experiences-very personal-experiences with the creator and his son.

I have experiences I dont mind sharing but I personally dont ask why just I hope to know the question is genuine. I never got into debates about my opinion unless a christian, muslim even, wants toconvert me or calls me a seeker nust because i ask abiut their faith. Its an unwanted assumption but I love to discuss nonetheless.

Its personal preference. I dont care for aguring with people who question my genuine questions only because we are online. It causes unnecessary assumptions. I do know that one of the most powerful tools for sharing scripture is testimony. Think about it though. The disciples gave their testimony, so did the OT people such as Moses and they had personal experiences-very personal-experiences with the creator and his son.

Did I say I wouldn't share my testimony? For me I need foundation for the question to make a proper and reasonable statement. Without such there's no productive conversation about testimony.
