I used to be an Orthodox Christian. That kind of statecraft-priestcraft practiced in much of Russia has nothing to do with Jesus or his Gospel beyond turning him into a sock-puppet for the petty aspirations of men. The truth is that most Russians are only nominally Christian and don't understand much of anything about what being a Christian actually involves ethically. Instead, they substitute toxic nationalism, anti-semitism, and xenophobia.

I'm just saying that our culture (at least in my country) lacks a coherent, agreed upon sexual ethic from which to be outraged or to make other determinations about sexually moral behavior. We are certainly outraged when it comes to certain allegations and we're making judgments and determinations all the time, but it's unclear what the basis of these judgments is.

It could simply be that the light of God, which lights every man (John 1:9), guides them to want to do the right thing even if their personal creed isn't up-to-snuff from a Christian perspective.
