So if you havent guessed yet, my wife is not a Christian. Im curious as to what exactly 1 cor 7:14 entails with a Christian husband sanctifying his wife and vice versa, does it only pertain to the wedding ceremony? does (pretty sure i will get a big nope here) it mean she is saved? Thank you all for the help.

God keep you, and bless you with what He knows you need.

No. It does not mean she is saved; It merely means that your holy life style will lead her into a more sanctified path of safety (or life of holiness). Because you are not into partying and doing drugs, she will by logic and reason wanting to please you, be more likely to not do these things, etc. Granted, that does not mean she won't do these things, but by your being the man of the house and in living righteously, this will tend to rub off upon her in some ways. Your righteous life will be an example to help her to accept Christ better. Not that it is a guarantee that she will accept Christ anything. But by your shining example, it will make it easier for her to accept the Lord (if that is her desire in the future).

It does not mean she is saved.
It does mean that your marriage is legal and therefore your children are sanctified rather than illegitimate.
It was a valid question for the early Christians, especially those who were Jewish. 'Don't be unevenly yoked' was in the Law of Moses as well. If their marriage was not legal then the children were considered illegitimate.

I may have a different viewpoint that the others. We must first realize the situation at the church at Corinth... what a mess they were (hmmmm...)

I firmly believe that if you came to know Christ during your marriage and your wife has not yet, that you can live to see her do so. I believe this because 1, we know it's God's ultimate will, 2, If you ask God and trust Him to answer prayers, keep His promises, then He will reach her. There's more -- like the "and your house" type phrases (believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, and your house...) that can be read/misread.

I remind God of those in my family who have not yet made a single one time commitment... that HE PROMISES...

Plus it begs the question of the "accepting" versus "rejecting" Christ...

It is difficult but necessary to obtain the mind of Christ when in such a situation. Don't judge but show unconditional love; don't condone but remind her of God's Word and His love for her. These things are difficult because you must know and believe His Word as well.

Hey thank you so much, i figured it was a silly question with 1 Peter 4:18 in mind. Just wishful thinking i suppose :) its been a bit rough lately and thats why i had to ask.

I don't believe it is wrong to hold out hope for her to be saved and to ask God for her to be saved; I just would not become discouraged if you never see it happen. We have to accept the possibility that she may not simply want the Lord Jesus Christ in her life. You may love her deeply. But our love should always be first for Jesus. We can certainly pray and believe we can make a difference in helping them to be saved. But if salvation was determined by marrying unbelievers, then there would be a ministry for doing that. But no such thing is ever mentioned in Scripture about that. I will pray that God softens her heart during the time of your life to shine around her as a believer in Christ.

May the Lord's love and peace be upon you in your challenge.
