What is everyone’s opinion on smoking weed? I have suffered from bad anxiety for years and it’s only gotten worse this past year. It’s staring to turn into depression. I found that weed is the only thing that calms me down. I only smoke it maybe twice a week but it relieves my anxiety so much and I feel like I can live a normal life again. I think it’s better than living off of pharmaceutical meds that make you a living zombie. I also work in the medical field and truely believe that all pharmaceuticals are poison for your body. To me weed is safer and natural.

Sorcery is condemned in the bible, but I don't believe medicine is.

It would certainly be wiser to trust something that God made for improving your well-being. than something man-made. However, it would be prudent to ensure the smoking of the weed is for medical purposes alone, and there are no laws against the smoking of the type of weed you have chosen to smoke.

If you're not getting wasted from it, and it's actually medicinal then it could be a great thing. However, I would strongly encourage you to find the right strain, amount, dose, etc--where you're not "out of it", and it's helping but not intoxicating.

Don't justify a bad behavior, however, do not criminalize medicine that works, and realize that if it's benefiting you without impairing your function then it likely has some validity.

I do not smoke or anything--but I've been around enough people, and understand it can be very useful if taken seriously.

I smoked for years. It poisons your mind. It is toxic to your spirit. It infiltrates the way that you think. It deepens depression. You have anxiety because of not dealing with things in a proper manner. If you truly want to answer your own question, I suggest doing what the Bible "suggests". Stop smoking weed for 40 days (which is fasting). You'll be clean, no weed in your system, you'll be clear headed to make the decision. Anxiety stems from deeper issues. You are smoking weed to avoid those. Then you make excuses and look for approval of why it is safe and good for you, when deep down, you know it isn't. I've been there. It is a very subtle poison. Read the Bible. Get high on God. Not the world.

Please don’t operate on me. If you work in the medical field, you need to be alert and maybe a little uptight. If you were a yoga instructor or something, being relaxed might be alright.

I assume people’s well being is in your hands. As a potential patient, I’d rather you be on cocaine than marijuana. Cocaine doesn’t help anxiety, though.

As a kid I worked my way up to an ounce and a half a week, I don't like it.

What makes it safer? You don't know what potency you are getting. You don't know what purity you are getting. You don't know what dose you are getting. And since you talking about smoking it, you have increased risk of lung damage or cancer. All without any clinical evidence that it actually treats anxiety (and some studies that show it can increase anxiety in spite of the user believing otherwise).

Plus... since it is illegal which I would think would increase your anxiety level....even more so if you really have a job in the medical field.

Exactly which meds are you talking about that make you a living zombie? Most medications don't do that and if they do, that is evidence that you are at entirely too high of a doseage.

As a Christian, your witness is kind of seriously compromised if you are consciously breaking federal law.

Same thing...and considering the clause "as a kid", then it wasn't as a treatment for anything.
"Medicines" in general implies use for good, which is what the original post is about. "Drugs" often implies use for evil, hence the effort to distinguish "pharmaceuticals" from "drugs", although pharmaceuticals are drugs.

Drug, but I never liked it, I was under age so I smoked it, it's legal in my state now, but I don't want any, kids are going to start being exposed to second hand smoke from pot now.
Pharmaceuticals used for the wrong purpose can also have a negative effect. Don't you think its an unfair comparison to compare irresponsible and illegal use of a potential medicine with the responsible and legal use?

As a nurse, I have a Drug Manual...so no, that connotation is only yours, not universal.

It's legal in my state for anyone over 21 to use it anyway they want, I didn't vote to legalize it and don't want it legal.

Isn't listing the connotations of the word "drugs" outside the scope and purpose of your Drug Manual?

Some people don't want alcohol legal, some people don't want coffee legal, some people don't even want pharmaceuticals legal. I guess enduring such freedoms are the price of... well, freedom.

It is against federal law even if some states have legalized it. And some states have legalized it as a recreational drug that has nothing to do with its use as a medicine. Since no doctor ever doses it or distributes it, it is not really medicine. True medicinal use is legal in all 50 states in the form of Marinol and soon, likely an nasal spray. I seriously doubt that any true studies will show that marijuana has legitimate medical uses in the raw form.

Have you considered what's sold at the health food stores? Like St. John's Wort, Camomile Tea, or Lavender Oil?
