Yes, I’ve heard that also. Can you list these commands? How many are there?
Are they different than the Father’s commands, and if so why?
Why would God need new commands for His people? Were the first ones not good enough? Has His standards changed?

Yes, I'm happy to share although Bob S did a wonderful job in the post above this one. It is exactly correct. 1 John 3:23-24 He quoted it above. I will add some below my answers to your questions.

Some of the commands in Yeshua's New Covenant may look the same, but they are different.
Why because Yeshua fulfilled the Old Covenant Law of Moses and ushered in a NEW Covenant based upon His fulfillment of both the Law of Moses and the Prophets. By doing so, He completed the plan the Father set down as the purpose of the Law of Moses, which was to show what sin is, how heinous it is to G-d, that blood must be shed to atone for it, the provisions under the Old Covenant were only temporary until Yeshua fulfilled it - permanently.

The New Covenant deal with the heart, not just the flesh.

Why G-d needed new commands is listed above. No, the first ones were not good enough, that is why Yeshua had to come. G-d's standards are like His attributes, they never change. Sin is sin, and He is holy. However, according to Scripture HOW he deals with His people regarding sin DID change several times in the Old Covenant, and one last time when Yeshua gave us the New Covenant.

Paul explains here the difference in the commands of the Old and New Covenant and why the first one was only temporary and even calls it "the ministry of death" and "ministry of condemnation" and that is was brought to an end.

2 Corinthians 4
5 Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from G-d, 6 who has made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

7 Now if the ministry of death, carved in letters on stone, came with such glory that the Israelites could not gaze at Moses' face because of its glory, which was being brought to an end, 8 will not the ministry of the Spirit have even more glory? 9 For if there was glory in the ministry of condemnation, the ministry of righteousness must far exceed it in glory. 10 Indeed, in this case, what once had glory has come to have no glory at all, because of the glory that surpasses it. 11 For if what was being brought to an end came with glory, much more will what is permanent have glory.

There are many more Scriptures that say this same thing, but for lack of room, I'll post those another time and get to the question:

As to how many there are, some people say 2, some say more. I agree with this infogram that there are 1,050 New Covenant commands and I will list them below.

Do you not know the definition of an antinomian?

The word antinomianism comes from two Greek words, anti, meaning "against"; and nomos, meaning "law." Antinomianism means “against the law.” Theologically, antinomianism is the belief that there are no moral laws God expects Christians to obey.
I do not know any Christians that believe this. It also is not the teaching of Paul to the nations.
Antinomianism takes a biblical teaching to an unbiblical conclusion. The biblical teaching is that Christians are not required to observe the Old Testament Law as a means of salvation. When Jesus Christ died on the cross, He fulfilled the Old Testament Law (Romans 10:4; Galatians 3:23-25; Ephesians 2:15).
Yes, and no.
As a Christian I believe Jesus fulfilled the law as to it's prophesied judgement of wrath. He bore the punishment for both Jew and Gentile spoken of in those prophesies of the law of Moses. But that has nothing to do with not having any law. But, I agree, Christians do not keep, the old testament as testament = covenant. As believers there is a new covenant in Christ. Therefore to escape the prophetic utterances of Moses concerning Sinai law, is to believe those utterances and their force.
Mt 11:13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
The prophets as well would not speak in opposition to that prophesy, but uphold it.

The unbiblical conclusion is that there is no moral law God expects Christians to obey.
Again, there is law, prior to the addition of law through Moses, to keep the old covenant.

Just two Dig. You will find them in 1Jn3:23-24. 23 And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. Jn13:34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

How much does Jesus love us Dig? Well, He gave His life for us and we are to love others like He loves us. I challenge you to find a verse in the Old Testament that lists either of the commands found in 1Jn. this should settle the debate, but knowing the past history of the debaters I really wonder.

If we love others as Jesus loves us there is no sin imaginable that we would commit. Would you tell us that the 10 commandments contain all the sins man can do? There isn't even a command to love our neighbor in the 10 let alone giving our life for our neighbor.

There you have it. What you do with it is yours to decide.

II John 1:5 Now I ask you, lady, not as though I were writing to you a new commandment, but the one which we have had from the beginning, that we love one another.

Hmm, who's lying Yeshua or John, or who is misunderstanding the Scripture?

Is there a command to love in the OT? If so, then how can this be a NEW command and not a renewed command or even an expanded command?

Lev 19:18 You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the Lord.

Oh dear, how are you going to spin this one!?

Wow! I'm so glad I'm not under those several dozen commands that apply to me anymore, now I'm under a 1,000 plus commands! Thanks for that.

From your source:
  1. Right to the tree of life
  2. Right to enter the New Jerusalem

Rev 12:17 So the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to make war with the rest of her children, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.

Rev 14:12 Here is perseverance of the saints who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.

Commandments of God and faith of Jesus. Why do you see a problem with this?
Do you HONESTLY think that John was not thinking of the commands of God in the Torah?

So, does this new command, make the one from the beginning old? Does it make the beginning command decaying, and waxing away, obsolete?
Heb 8:13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
Or is it a change of law?
Mt 10:36 And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household

If it's saying the same thing, how can it be obsolete?
Which commands are being said as obsolete? You seem to want to point to all of God's commands. Is that what you think? If not, which ones are obsolete?

I'll repeat some of my questions that no one could answer;

Quote me from Scripture a division of moral and ritual law. Or is this a notion that was thought up to exclude any law that is inconvienent?

Where does it say that the "moral" laws are about love but the "ritual" laws are not?

Didn't Yeshua say that ALL the Law and Prophets are sumed up by love? Yes He did.

Where do you get your authority to divide the Word of God?

Could anyone answer any of these since this is what is being promoted on this thread?

All the law....Moses law was 430 years after the law of faith. But, are you keeping all the rituals?

I do not know any Christians that believe this. It also is not the teaching of Paul to the nations.

Exactly, which is why he should not call those who believe Yeshua has fulfilled the Old Covenant Law antinomians. It is an unwarranted insult, not a factual designation.

Hmmm, no is is "lying" here, what a weird comment. Read everything in context. Yeshua's NEW Covenant commands are similar but not exactly the same because He took the observance from outward works to regenerated spirit. Big difference. The Old Covenant system was judgement, the New is grace.

Just using the same word "love" is ignoring the truth if the difference. Under the Old, we could not love except in our own capacity. Under the NEW, we are filled with G-d's Holy Spirit and it is HIS love that we are loving with. Again, Big Difference if you understand Yeshua's New Covenant.

Oh dear, why do you have to resort to being rude? Can you not discuss maturely and graciously with others?

No problem at all when I see it according to the Scriptures in context. I HONESTLY believe what the Scriptures state and refute the teachings that say otherwise. According to the NEW Covenant of Yeshua, the Old Covenant Law of Moses is not required nor has it ever imparted righteousness to anyone, prior to or after Yeshua. I HONESTLY believe that the commandments and faith are those of Yeshua, HIS commandments in the New Covenant, not in the Old because this is what the Scriptures state plainly.

Not a weird comment at all. One says it's new and another says it is not. Someone is lying or someone is not understanding the text in context.

You imply that the commands are the same essentially but that it is the way in which we respond to them is different. That is getting closer to the truth. But there is still a problem.

Either Yeshua changed the Torah or He added to it or took away from it. In any of those circumstances He would have committed a sin and would be disqualified from being the Messiah.

Could you please explain how He could have done these things and still be qualified?

Our love or God's? God is love - check your theology. And while you're at it provide an example of love that doesn't henge on the Torah.
The unregenerate heart cannot follow the commands of God [which are about loving]. See Rom 8

I'm not being rude, I'm being direct. The foundation of your opinions cannot be supported by Scripture.

You couldn't have stated it any better to expose the problems with your theology. You see division.
You see the Messiah, who is the "Word made flesh" changing His very nature and bringing something "new". The "new" thing is that the atonement has come to pass.
Yeshua is the completion of the Older Covenant. It is not the "newness" of God's standards.

You make it sound like God has stopped in His tracks and thought of something "new" because the "old" just wasn't a good plan. Obviously the New Covenant was prophesied in the Older Covenant.

How many examples do we need to realize that once redemption has come then comes the way the redeemed should live? Look at the Exodus as an example, first came freedom and then how the free people of God should live.

Has God changed? Once free in Messiah, why would we not receive the way in which we should live? Why would it be any different than the people of God from before? God hasn't changed, or His standards, have they?

But please don't interpret my comments to diminish the Messiah's role in bringing the Torah into a greater understanding for the people of God. He reveals the spirit of the Torah! We should listen.

IS YAHUSHUA (Jesus) THE “END” OF THE LAW?!

Answer: Completion – Yes / Termination – No

To anyone, who is confused here:

You are confusing the laws found in ordinances with the Law of the Ten Commandments.

The laws in Ordinances are the “laws” YahuShua (Jesus) is the “end” of…ONLY these were nailed to the cross of Messiah, says the Apostle Paul.

The Law of the Ten Commandments stand forever!

Romans 10:4

“Messiah is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.”

Matthew 5:19 “Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven: but whosoever shall DO and TEACH them, the same shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.” ~ Jesus

YahuShua (Jesus) said in Matthew 5:17 “I am come NOT to DESTROY the Law or the prophets: I am come NOT to destroy, but to fulfill”

Therefore, the interpretation that YahuShua (Jesus) is the “end” or “termination” of the Law is in error, for these verses cannot contradict one another. Rather, YahuShua (Jesus) is the FULFILLMENT,COMPLETION, PURPOSE (“end”) of the Law.
In Strong’s Concordance, “end” refers to a “result [immed., ultimate or prophetic], purpose” – “end”. We know it can NOT be “termination”, unless we make YahuShua (Jesus) a liar. For instance, in another place, YahuShua (Jesus) said, “It is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one letter of the Law to fail.” (Luke 16:17)t the Bible, it shows us that the Law stands forever, and even saying that the Holy Days shall be kept forever (Ex. & Lev.). Does forever mean, NOT forever?! Is not the Word of God true forever as YahuShua (Jesus) said again in John? Did not Paul also say ‘ONLY those “laws”, FOUND IN ORDINANCES, were nailed to the cross of Messiah’ (Eph. 2:15 & Col. 2:14)?

Not all words in your Bible mean what we as Americans would take them to mean. We must look deeper and read them within the context of the WHOLE Bible. comparing them with all similar and related verses for better understanding, knowing first, that which YahuShua (Jesus), Himself, said is true forever, for He is the Word; and from that premise, we must seek to understand the verses above, interpreting them within the context of the WHOLE NT and even the WHOLE of the Bible, OT very much included.

We must not take verses out of context as to make them fit with church doctrine or our preconceived notions of what we personally think the Word should be. Segregation of the Word is perverse and will lead us into more ungodliness.

YahuShua (Jesus) fulfills, upholds, establishes and magnifies the Law in Himself, even giving us the power by His own Spirit to keep the Law if we would just obey and follow His example… Yea, He has even shown us the key to keeping the Law: “To love the Lord our God with all our heart, and mind, and with all our strength (This fulfills Commandments 1-4), and to love our neighbor as ourself (this fulfills Commandments 5-10)” For if we do this, obedience becomes effortless, because we do it not to gain salvation (we are saved by grace, through YahuShua’s (Jesus) blood). Rather, we do it because God has asked us to…because the Law is holy and for our benefit…

We keep the Law because of our love for the Father and because of the Son, even writing it on our hearts, if we would stop stifling the Spirit and cease from continually finding ways of going round about to justify our disobedience.

Simply repent, confess your wrong-doings against God and man, and “go and sin NO MORE” (Jn 8:11). For our forgiveness is assured. Do NOT betray that forgiveness and sacrifice by justifying sin and crucifying the Lord of Glory over and over in your hearts(Heb. 6:6)…

To disobey God is sin and sin is defined by the Law (Rom. 7:7 & 1 Jn 3:4).

“Do we then make void the Law through faith? God forbid: yea we establish the Law.” (Romans 3:31)

“Wherefore the Law is holy, and the Commandment holy, and just and good.” (Romans 7:12)

“Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the Law: for sin is the transgression of the Law.” (1 John 3:4)

“And hereby we do know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He saith, I know Him, and keepeth not His Commandments, is a liar, and the Truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth His Word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in Him. He that saith he abideth in Him ought himself to walk as He walked.” (1 John 2:3-6)

“By this we know we love the children of God,when we love God, and keep His Commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His Commandments: and His Commandments are not grievous.” (1 John 5:2-3)

Not a weird comment at all. One says it's new and another says it is not. Someone is lying or someone is not understanding the text in context.

Actually, that is not true. You are just not seeing it. But to say someone is lying is more than weird, it's ludicrous. However, you are free to believe what you wish.

You imply that the commands are the same essentially but that it is the way in which we respond to them is different. That is getting closer to the truth. But there is still a problem.

Actually, that's not what I said at all. Please go back and read my words, not misread them. Thanks.

Either Yeshua changed the Torah or He added to it or took away from it. In any of those circumstances He would have committed a sin and would be disqualified from being the Messiah. could you please explain how He could have done these things and still be qualified?

He did neither. And Yeshua never sinned. He fulfilled the Father's plan for the Old Covenant Law of Moses and that was for it to be completed by His Messiah, Yeshua. That was the plan from the beginning of time and Yeshua obeyed the Father's will. According to the Scriptures themselves, Yeshua's NEW Covenant replaced the Old. Yeshua did not change, add or take away from the Old Law He replaced it with the New. Please read it in the New Covenant.

Our love or God's? God is love - check your theology. And while you're at it provide an example of love that doesn't henge on the Torah.
The unregenerate heart cannot follow the commands of God [which are about loving]. See Rom 8

Umm, Check my theology? Dude, that's rude. Stop it please. If you cannot discuss maturely and graciously with people of different views, you don't need to be on a theology discussion board. The ones who get angry and rude are the ones who feel threatened by other's views.

Great verses by the way!

The best translation of the word "end" in Rom 10:4 is "goal".

The Messiah is the goal at which the Torah aims.

Actually, that is not true. You are just not seeing it. But to say someone is lying is more than weird, it's ludicrous. However, you are free to believe what you wish.

You are still trying to say that Yeshua "replaced" the Older Testiment. The Older Testiment is the Torah.

Can you replace a lightbulb without removing the old one? What does the word "change" mean to you?

Didn't Yeshua say that He did not come to abolish the Torah? You seem to be saying that He did. Can you see my question for you? Didn't Yeshua say that not one jot or tittle would pass from the Torah until all is fulfilled, or while the heaven and earth exist?

I don't understand how these truths can be overlooked.

We certainly see the true people of God observing the Torah and maintaining their faith in Yeshua in the last days.

Lastly, the "Law" that is referenced in the Newer Testiment is the Torah! The Newer Testiment had not been written yet. How could it be something new unless it is contained in the Older Testiment, which it is?

The Messiah is the goal at which the Torah aims. Do away with the Torah and you do away with the plan and execution of salvation thru the Messiah.
