I never said we couldnt prosper and help the poor. Desiring to be rich is a snare however, it causes us to err from the faith. Paul said we should be content with food and clothing. Thats the faith we have been taught.
I think I got my point across but here it is again in Paul's words.

1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

But who is to define the necessities of life? There are people living on the streets with nothing but the clothes on their backs and a few odds and ends shoved into a shopping cart. Are all of us more financially blessed than the homeless carnally minded?

Rich is a relative term, which seems to mean having one dollar more than the person using that word.
Paul said to be content with food and clothing. Homeless people are usually drug addicted or mentally unstable. Rich folks who live in mansions are carnally minded.

What constitutes a mansion? Is there a square footage threshold, or is it the number of rooms?

I'll defer asking you how you presume to know someone's spiritual state by the size of their house or bank account. Perhaps we can address that later.

Paul said those who desire to be rich err from the faith. Is not having a mansion desiring to be rich? Paul said having food and clothing we will be content.

See here, paul is preaching equality, not Rich and poor.

2 Co 8:13 For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened; 14 but by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may supply their lack, that their abundance also may supply your lack—that there may be equality. 15 As it is written, “He who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack.”

1 Timothy 6:9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.

Any thoughts on this scripture?

Praise God for this helpful aid to us in our understanding!

You keep bringing up mansions as some sort of litmus test. I'm simply asking you to define the term.

I mention mansions because many people say that stockpiling money in order to give to the poor is a good thing. So i avoid that debate altogether by referring to mansions, clothes, cars and other worldly possessions. No one can claim to build a huge mansion for the poor or buy them a luxury car.

I could ask again -- for you to define "mansion" -- but I suspect I'll get the same non-answer. Moving on...
Paul said having food and clothing we will be content.
So how does that jive with your computer, and I assume, the roof over your head?

Im sure you know what a mansion is. I use my computer for fellowship, and also for learning skills online, and as far as a roof over my head goes, its not a mansion. My home is about 800 sq ft.

Actually, I don't. Is it 1,000 square feet? 2,000 square feet? Maybe 3,000 square feet?

You must seem rich to someone living on the streets in a cardboard box.

Thats exactly what i've been saying. The question now becomes, can we covet a mansion?
Sure and keeping up with the Jones can be coveting. They have a new car, I want a new car so I will look as well off or as important as they do, or even out doing them with something better.

Mat 23:5 `And all their works they do to be seen by men, and they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the fringes of their garments,
Mat 23:6 they love also the chief couches in the supper, and the chief seats in the synagogues,

Per google

man·sion
ˈman(t)SH(ə)n/
noun
  1. a large, impressive house.

So I would say a larger and costlier house than what is needed for shelter for and individual/single family. If a house takes away from your resources to care for your neighbor, it may be a mansion.

Im thinking lifestyle of the rich and famous. 8000 square feet would be closer.

Yes. I seek the kingdom and the Lord supplies my needs.
