Hi Wilts,
When Jesus said `the kingdom is at hand` the word kingdom means `rule.` As you said He is the king and He was there to rule. And as you also said He is the Messianic (Davidic) king and He will reign over Israel as God has said. `The Lord God (the Father) will give Him the throne of His father David.`
Then we know that the 12 disciples will be given rulership over the 12 tribes of Israel. (Matt. 19: 28, Rev. 21: 14)
So I don`t see the Body of Christ mentioned there. Marilyn.
You said:>>> Then we know that the 12 disciples will be given rulership over the 12 tribes of Israel. (Matt. 19: 28, Rev. 21: 14)<<<
Matt.19:28 - And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. Two thousand years ago, JESUS said these words to His disciples, in response the question of Peter saying: Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?
By the Spirit of Christ JESUS, our Lord, we can discern not only the power will give to the twelve Apostles to judge the twelve tribes of Israel, and also the time of this wonderful hapenning, that is “in the time of regeneration”, it because this is the exact time when JESUS sits on the throne of His glory and all nations will be Judged. I must reveal here that this time of regeneration cited by our Lord, is also the time of restoration or restitution of all things, as is written in Acts.3:19-21:
19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.
20 And he (God) shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
21 Whom the heaven must receive (to remain) until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
JESUS said: Matt. 25:31-34&41
31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
32 And before him shall be gathered ALL nations (Israel include): and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels (his messengers: 2Cor.11:13-15):
When JESUS was received in heaven after His resurrection (the 3rd? Or heaven of the heavens?) He sat at the right hand of God Father, but now, even now, in this first century of the seventh and last millennium, the Millennium of Christ, the Millennium of Truth, and the Millennium of Judgment, the Judgment Seat of Christ, and the Millennium of Vengeance, the Last Millennium or Last Day, and the 3rd Day from the first coming of JESUS, I repeat, He is sat on His throne of Glory, the Judgment Seat of Christ, to Judge all nations, this happening or event, though JESUS be invisible yet, it is already fulfilling and will fulfil be fulfiled LITERALLY in the days to come, in the days ahead, day after day.
So, 1Thes. 5:16-24
16 Rejoice evermore.
17 Pray without ceasing.
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19 Quench not the Spirit.
20 Despise not prophesyings.
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
Two thousand years ago, JESUS said to the Jews: John 2:16-19&21
16 … Make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.
17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.
18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
21 But he spake of the temple of his body. (His Church)
Remember: One Day with the Lord is as a thousand years. Be sure, we are in the beginning of the first century of the 3rd millennium after the first coming of JESUS. What He said to the Jews in the temple of Jerusalem about three days, it will fulfil now LITERALLY, even now, in the days to come, in the days ahead, day after day.
Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
