Last night I was looking through some old notebooks that my brother and I drew in years ago. It was fun to look back at the old drawings and some of them were funny! Sometimes, I like to look back at drawings and stories I made in the past, and I notice how far I've come over the years.

How about you, do you like to look back at things you made in the past?

whenever I read over some of my past CF posts I cringe.
:muahah: :234:

Yes, sometimes indeed! Though sometimes I do come across some that have been a helpful reminder.

I have a binder of old drawings and creative writing, even one drawing of a dragon someone gave to me years ago.

I have definitely looked back at some of my past artwork, diary entries, posts, past struggles (and how God has walked with me through them all). My diary entries for the most part was kinda..angsty xD. I also feel the same way looking back at my artwork in that I get to see how far I've progressed.

I just recently did some purging and threw away an entire binder notebook that zips up (it was a very big and roomy notebook) full of various writings, pictures, ect. I guess I'm not that sentimental.

I do still have my little Lisa Frank diary with its lock and key though. That one is cute and fun to whip out and laugh at once in a blue moon. I have some other things that I've kept, but for the most part I've gotten rid of it. Too much of it reminds me of my childhood and early teen years which were pretty miserable for me being the deeply introverted person that I am. I understand and accept myself now, but when you're young and introverted (a word and its meaning you know nothing about at the time) and acutely aware of how different you are from most people, living life is one very, very anxiety filled challenge every day. ...So no, I'm not very sentimental about my childhood 'stuff and things.'

I've kept all the little sweet notes my dad would write to me and leave in my room or on my pillow. He worked long hours and would try to compensate being away so much by writing special notes. Eventually I started doing the same thing. These are the kind of things I keep.

I don't often look back but I have most of my old drawings, paintings, writings, diaries, etc. I guess I am rather sentimental....I need to "purge" some of it honestly. I now understand why so many people, from the past, who kept diaries, never wanted them shown to anyone. I will personally destroy mine before I die, if possible, otherwise I will make sure someone has specific instructions to destroy them.

Before, people kept private diaries and got upset when anyone read them. Now, people post public diaries on the internet and get upset when no one reads them.
Oh the irony!

Sure do! I had a great childhood with loving parents that sacrificed for me and my brother and sister. Great memories but, I also look forward to the future. Have lots of cool plans and things to do and continue doing. In many ways, am living beyond my dreams as akid or young man. No complaints.

Sometimes I look at old comics I made as a kid. I used to think they were so funny and part of my "golden" age *partly because so many people at school were hyping them as the best thing ever.. lol*, yet looking back at them they're pretty disorganized.

Then I look at some ideas for cartoons I made in my early 20s, and am shocked at how offensive they were. I guess you could call them the "edge lord" years.. lol.

Oh, one thing I've kept that I actually keep on my car keychain is a small metal plate that reads "18 gallons." This was given to my grandfather after he reached the point of having donated 18 gallons of blood in his lifetime. He was a WWII veteran and having been seriously injured himself in Normandy (he was awarded a Purple Heart) from an enemy landmine, he always felt very strongly about regularly giving blood. He may have given plasma, too. ...If it was something that could help, encourage, and lead people into a positive direction, he was the first in line to offer his assistance. This was the kind of man he was.

That metal plate is a reminder to me.
